Spoon - "A Face In The Crowd" (Tom Petty Cover) 

So glad I finally saw this. One of my favorite Petty songs. Hauntingly beautiful. And Spoon, you did it justice. Tom listens and smiles.

This song (both the original and this version) whenever it comes on I stop what I'm doing and just feel for a few minutes

I've been lucky enough to see Spoon twice and can't figure out why they're not bigger than they are. Their albums are great, but they're even better live. They have a chill energy that works on stage.

I can't believe how hauntingly beautiful this performance is. These images with Al and Gerardo using those face masks when we were all just surviving. But, then Britt's little face lights up with a smile from...who knows where. Ty Spoon.

Spoon are simply one of a rarefied few bands that always slay. My brother had this b-side on a cassingle for _Free Falling_ & I used to listen on auto reverse Walkman (on repeat) over & over. Respect!

Well played, it reminds me of the commercial where the dude's talking with his boss or something and goes on to say blah blah blah "oh, I had an interview today and uh, NAAAILED IT!!!" I wasn't watching but handling some paperwork I'm instinctively reaching for the volume, thinking Petty and lo and behold, SPOON. Instant fan now for roughly a year or so. Not only nails with this jam but the plethora of others you have been able to create for us fans. The fact is that you have the ability to take me away from all the nonsensical/day to day BS a few minutes at a time. Thank you for what you. HUGE

It is staggering to me I never heard of this amazing band until just a couple of months ago. I heard them on Pandora on my "Dandy Warhols" custom station. First it was one song, then 2...next thing I know I've liked about 12 songs so look them up...formed in 1993, first album 1996, WHAT???? I hate to say better late than never...geez.

Nice drum machine for a drummer. What's that you say? You have a drummer? Really? Where? I don't see one. I don't mind being the guy in the back driving the beat but if you had a drummer playing during this take and did not show him that is taking the piss.

Not bad. But why bother listening to this when you can hear the infinitely superior original by Petty?
