The debut episode of "out-fish-her." We spend the day aboard the Peanutbutter Falcon with Franna Van Zyl (Franna Fishing) and Wolfie Africanus. The aim of the day? Try convince some spotted grunters to eat our lures and share some cool facts with you. We look at how productive the Swartkops estuary is, a miracle in the city of Port Elizabeth, and how we can keep this habitat healthy for future generations.

I know the Zwartkops like the back of my hand, fished it for over 40 years - my Uncles before me. Your presentation is a joy and its nice to see Skulpespruit still so productive. The upper reaches look bleak though, thanks for showing the whole story. Brickfields used to be prime Skippy waters, even up to the Uitenhage weir i remember catching 10kg+ leeries and close on Skippies. Love your work, keep it coming please

WTF ??? How come when I go to Swartkops I never catch these sizes? Excellent video, very enjoyable to watch young enthusiasm. It appears that our young narrator has a bachelors and a major in English? Please keep up the quality of this video!!! edit : Thank you for C & R !

Well done Viv. Brilliant, The knowledge you have needs to be shared. All we can do is educate and educate until it finally sinks in. As anglers we need to allign with DEFF and help in any way possible to rescue our ecosystems from possible future total collapse. Our North Coast systems have almost totally collapsed in the last 10 years, with gill netting in the last 5 years leading to almost complete dessimation of the rivers and estuaries here. I pray that the Eastern Cape and PE systems are looked after.

Awesome Video Viv.

Love the drone footage and its such a pity that pollution from humans that just don't care is going to kill this paradise. Thanks for sharing 🙏

If you're looking to start , always start with prawn baits. Mudprawn or sand prawn. Go light in terms of your line and thinner circle hooks. You don't have to cast far just make sure the prawn is on a shallow mud or weed bank and it won't take long for a grunter to find it.

My family lived in Swartkops for 70 years and the middle road in the village is named after my grandparents. Its such a pity that the polution is at the level it is now mainly coming from Honeywell further up the river. You should never eat the fish even if taken close to the river mouth.
