2023 starts with a bang producing this unusual catch of a large Spotted Grunter on lure. The dirty water didn't stop the Garrick feeding as well with a good sized fish coming out. The fish were elusive in the off colour water but get the lure in the right area and they can't resist taking a flash.

Excellent vids, guys. How does one go about getting a boat permit for this river?
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST Год назад
Hey Robin the municipality issues local estuary permits but unfortunately there is no public access to this river. The local ski boat club has a launch site but its pretty expensive.

Some years ago, I used to launch a cabin boat at the NSRI slipway. I now use the same type of boat you guys use. I'd love to fish there again.

The grunter gave you a massive fight. The fish you catch are putting your tackle under immense stress. What knot are you using for braid to leader and trying the bucktail to leader?
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST
@FISHINGTHEWILDCOAST Год назад
Hey Paresh I'm using a FG knot to tie my flurocarbon leader to my braid. A little time consuming but worth it for if you hook that really big fish and it slides thru the rod eyes really smoothly if you like a long leader as I do. Standard knot from leader to stainless clip which allows easy and quick lure changes.
