My biggest problem with real estate now is that young people can't afford to buy homes. Without getting political here, we know the factors that are driving up the costs and rates. We're the most indebted nation on Earth and everything is on the credit card, foot, rent and utilities are way up and the Stock Market has been inflated for at least 15 years. While sports cards arent a true investment meaning you're not going to pay capital gains taxes, and if you sell at shows and through private sales, you'll be avoiding the IRS too. There was a study done in 2004 looking at gold, the S&P and the T206 going back to 1975. The T206 outpaced the other two. Its still not a traditional investment, but you can make money. I just wish the hobby wouldn't be treated like Wall Street.

People young and old can buy real estate. Inventory is low all across the U.S, but anyone telling you homeownership is unattainable is leading you in the wrong direction. Do not fall into debt, do not buy that expensive car. Build wealth and assets by setting a goal that will pay dividends. Real estate is a great spot for anyone to start.

The US allows corporations and foreigners to compete with individual citizens for residential property. We can’t just build more homes to compete with those deep pockets. That just feeds the beast. You have to change the laws 1st,imo.

Here's another unique investment for all you peeps. LEGO. Unopened LEGO sets have outperformed the S&P 500 for the 25 years. These whacky alternatives are valid. More for me if people want to pass and that's quite ok. Great video SCD. Love the content

Alternative investments are looked down on. That's because we've been taught to do traditional investing, and that anything outside of that, simply isn't an investment. Some sports cards and memorabilia can be great investments, too, but you'll run into many people who try to tell you different.

To be fair, it’s been gambling since the second they made packs. Packs are a mini slot machine and they were designed that way. The difference is….. We have everything recorded and we see them open the boxes and packs daily. It was always this way and Ultimately even the gamblers will ultimately collect if history continues to help us see the future.

Sports cards are getting hot again and we will see some major appreciations in the next few years. But, ONLY in certain areas of the hobby. Think rationally about who and what you collect...Print runs, notoriety, and condition always will determine future value. Think iconic inserts and RCs with limited populations or serial numbered volume.

Great video. Theres alot of similarities between real estate investing and sports card investing. You could spend a fortune on a Jordan or Mays rookie card, just like you can a house. Real estate involves alot of maintenance, especially if you end up with bad tenants. I had family involved in real estate and it was an absolute nightmare. Getting bad tenants is all it takes to turn you against real estate. It could end up costing you alot of money, just the same as if you might overpay for a sports card. Assuming you didnt overpay for a card like a Jordan or Mays rookie, though, then youre likely in a safe place. No further maintenance is required. Youre done until you decide to buy that next GOAT. Nobody is there to trash on your investment, unless you get that crazy vindictive girlfriend/wife who is determined to make your life hard when she don't get her way.

Sports cards can be great investments if you buy cards that are rare and sought after. Same thing as real estate. People get caught buying too many of the cheap stuff, packs, common cards, etc.

@@planetawesome3575 Absolutely. The thing that most people don't understand, though, is that it doesn't have to be expensive to be an investment. Most items I've bought have been less than a hundred-dollars, and contrary to popular belief, they can actually make the best investments. That's because there's plenty of room for the item to appreciate in value. I mostly purchase original photos, and I've acquired rookies of: Mike Schmidt, Cal Ripken Jr (including his 1982 Donruss image), Willie Mays, Ernie Banks (1954 Topps batting pose stance), Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Akeem Olajuwon, etc. Yes, all these were under a hundred-dollars a piece. Some were even less than twenty-dollars. Best part is that they all should qualify as a type 1 photo. Since the market is still untapped with alot of uneducated people, there's bargains everywhere. The hobby is filled with idiots. Everywhere I turn, I constantly hear people crying about being priced out of the hobby or how the hobby cannot be an investment. Truth is, these people just simply don't know where to look for deals in the hobby.

@@planetawesome3575 Absolutely. There's a big misconception, however, that an item must be hundreds to thousands of dollars in value to meet the criteria of an "investment". This just simply isn't true at all. Most of what I buy is original photos that's less than a hundred-dollars, and contrary to popular belief, they make the best investments. Why? Because the cheaper they are, the more room they have to appreciate. The best part is that I've managed to buy top-tier HOF in that price range, which includes rookies of; Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, Ken Griffey Jr, Mike Schmidt, Cal Ripken (including his 1982 Donruss image), Ernie Banks (including his 1954 Topps batting pose image), George Brett, Jordan, Olajuwon, Larry Bird, etc. There's bargains still in these untapped markets, but most people aren't willing to put in the work to educate themselves.

Call me crazy but I’ll take my returns on high end vintage over real estate I live in the town of 10,000. We have a couple companies pumping in thousands of jobs. Rent has tripled and houses have doubled since 2018ish I don’t see the floor falling out from under vintage, and it being worth nothing one day. I do see a couple companies, deciding they don’t want to be here anymore move out and all of a sudden estate prices plummet or supply rises so much the houses people are buying right now began to fall. I know my real estate example may only be my local area, but it’s not as much of a sure thing as everyone thinks . Just talked to my landlord. He just put money in a house someone trashed . If the house is paid off, it would take him about about seven years to recover the money in rent that he just put in that house
