Easily, the best cover of Sprawl 2. Most of the covers fail to capture the original’s rising tension and inevitable release. Hey Ocean manages this with ease by speedily adding sound elements and intensity early and throughout. A+. It deserves a release on a platform other than You Tube.
I love this so much that I can’t even describe it. I come back to listen to it frequently and it never ceases to amaze me what kind of feelings it can elicit. I wish I had this song anywhere but RU-vid because I’m terrified of the day it disappears!
When I was 12 at sleep away summer camp my counsellor had this song as our wake up alarm every morning and I remember having never felt that peaceful waking up and it still holds a special place in my heart 9 years later
This remains to be one of the most beautiful (simultaneously) heart-crushing & soul-filling pieces of art, that I've had the pleasure of immersing myself in.
Holy shit this only has 20k views and 500 likes?? This is a crime!! My brother's friend burned a CD for him and it included this. It's such an incredible cover I've listened to it hundreds of times! I prefer this to the original, it's melancholy but so calming and comforting. Literally gives me chills every time
I can't even begin to explain how deep that song touches me, even after hearing it so much, everything about it is just wow... there are no words, It's just beautiful.
The way ur music videos are of u and ur band just hanging out nd playin is just awesum and so chill, Ashleigh thank you for your great music and your awesum voice acting
The way Ashleigh Ball sings, it's kinda difficult to describe, but.. it's like surfing a wave or something. It just has that mellow smooth thing going on. I like it.
If the book "Paper Towns" became a film it needs to have this version of this song when Quentin and Margo have their night out. Would be so amazing and perfectly fitting imo.
The good news is that the suburban sprawl format--indeed very unnatural and unsettling--is proven to be completely unsustainable and a total waste. It's on its way out.
I know my single views on your videos won't make a difference between anything, but i honestly think that this band should be much more well known. I like to find bands like Hey Ocean! because nowadays 99% of artists dont create music with passion and feeling like this, they just produce it. I don't know if that made any sense, since english ain't my native language, but i hope you get the idea :) Greetings from Finland.
lovely rendidtion! though the words of the second verse are "And like a mirror, the city lights shine" and not "Black river your city lights shine" other than that this was awesome
I've listened to this song almost every day since the day this video was uploaded. By far one of my favorite songs, and the best cover of anything I've ever seen. The original is a million miles away from competing with this. Excellent job, Hey Ocean. You guys are a really talented group - saw you last night at South Moe's in Englewood. Blew my mind how well you did. c: Oh, and Aidan Knight / The Friendly Friends did very well with this cover as well. c:
Obligatory Applejack/Rainbow Dash reference. Also this song might be my favorite of theirs, and I've known them for a few months now, and this is a cover. Still, they have about equally good original songs.
