THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE UP FRIDAY 9/23/22, BUT RU-vid HAD A 4K HICCUP.
Blood Bowl: Season 2, by Games Workshop, is a tabletop miniatures skirmish game based on Football (not soccer), where players take on the roles of coaches manager teams of fantasy races, all with the goal of smashing each other to a pulp while attempting to score a touchdown.

Nice run down. This is the eighth edition of the game. 4 minutes turns is the chess clock setting. 7s is on a smaller field and with 6 turns per half. It is in the deathzone book but you can find the rules from previous editions online and it was not really changed. One thing to remember about blood bowl is that it is intentionally not balanced. Some teams are just better than others to provide different challenge levels for coaches with different experience levels. Khorne are tricky since they have limited ball handling options and while frenzy is great you can end up having to throw a second block when the dice are against you if you are not careful. Halflings as a stunty team are generally started differently. You want your 2 str 6 treemen and you do not want to spend all your starting gold so that your team value is less than your opponent. This gives you access through the inducement rules to star players and the halfling hotpot(which gives you a chance to steal and use your opponents rerolls). The game can definitely go one sided if you get a numbers advantage but the fast high agility teams (elves and skaven come to mind) can still score touchdowns when they are down players by stringing together not 1s on the dice.

Keep in mind playing halflings without treemen and star players puts you at a huge disadvantage against almost every team. The game has a Tier system each team is categorized into, with 1 being the highest tier and 3 being the lowest. Halflings are tier 3. Still very fun, but difficult to win with!

Thanks for the feed back. I don't really plan on taking the game that seriously, so I don't have any issue with losing. I actually chose halflings because of how silly they are, knowing they are not designed to dominate. I was just commenting on how, regardless of having treeman or star players (I have one of each) bad luck on Armor/Wound/Recovery rolls can topple the game pretty quickly. Like most tapletop wargames, it doesn't have a safety mechanism to keep the losing player in the game. It actually has more of a downward spiral system where a bad turn increases your chance of more bad turns. Which is normal with TTWG, but one of the many reasons I prefer board games nowadays.

As well as someone had mentioned before there are differences in team value, so if you were playing halflings you probably had access to inducements, and the best inducement for halflings is the master chef which allows you to steal the opposing teams rerolls, which is the one benefit to halflings so you can make them turnover more often

Interesting. Now that we are playing sevens it is less of an issue. But that's good to know. I don't really take the game too seriously, so I don't mind a game that feels one sided every now and then. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't playing a rule wrong.

Halfling team without treeman? Also sevens is awesome and much faster!

I've mentioned this in some other videos, but I don't like giving companies like GW money. I grabbed the halfling team on sale at NovaOpen, and only because my friends had already purchased everything else we needed to play, like a pitch, dugouts, the rules, etc.. I also wanted something to paint with my new Speedpaints, and this was a good choice since it was a game we could actually play. I do have 1 treeman now, but that's only because a friend bought it for me as a gift haha. I'd love another one, since my sevens list has 2, but again, not going to give GW any more money than is necessary. I don't proxying a single model for now. It's on my Christmas list :)

@@HowToRollDice out of interest what’s your beef with GW? I know lots of people have issues with them and their business models but as a player of many different tabletop games I see some of these practices elsewhere…. Constant expansions, requirement of multiple expansions to parlay out later owns etc.
