This is perfect for Spawn (we go to Cazador before the last battle) and then Astarion (determined to take over the power of the Absolute) decides that it is better to just kill Cazador and leave himself a private army independent of the Absolute
I've always considered Astarion's best ending to be the one where he builds a haven for the spawn in the Underdark. I admire how this ending is a twisted version of that one. - Instead of returning to a role of judge to protect the spawn from anarchy, he's playing judge entirely to protect his own rule. - Instead of accepting darkness as a part of himself, THE MAN PRONOUNCES HIMSELF A SUN GOD. It's ridiculous, but makes sense. He wants to cleanse any trace of his former "weaker," self. - Instead of a hard life of toiling labor and making amends with his victims, he can indulge in blood-driven debauchery, quite... evocatively so. Ascended Astarion is obsessed with control and sees his sexuality as the greatest embodiment his power. - And, the obvious. Instead of helping the spawn reclaim their lives, Astarion creates new spawn he can control, and in doing so, (say it with me now) perpetuates the cycle of abuse.
Literally his worst survivable ending. Having to remain a comparatively weak, suffering spawn. And clean up Cazador's mess in a way that is time-consuming and boring.
@@pegaferno4429 I'm not too sure exactly. I know it's possible outside of a romance run. But the one time I didn't romance him, he became Batman. All the spawn were alive though, so I assumed it had something to do with failing a persuasion check on Sebastian?
@@JonathanHayes-uz3ee In the video they had to roll a 25 saving throw in order not to succumb to ceremorphosis, so likely it's a more severe version of the penalty you get if you use the tadpoles early game and attempt to deny becoming half-illithid.
i mean, i get it, if you romance him, after you do the deed he is just standing butt ass naked in the sunlight, letting his Dong get some long needed tanning
@@hatsoff4524 Poor guy became a vampire in the wrong universe Shoulda been in VTM/VTR They’re like only half as evil in that universe and spawn actually have rights (not a lot but SOME)
True AA origin run unlocked the final step for world domination 🤣🤣🤣 BTW tho, I don't think SA would follow this path. As a spawn, I can see Astarion finding the inner power in him to resist dominating the brain just like he resisted the assentation ritual, and won't betray Orpheus/ the Emperor when they try to take control over the brain. AA would for sure be evil enough to dominate the brain, SA would see the faulty in taking this path and keep himself for the good ending.
@@OonalovesAstarionssimpleplanOr maybe we noticed the fact that astarions ascension results in a mental regression undoing all the character development he underwent due to the intoxicating and dark nature of his new power.
This is crazy good... Imagine this being your first ending, seeing Astarion's eyes glow red end then this beautiful fade to black... Credits start rolling with this mesmerizing song... The thought alone gives me _chills..._ That'd definitely be something to contemplate, it'd be etched into your memory for a LONG time....
well in that case that would be for the chad's who actually don't pick the suggested Tav as their first, actually pick astarion, and actually going for vampire ascension. a true vampire lover. what's to contemplate at that point lol
Eh, ever since the Sundering and the Time of Troubles, the gods of Toril aren't allowed by Ao to directly interfere in mortals' affairs anymore. He can't smack a mortal... well okay an immortal vampire, but still... for declaring himself a king. As long as Absolute Astarion doesn't declare himself a new deity and tries to usurp someone else's divine portfolio, there's nothing much Lathander can do... there's more than one deity who has "light" in their portfolio. Even God-Gale only gets in trouble with Mystra when he tries to usurp her place as Deity of Magic... not when he choses to become "the God of Ambition".
@@TF2CrunchyFrog He can send his followers at Astarion. Plus, Lathander's the main deity who has light in his portfolio, is a Greater Deity AND hates undead.
Well, along with Origin Ascended Astarion helping a romanced Companion Gale to ascend to Godhood, then joining God-Gale in the Outer Planes and becoming a god yourself.
Judging by all the spawn crawling out of the dark, this is actually the evil ending for *spawn* Astarion. I wonder if there's yet another ending for Ascending then becoming Absolute.
@@morganlinden6580 Not really, there are other vampires in the city not connected to Cazador so those could be the spawn of the other Lords. But it would be cool if there are two evil endings, one for ascended and one for spawn.
Dang that stare at the end was perfect. I wonder when did he have the time to make new spawns, it looks like the end is just right after he won. It's very interesting though, I'm gonna try that one ending with my Astarion run. ^^
Yeah astarion totally would do that wouldn’t he.Whom was i kidding.I was like maybe we can use that power for good & the writers were like nah reality check honey he’s hitched to a very evil ancient octopus now
Honestly, not the worst ending overall. I kinda wish everyone could choose to just infuse themselves with the power and rule lol But this is a decent "kinda evil, but not world ending"
I love this scene so much. It has refrances to him as a magistrate. It has the balance of his 'good' and bad side. But he also seems almost gentle while drinking. Cazador strikes me as someone who would drop the person afterwards but Astarion didnt which shows how different, while still evil, he is.
You gotta wonder if those spawn are actually his or infected with the parasite from other areas and flocked to him after he took over... That's a bit much in such a short time.
Same! This feels like the true evil path AA would take in his plans to take over the city. In the normal epilogue party AA is already talking about how he is "spinning his web" over the city as a sort of puppet master. So without a good man Tav to stop him, AA absolutely would keep pushing for more power & control over the city, and I can definitely this ending being a representation of that.
Oh. My. God. What a POWERFUL ending. Astarion, the vampire slave who has been hide in the city’s deepest darkness for 200 years, become the sun, the only source of light of the city, while the darkness he brought engulf every living soul. Beautiful.
@8:32-9:10, that was scary and kind of hot to see Astarion go there!😮😮😮 Excellent quality in that evil ending. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It almost feels tone death too see that evil ending then see the "In loving memory" screen roll lol. "How would you like people to commemorate your death ?" mass violence lol
@@kirikakirikakirika You're commenting on every comment that doesn't agree with your point of view on a silly little video game RU-vid. I'm not the "yikes" one here.
THANKS FOR SHARING 🤩 I've already done one Astarion origin run and ended as an Absolute too, but seeing this... Looks like I’ll need to do another one 🥵
I actually dig the ending. Idk why people are so upset about the actual content of the ending. I don't really wanna argue the "favoritism" issue, because it is what it is. This is still good stuff, and fits ascended Astarion.
I love this, alright? I tried doing that ending as my tav but I had too many tadpoles in my brain to resist ceremorphosis. Thanks for being the first person to show what happens when you pass that constitution check, to rule without losing yourself. as astarion to boot!! it fits him.
This is so cool! It's good to have a truly evil ending for Astarion since his original character is morally grey and until now neither path really showed his true intentions (AA haters, take several seats). I'm definitely curious to see how his endings differentiate now.
25 DC con check is fucking brutal. If you have 20 con that means you need to still roll a nat 20 to pass unless you are proficient in it. So unless you save scum to fish for a nat 20 you are transforming if you are not playing a barbarian.
This is so cool, but I am curious about the caring and benevolence AA is thinking about here, as well as "where there's light, there's darkness too". The title, wording, and hopeful tones imply that he wants to be their light, that he may actually intend to do some good, or at least his idea of good, as a leader whilst still indulging in his darker tendencies. It's interesting, it adds complexity to AA's character. He wants to be the beacon AND the darkness, not good, but not purely evil either.
People dont see that right before his decision hes already glaring and snickering menagingly. The man is fed up and hes not a bad person and even before ascending he already has that ''I want control of my life face''
If Tav gets turned into one of his spawn I’d like there to be an option where you can use the Netherbrain to force Ascended Astarion to turn you into a vampire lord. After that you can decide what you want to do with the brain and Astarion obviously breaks up with you but at least you get to be a Vamp Lord and free from Astarion’s control
I saw the ending for Evil Shadowheart))) It's no worse than the ending of the Sun King. I like her even more) So much so that I'm waiting for patch 7 to play as her)
