Hi Ed, thank you very much for the wonderful old movies! I'm a glider pilot and flight instructor here in Germany. It is very intersting to see how gliders and other motorpowered planes have been flown in the past! Thanks a lot for your work and passion! Happy new year 2009! Lupo
And Hamilton's Australian Wren. Been trying to figure out the colours of that glider for a while, now. Edit: Turns out it was yellow, like the first Willow Wren.
From 4:32 to about 5:00 you can see some very early B-17's. They appear to be Y1B-17A's, the earliest of the early. Best picture is at 4:50. Very neat to see early soaring, too.
I am working on a short documentary about gliders and was hoping to use some footage like this? Does anyone know where the original clips are and who to get ahold of to use them?
Hello bomberguy In 1937 there was a gliding competition in Elmira, were Lithuanian pilots ( B.Oskinis and J.Pyragius) had participate. They went with two gliders Minimoe Birzietis and Lithuanian construction glider Bro-5 "Ruta" I am interested if there was someone filming this event ( "Ruta" was aerobatic glider, so it showed aerobatics in Elmira) I am searching for the video of this event.
its interesting that each era seems to have its own "broadcast voice". I suspect if you studied it you could identify the era just by listing to the voice.... and the music is similar - each era had its own style. One of the really irritating styles of current news programs is when the anchor turns it over to a reporter and then gets control back - the anchor will say - thank you - but in a way that sounds like the reporter said thank you first and the anchor is then saying (no) thank you.....and does this when the reporter does not even say thank you. It sounds so stupid.
If you look up 'Herr Kronfeld German glider pilot' you get Robert Kronfeld who became a british citizen and fought for the RAF. Interesting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Kronfeld
Magnetic Sound maybe Work remix Stop Hight & Bass ( use Reduct Noise K7 or 33T ). Not easy because I work the Old Film ( Bad Films about French Gliders compétition 1922 ). A long Story... Now I stop...
