First of all your hair looks so beautiful! Second of all, YOUR LM MONTGOMERY BOOKS 🤩🤩🤩🤩 I plan on getting more editions of the Anne series over the next few years, I don't even care if I have multiple lol. I have the Tundra edition they're stunnnninnngggggg!!!!! I also really want to get the old 80s mass-market paperbacks! They're so cute and quaint. What a beautiful collection!!

Aw, thanks so much! I had just had my hair done the day before and it held some of it's curl the day later, which I was thrilled about. Yessss, all the Anne edtions! Was it you who had the gorgeous hardcover that has the dust jacket with cut outs in it? I was trying to remember if it was you or someone else.

So far I have only read Anne and blue castle. Blue castle is really good, but the Anne books are better and just always will be my favorite of all time.

I don’t own any Anne 🥺🥺🥺 I only have Jane, Tangled, Kilmeny, and Marigold! I have had Anne in the past but my girls moved out with them. 😂 Ohh! And a short story collection of “ghost “ stories called Among the shadows that I buddy read in October with Courtney. ☺️

I have The Blue Castle and the Emily books in the same edition as your A Tangled Web I think. I like those a lot. And I have Rilla in the first ones you showed. That edition only did the original Anne series, not the inserted ones, and thus why it doesn't have books 4 and 6. I think the rest of my other books are the vintage mass markets. I really loved the Emily books but yeah, a few things with Dean Priest (I think that's his name) and how things were wrapped up didn't work well for me. The Blue Castle is one of my favorites of her. Probably only behind Rilla, which I love.
@beautifulminutiae
@beautifulminutiae Год назад
Yes, I agree about Dean Priest 😬 He’s icky … but to be fair, he’s shown as being highly manipulative and gross, so I guess there’s that. I just wish we’d had more page time when Emily ends up with the person she’s “supposed” to be with. It ends pretty abruptly.
@CourtneyReads
@CourtneyReads Год назад
@@beautifulminutiae see, I didn't like Dean's presentation because although you can tell he's manipulative and creepy, Emily never really realizes that. She's mad when she finds out he lied to her, but otherwise overlooks how creepy he was. That's what I remember it being like at least.

Most of my editions are the vintage ones - I found a stack at a second-hand bookstore last year and a boxed Emily set at a thrift store. I also found a hardcover The Story Girl. But I bought the Tundra Anne for a thirteen-year'old girl, who's is in the process of moving here from India. She loves books and told me of one she loves that is a collection of stories from the east. So lovely to connect like that!

I love thrift store finds! Quite a few of mine are as well! How sweet that you bought Anne for her. The perfect age to fall in love with Anne!

Wow, you're almost there! There is sadly only 1 Jane book and 2 Pat books, and you have all of her other novels. The other books by her that you see are short story collections. I have all of her novels, The Blythes Are Quoted, and her Chronicles of Avonlea short stories collections, and almost all of them are in that mass market paperback edition. It's funny that you called them super old, because when I got them they were new! 😂 I love seeing them together on the shelf, all those pretty pastels. I also have an Anne of Green Gables graphic novel, and 3 of the Anne books in French translation (I'm working on collecting the whole set in the Quebec Amerique edition).

Oh, I thought Jane was a duology for some reason! I'm closer than I thought I was! I love hearing about all of your editions! Shockingly, we don't have an Anne graphic novel ... Claire loves graphic novels, so I'm sure that's on her list.

Late to comment (as usual!), I have 16 of Montgomery's books NOT including the 8 Anne books, some of which I have multiple copies. So at least 14 of those. A few of the Tundra editions, but most are the vintage ones, many of which I got years ago when I was younger. I still haven't found The Story Girl or The Golden Road, those are hard to find! And I'm missing one of the Emily books. I haven't seen any Montgomery books in the thrifting or at library sales in a while, they must be more popular these days. The Blue Castle and Rilla of Ingleside are my two faves, and have been since I read them as a teen.
@beautifulminutiae
@beautifulminutiae Год назад
Wow, you have quite a collection! I usually don't see many Montgomery books while thrifting either except for the first Anne book. I think it's because not many people get ready of Montgomery books, so I snatch them up when I find them!

Great collection! I own the Emily trilogy but I've only read the first book because I had heard that some readers had issues with one of the relationships. I hesitated to continue the series, but now I kind of want to get back to it.

I agree that there are some issues with a relationship, but I still loved Emily as a a character and Montgomery’s writing enough that I enjoyed them anyway!

I love the Tundra editions of Anne. I almost went with that edition when I bought my collection. However, I really wanted the Anne of Windy Willows edition and not the Anne of Windy Poplars edition, so I ended up going with the Virago Modern Classics editions. The Tundra editions are so beautiful though.
@beautifulminutiae
@beautifulminutiae Год назад
The virago editions are really pretty too! You made a great choice. I didn't even know there were different titles for that book!
@lilaccottage
@lilaccottage Год назад
@@beautifulminutiae they are not just different titles. There are apparently quite a few differences. Anne of Windy Willows is L.M. Montgomery's original title and work. However, her US and Canadian publishers wanted the name changed because The Wind in the Willows was super popular and they felt that Anne of Windy Willows was too similar of a title. But then they also felt that the original work was too dark for an Anne book. They thought kids would be scared by some of the content. So, she actually had to change some of the story as well. Her UK publisher, however, didn't see anything wrong with the original title or story and published it as is.
@beautifulminutiae
@beautifulminutiae Год назад
@@lilaccottage wow, I had no idea! I’m reading a biography about her right now and I’m wondering if they’re going to mention that at some point. Makes me want to get that one book in that edition to compare the two!
@lilaccottage
@lilaccottage Год назад
@@beautifulminutiae I know! As I was reading Windy Willows I would come across passages that I was like "Oh! I bet that was changed". But of course I have no idea. It would be really interesting to compare them. I only know any of that because when I was looking at buying a new set I wanted to know why that book had different titles. So I looked it up😂
