As a seamstress, could I suggest running a “bead” of a liquid called “Fray check” around the top, let it dry, and THEN cut off the top.? It MAY help prevent that shrinkage.
@@samanthakessel7285 - looked like a blanket stitch to me, but I couldn’t get past the fact that she was using clearly dull nail scissors and no curved needle?? There HAS to be a cobbler somewhere that could give her some tips! Also, fray check is AMAZING!! I also saw a comment suggesting gluing on suede toe caps, which seems like a much easier solution. She might be content now, but those of us with tendinitis are all sitting here thinking “whyyyyyyyy?”
Hi Josephine! Love your videos. Have you ever interviewed pointe shoe makers to get their reactions to dancers’ shoe hacks? I’m curious what their reaction is to the cutting, darning, gluing and pummeling of shoes when they arrive at the end users.
This would be cool to see and also if they ever considered making any alterations because of the hacks they see. I'd be curious to know if they ever plan on adding those to the shoes they sell.
God I wish social media was a thing when I was a professional dancer. I’ve learned so many things I wish someone would have told me 30 years ago. Maybe I wouldn’t be as injured today.
Irek Mukhamedov was my favourite dancer when he was with the Royal Ballet and I remember seeing him at a charity gala where he brought onto the stage a gorgeous tiny little girl (2 or 3 years old) in the cutest tutu, for her to take a bow. And look at her now! Oh good gracious, I'm so old.....! 😊
yea same! i think i will try it when i go to my fitter again. i don’t have a flexible arch but i always have a baggy heel and my fitter just gives me a larger size. they really need to restock their stuff like wth they have nothing there anymore
I have the opposite feet as her (skinny, shallow, low profile, inflexible) but I also love Bloch stretch satin. It let's me wear a size and a half smaller and hence a smaller box that fits my feet better. The stretch satin also really gives me that feeling that my shoes are a part of my feet instead of something blocky strapped onto them.
Oh wow - this has saved me. I have a disappearing heel - so when I rise, my foot shrinks. So my pointe shoes are fitted in this weird medium, where on flat they're extremely tight and uncomfortable to dance in (especially to roll up!), but on pointe they look baggy. Definitely going to check out split soles!
I’m 47 and point shoes sure have changed since I was dancing. I have very similar feet and had double shank shoes AND taped my arches to keep from going through shoes too fast. I now have special made orthotic inserts bc my orthopedist says NO shoe will accommodate my arch.
i’ve been watching the pointe shop on yt for a while now and i’m finally starting pointe this summer. i just wanted to say that you guys have really helped boost my confidence and really know what to expect ❤️❤️
I hope they dont hurt and you have them checked out. My ankles crack AND hurt all the time because of muscle strain. I dont dance though. This is because of my office job haha.

After capezio discontinued odettes this was a wild card after I tried EVERYTHING including buying a bunch of super custom freed classic pros from company members on eBay and a gal at discount dance in culver city was like... “Well if NOTHING else worked and you’ve already lost a thumbnail darning gaynors, you may as well try them with a spacer”. I have a pair of Eurostretchs that I cannot wear because they aren't wide enough. However, I love them, they are so comfy, if only my feet wouldn't be so high profile.
I've never seen anyone else who's feet look like mine! I never did pointe but even in regular dance shoes, finding ones that fit right was such a pain!
Woohoo Sasha! I've seen her perform a few times when she was with Dutch National Ballet. I tried the euro stretch pointes as an experiment (usually I wear Bloch suprima's) and it took a long time getting used to them. They hurt a lot in the beginning, now it's getting better. They're very different, and I have to work my feet very differently. Suprima has a small platform with subtle, rounded edges, while Eurostretch has a huge platform with sharp edges. Finding balance is therefore a lot easier, but piqués are weird because you have to go "over" the sharp edge and that feels clunky. I'm curious to see how long they will last.
My daughter is still very small but says her dream is to be a ballerina. She regularly makes us put on ballet performances from RU-vid so she can do her best to mimic the moves of the performers. It’s so sweet! While she’s too young for my ballet academy, I still want to learn all about the equipment so I can encourage her dreams (assuming they last). I really appreciate how informative these videos are! If my daughter ever makes it to needing pointe shoes, I’ll definitely be getting her fitted with you guys
I'm gonna have to keep these in mind next time I get fitted. I have really high arches and flexible feet and ankles, and my shoes are ALWAYS baggy. These might be good for me to try.
Oh my gosh these are very similar to my feet. I’ve tried Euro stretch before but I’m pretty sure I had one size too small (the heel hurt and never stayed on). Watching this makes me think I should try it again.
I tried the Eurostretch shoes on and they felt so great and looked so nice and sleek on my narrow feet. But the box shape is totally wrong for my toes. I wish Bloch would come out with different models of these. 😭
Same! The wings/vamp are the tiniest bit too short for my feet but i kind of just put up with it cuz my favorite shoe has been out of stock since covid started! 😂😭
They have multiple models in the “stretch pointe” line! you may like the dramatica II or the axistretch! they are more tapered than the euro stretch :)
Resurrecting an old comment here, but if you haven't already, check out one of the newest additions to the Eurostretch line - the Elegance. I need a semi-tapered shoe and just got fitted with these and they are surprisingly comfortable and supportive for my compressible and high-arched feet. I am branching out from Russian Pointe, so fingers crossed they work!
@@breakingpointe727 I found a store that carried more stretch pointe models. 🥲 I got fitted in a Superlative and I love the stretch satin. It‘s the first pointe shoe that doesn’t slip off my narrow heel and looks baggy.

I just got my first pair of Bloch euro stretch! I’ve always had trouble finding shoes that work bag you around my narrow heels, My feet are also fairly flat footed end it helps a lot with my support can I get over them very well. I couldn’t have asked for a better shoe
I am not a dancer but love all things dance.Is there a specific type of ribbon you need for your shoes or is it just a spool of ribbon from like Joann's or Hobby Lobby or for those of you outside of the states your local crafting supplies place.
Although I only did one year of point before changing from dance to karate, my teacher had me use two elastics too and I remember feeling weird about it because no one else had to have two elastics, she said it was because I was so young but I was only a few months you get then one of the other girls and a year and two years younger then the two other girls in my class so I didn’t understand why me being young would affect it, but now seeing that this lady uses two because of the way her feet are makes a lot of sense
My daughter loves the eurostretch shoes for the same reasons. Her studio doesn't like the split sole but they look so good on her they are allowing her to wear them temporarily. All other shoes are too baggy. Is there a comparable full sole shoe?
@@sianmilne4879 My daughter said that it is believed to be a "cheat" shoe and she will not have to work as hard with it on. The Eurostretch looks like it is made specifically for her feet though and is beautiful on her feet. After denying other shoes we brought in they told her to go back and get the split sole but we needed to go to the studio fitting in August so they can see her try on shoes in person.
Have you heard of Bloch Lisse. One of their newest model. It's not split sole or stretch satin but it's not baggy at all and gives a really pretty and sleek look. On my feet it looks just like eurostretch maybe it's because they are made from the same balance european last and the shank felt almost the same. I went for it because my local store constantly does not have my size in eurostretch. Your daughter might feel differently but I think it might worth a try 😊
The European balance is made on the same last (so it's the same shape), but has non-stretch satin. So I wear the Euro balance, but I do find the heel is a bit baggy. Might be worth trying a pair on if you haven't already - I just like that both styles accomodate my foot shape really well and are really secure en pointe.
Omg please use a thimble! It will change your sewing life, I use leather thimbles because I find it hard to find a properly fitting metal one but if you think you’re fast at sewing just imagine if it was easier to push the needle through.

i remember trying on those shoes at my last fitting and i almost snapped the shank when i went up. which is sad because i loved everything else about the shoe. are there any similar shoes in the box?
Currently I’m deciding what age I want to get my first pair of pointe shoes some say as young as 9 and 18?! And even 10 so what age do you recommend getting pointe shoes for the first time and how many years of experience you need I have 8 years of experience and I’m 9 currently ^^
I have a very stupid question since I am not a dancer. However, i have been watching this channel for some time. This video made me wonder whether any dancers have tried to avoid Pointe shoes by creating a “fake shoe” with layers of KT Tape or putting KT Tape on the parts that make contact while on pointe. Kt tape is fairly strong and there are even stronger tapes than KT used therapeutically.
So my ballet company has certain shoes that we have to use but my foot is very flexible so the shoes that I have are way too tight when I’m like doing Demi pointe or plié’s but perfectly normal when I’m on pointe so I wanna try Bloch but I can’t
are the split soles good for your first pair because mine and sashas look very alike but im not on point just yet im going back to the physio on may 10th and will find out then if i can or not
My instep is high, it causes me to be unable to wear certain shoes. So normal wellies (rain boots as some say) do not fit me and some boots don’t either.
Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the struggles in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. He will help us through the struggle, the stress, and anything we experience in the world. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves, we need Him to help us as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. Christ says in John 16:33: I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] - (AMPLIFIED version) NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER. Regardless of what you've done or what you're going through you CAN make it through Jesus. If you have any questions let me know xx xxx
The only thing that saddens me is that they r made mostly in a manufacturing process. Not by hand which is such an old tradition . I hate to see that lost.
