@@jamesfeltman3300 That was definitely my go to drug back in the day when I had to go to the ER for my severe migraines.😊 And before I left, they'd hit me with another dose! I was so f*cked up they had to role me out in a wheelchair!🤤🤣
I never need it...but I always borrow money from my children...always. then I turn around and pay them back WITH INTEREST. to teach them about interest fees and learn about money. My two older children, one graduated law school, the other is at an ivy league school studying a masters in math...I have two surprise babies 5 & under...and well, they understand that they're profiting... my older children understand money so well, they've both purchased houses on their own ....without mortgages...no college debt. Stealing is wrong....but teaching children about money & finances is the upmost importance, they do not tea h this in schools
After parents laughingly said that OP was responsible for some of this debt she should have laughed in their faces, told them good luck collecting, left their house, collected her share of the payout and not looked back. What kind of sh*t was that!?!
I think "terrifyingly vindictive" is an exaggeration, but I agree. It feels very much like her reasonable bitterness has festered and rotted something inside of her. The whole thing with her old friend from school seemed really manipulative to me. Her sister is worse, and ofc the parents take the cake here, but OP is not a great person either.
*steal Stole is the simple past tense form of the verb steal. Allowing a child to to open a bank account will make it so nobody can STEAL their money. Children CAN!! Open a bank account but they MUST have a parent or legal guardian also on the account until they are 18 years old.
Lmfao 😂😂😂 What rock have you been living under? Bank accounts, actually more like a SAVINGS ACCOUNT can be opened in a child's name, however they must be opened by the legal guardian! Since the legal guardians in this story weren't financially responsible and demanded money out of their 16yr old and even took money from her... that behavior would have happened even if OP had a savings account opened up in her name by them.
@@indianheadjerry2622 Why do individuals have such a difficult time with the English language? "Meant" is the past tense of the word and your sentence structure in the way you chose to design it... is demanding a present tense of the word. Since you can't comprehend the basic Kings English. Are you sure you need an explanation of something that 1. You didn't comprehend in the first place and 2. regardless if she explains it or not....are you capable of comprehending a dumbed down version when the first version was already dumbed down?
I think Forrest Gump had the notion correct: Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're going to get. Yeah I just dated myself, but well worth it 😂😂😂
“I mean… you two have good life insurance policies, right? And since you don’t give 2 shits about me, all that money is OBVIOUSLY going to you PrEcIoUs BaBy GiRl, you can just arrange for it to got to her court fees! Win-win for me!”
Conspiring with the friend to drive up the settlement to get some of the money was a terrible idea, because if that _ever_ comes out, that's probably a lawsuit. If the family finds the post, they'll recognize their situation. Dating Jeremy is probably also ill-advised on that point, because if it does end sufficiently badly, he'll probably spill, and the results will splash. I mean, yeah, it's rationalizable as a refund for the settlement being too high,, but since it all went to the OP in secret rather than the Parents or Olivia, nobody's going to see it that way.
OP thinks she won, but the parents are able to milk the Scapegoat child. She's really deseprate to gain her parents love, which narcissists will never give.
It always feels fake if the first part of the story just sets an narrative with no problems big enough to actually warrant a story until after the update, especially with hints about the updates that are coming and then acting like “OMG this happened and I totally didn’t see it coming”
Did not see how that would play out. Hopefully OP's sister has truly learned and becomes her own person. Glad to hear that OP is doing great. It's a shame her parents were like they were, but they are reaping what they sowed.
IMHO Jeremy is a hero to stick to his word and give Op The money he promised. I hope they have a successful date because someone will marry him soon because he’s of good character and that’s so hard to find nowadays. Glad the little sister finally saw the error of her ways. Hopefully the parents will come to both daughters with a sincere apology and the family can reunite. If not it’s totally understandable but forgiveness is Powerful and parents don’t live forever. God bless Op for staying true to herself and rising above her circumstances.
I honestly don't know what I would do in OPs position. I do know that the accident was the best thing to happen to her sister. Both of them would never known just how toxic their parents were. And OPs sister might never have grown up to be the woman she is. Sometimes people really need to hit rock bottom before they grow. I know it was the same for me too.
I don't know that it would shake the sister, to learn who OP is seeing, as much as the parents, they were the ones left in the cold. It was their own doing, of course. If the relationships turns serious, OP can brag to the parents *how* she got the money to pay off the debt.
You were a better mother to your sister. She has become a functional adult in your custody. You are an awesome big sister who didn't give up on your younger sibling. Thankfully your parents didn't get the chance to mess her up beyond repair! Even though you meant it to be revenge, it actually paid off to teach your sister how to be an adult and realize your so called parents were the wedge. Way to go you!
I don’t know where this is. That said $25,000 seem low. ER fees can easily hit $6000 for six hours. Orthopedic on my hand hit about $9000 for outpatient. Add totaling the vehicle, plus loss of work, pain and suffering. Then attorney fees could easily be beyond $3000 just to talk to them. The total could be beyond $75,000-$100K.
Parents " Olivia kind of is in trouble we need your help can you give us money" What op should of said "erm can you guys go back in time and actually be half decent parents to me? No? Then their your answer, you find the money to look after that gremlin of yours"
Maybe not having your parents around oliva 8 hours a day is a good thing. She is doing what she needs to do, That's progress. I mean it ain't going to be perfect but better then before with oliva. Seems to me, your parents oppress her as they opress you.
Wow! You're going to try to get some money back from your entitled sister? Wow! Is that legal? LMAO!! You know your parents are going to expect you to pay part of that $70,000!! LMAO!! Because YOU taught your sister how to drive!! Holy moly!
I loved this story a lot. It sucks for OP to essentially having to become her sisters parent but it's a nice change of pace when the "child" actually grows up and sees the unacceptable behaviour for what it is. Honestly, I think it was the accident that did it. I met a person I knew in school many, many years later by accident and they had a similar story - in school he was a spoiled rich boy & a bully. He got into drugs later on and woke up one day in uni with his gf dead next to him - she OD' and as he was the one who bought the drugs and was too high to realize at the time what happened he still felt guild close to a decade later when we met. Kind of more extreme example, but the same principle - he realized his shit decisions impacted people around him and he changed.
You know if your parents would've taken on the responsibility of their 2nd child, I would've said youwent to far but they accept no responsibility, and you didn't give birth to your sister, they did. If I was OP I would sit them down and just let them have it about all that you've gone thru. If you don't speak up it's going to continue.
Anyone else get the feeling that the Olivia character hit something with the car ? Before hitting the other driver. If she was driving drunk. She probably hit something when dropping off her friends. And I would keep that girl well away from my own company. And my money. Also I would have had mom and dad a sign a note for repayment of the loan against something. Like the house.
1. Never sign anything without reading it first. 2. $70,000 is a rather low number for this kind of settlement (damage to the car, medical expenses, rehabilitation expenses, lost wages, legal fees, investigation expenses and compensation for pain and suffering) his medical expenses alone could easy equal $70,000 if not more. Normally, the car insurance would cover this, but driving under the influence and driving in an unroadworthy vehicle each on their own can negate your car insurance. 3. The fact that OP's sister did not face criminal proceedings is unbelievable.
Did you forget when this all started? When she was about 3 or 4. She was RAISED to be a doormat. She had not real spine until the accident because she was finally done with them. I’ve been raised to be the family scapegoat since I was 4. They break you down and make you feel like you don’t deserve more than what they give you and even then, you don’t deserve that much. They make you dependent on them so you can’t grow and mature properly, which keeps you strapped to them so they can use you how ever they want. OP wasn’t a doormat by choice. It’s what her family MADE SURE to make her so they could get what they want from her.
O p you cannot blame a child for what the parents have done. Not when they're little. Also if that guy wasn't your boyfriend you can't lay claim on someone just because you like them doesn't mean everyone else has to stay away from them.
Everyone shocked that parents tried to make her sign a loan to pay Jeremys bill... but forgets how Jeremy and OP plotted to get triple the amount from OP's parents in the court case... What goes around comes around.
Lost all sympathy for OP when she colluded to get money out of her parents oin a sneaky underhand way. - And then at the end of the story, she is going on dates with Jeremy, a MARRIED man.
If she didn’t have permission to drive the car, insurance probably wouldn’t have paid for it. Insurance will do anything to keep from paying out. And even if insurance DID pay them anything, like hell would they have told OP.
I think it would be best if they could find a way to forgive their parents - that doesn’t mean they have to start loaning them money again or fall for their the tricks, but in the end that would be the best outcome for all of them. Perhaps the parents have learned their lesson, I would hope. I’ve never understood how parents could favor one child over another.
So so many things I can comment but I have one burning question. What's going to happen when little sister learns that big sister has schemed from the beginning to plan out the trajectory of her life for her own gains? Not saying I think she was wrong, but how will it affect their newfound relationship 🤔
At first I thought this was another story I heard once and was trying to find. It's scary to hear stories of one sibling being expected to support the family so they can spoil another sibling. Though of all the things that make me question if a story is real or not, this one makes me wonder due to her admitting to the lawsuit earning her money. Who would risk admitting that? Then again, not everyone is smart. This one had a way happier ending for the sibling
