Fun fact: This movie was originally a horror-ish movie. They scrapped it cuz it would be scary to a younger audience, having horror elements, and it was originally named, It's a Wonderful Sponge
Scoob also TRIES to do something new with the characters while Sponge on the run has the same plot as the episode '' Have you seen that snail? '' Gary is missing and Spongebob has to find him. It's that but with zombies-pirates and an add for Kamp koral. Not very creative or funny 😐
This movie is basically a retell of that one episode, somewhere in the early seasons were Gary went missing, even when I watched the trailer I notice/saw that when I watched the trailer. Edit: I guess it just goes to show, that they really are running out of ideas and that they are reusing pre-existing ideas of SpongeBob just to get people back on the show.
@@jskywalker58 This movie is a complete insult to any child who has grown up with season 1-3 & the first movie of SpongeBob and to any new child who's gonna watch this movie and it's an insult to Stephen Hillenburg himself. I am kinda annoyed when people keep bringing up that Stephen Hillenburg would of hated this. I swear, people online keep beating up a dead horse way worse than Nickelodeon does it!
He would though, it changes all the established lore that he built throughout the years and made sure to keep consistent. They even changed the king of Atlantis from the original Neptune to a completely new character.

@@uknownada Even though it doesn't go against Stephen's wishes, and I do respect the memorial they gave him at the end, I still think that this movie is not only fucking terrible, but also a feature-length advertisement for a spin off that is still garbage even if he WAS aware of it. Sorry to say.
This movie may be one of the worst things I've ever seen but HOLY FUCK, 21:48 felt like a smack across the ass. Y'all know he was not only involved with this movie before he died, but he was also friends with some of the crew right? They paid respect to him, and I respect that.
They might be just joking, but if they aren't, i'm really tired of people using Steve's death to shit on modern SpongeBob, including this movie. HOW DARE YOU MAKE A TRIBUTE TO OUR LATE FRIEND!
The trailer I had shoved in my face was the minute long "SpongeBob, tell me everyone in your new movie" one, and that honestly says a lot about how much this movie relied on name drops 😂
Hillenburg literally works on the movie. The crew tributes him at the end cuz they were his friends and they worked with him for a long time and you say they shit on his grave.
despite the tribute, they did everything he didn’t want and more! he never wanted any spin-offs (mentioned in an interview that the show should remain as SpongeBob and how he interacted with his surroundings) he didn’t want the show to continue after season 3 and the first movie (he left after that) (yes he came back for the second movie and was a co producer for the remaining episodes until he couldn’t). and you cannot tell me them announcing this movie + spinoffs possibilities A COUPLE MONTHS after he died was in poor taste… he never wanted any of this and it’s disgusting what they are doing now. Nickelodeon will never let this movie go, it’s their golden goose (even cancelling other shows or allowing them to thrive on their network). they waited for him to pass away in order to seize full control of the spongebob name and franchise. yes maybe the people who worked on it actually appreciated Hillenburg, but you can’t tell me Nick gives 2 shits!
@@Farmer_Thanos He literally accepted Kamp Koral. He didn't see any spinoffs coming IN 2008, yk how much the show has changed since then? I do have to admit, this was the SpongeBob movie I did not enjoy watching. I’m dead serious, not even Keanu Reeves could save this movie. It was just so generic and not worth watching. I don't think Stephen Hillenberg was as stubborn to this direction with Spongebob like some fans are assuming, considering he was alive during the production of this movie and the planning of the spin-offs after it. Funny how SpongeBob's friends all admit on how much they care about him, yet there were numerous SpongeBob episodes where each or all of them had hated him and even wanted him to die. Most notably with Little Yellow Book, Mermaid Pants, Krabby Land, inSpongeiac, Mermaid Man & Barnacle Boy 4, Stuck in the Wringer, The Lost Mattress, Scaredy Pants, Sportz?, Patty Caper, To SquarePants or Not to SquarePants, Grandma's Kisses, Driven to Tears, Broken Alarm, Opposite Day, Chatterbox Gary, Don't Look Now, Whatever Happened to SpongeBob?, Gone, and even with Sponge Out of Water (2015), to an extent.
In the spongebob camp show its confirmed that future sandy sent her kid-self to the camp to prevent something from happening in their future, so it created a separate timeline and thats where this movie takes place. So its canon sandy and spongebob did meet as kids in the new timeline
I'm rewatching this video and I'm pissed the intro and the ending part the video was clipped out the best part was Jack saying “Don't put his name in this movie! You sh!t on his grave!”
And not only that, but Tim Hill the writer and director, has worked with Stephen ever since he joined the industry in Rocko's Modern Life and even helped him developing the pilot
Calling the cast & crew "evil" and saying they were "crapping on Stephen's grave" when they were genuinely paying tribute to him is a scummy thing to say, honestly.
Stephen was adamant about no spinoffs for SpongeBobs. It common Knowledge after he died Nick immediately approved a whole bunch of them and movies. I wouldn’t call the cast evil but the producers? Definitely scummy
@@godofchaosandmadness Stephen was never adamant about spin-offs. He just never was interested in them. This movie, and the spin-off shows, were well-known and involved Stephen well before he died. A bunch of losers that never knew Stephen Hillenburg should not tell you what Stephen Hillenburg wanted.
Did anyone tell the Spilling the Milk crew that Present-Day Sandy sent her kid self to Kamp Koral to meet SpongeBob years earlier before their Season 1 meeting?
About Plankton and Gary, later episodes starting from when he stole Gary’s identity to try to get the formula play into the two being enemies. The show’s been surprisingly consistent about it, too.
I dont care for the ANIMATION of the characters(i think the designs are ok, but i just dont like how they move around) but the BACKGROUNDS and just the setting in general looks amazing. What they SHOULD have done was 2d animated characters over the 3d landscapes and setting, it would REALLY help it stand out from other animated styles too
Also... first name basis? As in opposed to Gary the snails LAST name? What tf would it even be? I doubt it's also SquarePants, that's a little niche lmao
I hope the end part where they call the crew “evil” for putting in memory for Stephen’s name is a joke cause if not thats fucked up. He worked on the movie and the crew knew him personally
Btw the sandy meating SpongeBob plot hole with camp coral actually gets patched IN camp coral. there is an episode where it’s basically how most common SpongeBob episodes would go, plankton trying steal the formula and Krans trying to prevent him, the thing is that plankton ACTUALLY gets the formula and honestly he doesn’t need to read it for that long to remember it and the episode is nearly over. You know that he shouldn’t win but it sure seems like he will but, at the last minute (“child”) sandy comes in and destroys the formula (I think she burns or stomps on it but I can’t remember) Without ANY context of the situation so-far so it’s Very surprising that that happened. But before you can question she gets a call from her watch, it’s SANDY. Despite being sandy the ORIGINAL sandy CALLS her to ask ‘little cheeks did you get rid of that formula?’ whom she responds with “yes big cheeks’ THEN sandy says “good cuz that wasn’t even supposed to exist yet I mean imagine how many problems there would have been for me now! Good thing I SENT YOU to that summer camp little cheeks” “well I’m happy to be here” was how I remember the conversation kinda going before she hangs up and the episode ends but the fact they put the effort into adding that really shows that they DO care for the plot and timeline of their show sometimes you just need to look a lil deeper. Like sandy sending her younger cgi self into a summer camp w spongebob to avoid and fix any inevitable continuity errors…
Imagine getting mad at a studio for leaving a memory token of a guy you never met in real life, only because they made a movie (which he had involvement in it)
@@SweatierAcorn no they didn't, it's been proven time and time again Steven didn't have problems with spin offs my guy you all are just parrots repeating the same BS misinformation
Although I feel the movie for the most part is pretty decent, I feel it falls short of the previous two films due to lacking the true comedic soul of the show. While there are some memorable highlights such as the musical number at the third act climax, it unfortunately got bogged down from promoting Camp Coral too much and random plot lines such as the live action zombie cowboys. The film also reuses plot lines from the show and first movie, taking away possible originality. It feels like half a celebration of the SpongeBob franchise and half a large commercial for a spin-off. At the very least, the animation is extremely well done, and the voice acting is top tier.
@@newrallyxeviousgamer wait...what💀. What's going on with nickelodeon. Oh yeah but it is good there was a tribute, but by SpongeBob I meant like modern SB, and the movie just messed with the lore
