Yeah, very nice. I am also a wood turner and I could see an opportunity to make a plate and small bowl out of it. 2 items for the price of one. And a lot less wastage of what looks like a colourful piece of wood.
Great fun and mesmerizing video. I have an old AMT lathe I've had for ages. It's light and hangs on the wall in my small cellar work area. I take it down onto the work bench every so often for some special project. I've made everything from big pieces, like a large stained glass lamp table to fine chess pieces...and the table they're played on. So fun and expanding. My little shop wouldn't be complete without one!
If I had only thought to film some of the insane poop I have turned. Get an off lathe jig to make the rounding cuts. I got a band saw eventually. bottom line, as long as it stays between centers
The hard spray finish destroys the natural appeal of wood. When you do that to wood it loses warmth. It looks plastic! Use oil and wax instead.. Wakodahatchee Chris
Lovely job, all done in just a quarter of an hour! Just one thing: it's a shame to use spray varnish. Oil or wax would have been move natural. We call this Tulip Wood, or Bois de Rose in French. Greetings from France.
