Hi Al it’s a lovely spot when the weather is nice…..in December with a 25mph SW and freezing temperatures not so much!!! Hope you are ok mate!! Tight lines cheers ian
Hi Glen well he maintains luck has nothing to do with it !! It’s funny but over the course of the year it’s pretty even catch wise but some days slight differences in rigs and presentation seem to make all the difference. Part of the enjoyment and frustration of fishing is you never really know what’s going to work on any particular day! Thanks again for watching cheers Ian
Hi David thanks once again for watching! So glad you enjoyed the video…. The weather was fantastic which definitely helps…haven’t fished in shirt sleeves much this year though it looks like a heatwave is on its way this week which will be nice! Thanks for watching cheers Ian
I just love watching your fishing Programmes. I might even bump into you guys one day as I live in Bath and quite often fish in the Channel. Tight Lines!
Ah that’s very kind of you! I think using the GoPro on my head gives the viewer the same view as me which definitely helps! I just have to remember not to do sudden head movements which is sometimes not easy!! Looked like a sole tide but they are definitely out there….maybe next time! Cheers Ian
Hi Derek thanks once again for your kind words! I’m sure if we were fishing Chesil or similar clear water venue in those conditions we would have caught absolutely nothing . The channel water may be very murky but it does have its advantages!! Cheers Ian
Great watch as usual Ian. Well done mate. Hope to get out myself later this week. Probably on the boat as never seen so many tourists down here on the beaches. Take care mate.
Hi mark lovely to hear from you again! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes the grockles have already arrived down at Brean and it’s not even school holidays!!! Boat sounds like a great idea….I have tried boat fishing numerous times but unfortunately I’m always sick!! Thanks for watching! Cheers Ian
Hi Ian, I have been watching most of your clips on this channel and am very much enjoying them all. I live in London and have been learning to fish since October last year and I realised I loved this sport. After making at least 25-30 trips to various locations with many mistakes learnt I now consider myself as a competent angler. I must say I do get jealous with you guys because you live so close to most great fishing locations, and here my nearest sea coast is at least 50 miles away and not even great for fishing, to Chesil would be 140 miles and I have been there twice with first trip produced nothing, I have only been to Bristol Channel once in December last year but was blank, I was still an amateur at the time. One thing I noticed you kept mentioned you use size 4 hooks, I know using small hook could get both small and big fish, but I thought size 4 is too small for ray or smooth hood. If you use size 4 then may I ask you question, are you using 2 hooks pennel rig or just a single size 4? I normally use size 2/0 or 1/0 for big fish and small hook size 2 for everything like bass or flatties. Thanks and have great time.
Hi mate thanks for watching and your kind comments! So glad you are enjoying your fishing!! With regards to hook size in summer we generally use size 4 as a pennel ie. 2 hooks. If you use strong Aberdeen type ones ( cox and rawle are good) they will handle hounds and ray easily. The advantage is the smaller species like bream and flatfish are easily hooked too. If using fish /squid as bait we will obviously up the hook size. In summer on Chesil we will fish worm baits on small hooks most of the time ! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Tight lines cheers ian
