Scenic drive! Nice weather, but if it can snow down here in April, then it can definitely snow up there! So, spring is here, but still a ways to go before it's summer!
It is a much prettier route. One that we all took as kids with our parents. I think there was damage, during the year of the big flood. I just can't understand why you didn't just up sticks, and move to Spuzzum. They need a new mayor. lol
Sold my RV last year and no regrets. I'm planning a cross country road trip next year in my Toyota Camry Hybrid and will be using the hotel system access the united states instead of boon docking and going without showers. Safe travels.
Sounds reasonable. I might even suggest that it might be cheaper in the long run. Lots of hotels offer free morning coffee with continental breakfast. Have fun and enjoy 😎.
When I was little, we took a family vacation to see the redwoods. We stayed two or three nights at a motel along the "Avenue of the Giants" in the town of Weott, population 100. I remember the motel had a big, old, but friendly yellow cat. The following Winter, the Eel River flooded and washed the entire town away. They rebuilt, but moved to higher ground along Highway 101, which had more traffic that helped the businesses get reestablished. When we visited a few years later, the town had moved and there were little signs all over on trees, telephone poles, lamp posts, etc. that indicated the high-water marks of the flood. It was, if memory serves, 23 feet tall at its maximum. The town is still there, and I want to visit it again. Oh, and the big yellow cat had died, but of old age, not drowning. Isn't that a fantastic area of California, I was through there as a young teen in 1978 or so, the Avenue of the Giants as well as the Newton B Drury Scenic Parkway which is basically Redwood National Park. Then years later as an adult I have driven through those same area's but that is now getting to be years back unfortunately. I am always in awe of the size of those trees, big fern type plants on the forest floor, moss covering some other types of trees or dead trees laying on the forest floor, it really is a magical place. So I can certainly appreciate how the area struck you as a child and why you would like to go back now.
