It's so difficult! I'm trying to teach myself to sculpt, but coming from someone that's only ever worked in 2D I find it hard to wrap my head around it.
I'm working on a sombrero for my giant skeleton. I was debating about different materials. I was not sure what would handle weather well and be light enough though. I used chicken wire hoping to strengthen it enough to avoid being torn apart in the wind. Almost done. Just need another can or 2.
You are the best living example of if it isn't homemade, it isn't Halloween.😊🎃🎃 You just keep getting better and better with the canned creeps, Mr. H.👍 It's so neato watching you enjoy your job and have so much fun while doing it. Also, i need to thank you for giving me a great idea for tv night( eveynight, lol).. that comment about the 70's cop's mustache has me searching for Joseph Wambaugh, Police Story episodes, or at least the ol' fail safe, Adam 12. 😊👍 Anyway, Ol Frankie Boy looks outstanding, sir. Can't wait to try it myself 😊😊 keep on a keepin on, scare Bear🙃🤙
Thanks for the tip about letting it sit a little longer. That foam stuck to me like melted marshmallows😂😂😂it was a disaster 😮I could not get it off💀 But with perseverance, I made my oogie boogie mask!! Also the scarecrow you posted last week, I made one from vines and twigs and it turned out amazing!! Always love to watch you create!!
@@StiltbeastStudios Thanks to you, my Halloween decorations this year will be OVER THE TOP! I've already gotten compliments from the neighbors and only have the scarecrow up😂
The way I see it, Frankenstein is a last name. Victor created a son named Adam and they both have the last name of Frankenstein, and just like you can call a friend by their last name, you can call Adam by his last name.
I love the fact we see the do's and, don'ts. That we see you recover from this and, that. Instead of edited to make you look like you're perfect every time. That's what makes you videos so real and, so bloody impressive.
Im 100% winging it lol. I have been for 30+ years of making stuff, so I know a lot of what to avoid from past mistakes, and I try to apply my "knowns" in new ways to new materials so there will be bumps along the way that hopefully I help others avoid.
I love your work!! However, for the first half of the video, all I could vision was Ron Perlman {Clay Morrow} from Sons of Anarchy LoL I can't wait for the next video!!
On one side note and in an attempt to make some sort of meaningful contribution, for me, when I am attempting to do something of this nature and I look at it and think it just needs "one more little thing" it is time for me to stop. Typically when I proceed past that point I find myself wishing I would have stopped. It took me a long time to realize this. Your results may vary! LOL.
Why didn’t I see this before I tried using Loctite Foam? I had this crap all over me & my house. It took a while for me to get it off my hands.. 😂 I wished I would have seen this 2 weeks ago. I absolutely love your videos.. ❤ Yes, I’m a female so I didn’t know better..😂😂
Also I was wondering if there was any alternatives to loctite spray foam because where I live you can’t get that type only really greatstuff@@StiltbeastStudios
Your videos inspired me to try spray foam to make a Last of Us Clicker mask for this Halloween and I'm super happy how it turned out. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Around the 23 minute mark, I realized how much the sculpt was really looking like Michael Berryman. He is one of the great sci-fi and horror icons and would make an excellent Frankenstein monster IMHO.
I love your style, Alan you always make such awesome stuff like magic with that foam. When I was a kid would go through the Funhouse, at our local fair and it took five seconds to go through, but I love them and some of the monsters that were in there remind me of the stuff you make with the spray foam, I love all that stuff Just the way they look they’re creepy in their own right. Thank you Alan 🤘🏻🎃🤘🏻🩷💀😱 you’re an amazing man you’ll always be my hero👍🥇
Really impressive! Here is a foam tip: To make the surface of any foam more durable. You can use the BMC formula of 3 parts. Acrylic paint, Modpodge and water. BUT, I have discovered that if you use the same formula but make it 4 parts: Acrylic paint, Modpodge, Water and Minwax Polycrylic Clear Coat. A thin coat of this mixture will dry in about 10 minutes. Speed it up with a hairdryer works better. Give the foam 3 or 4 thin coats and let it completely air dry for a few hours. You will be surprised at how HARD the surface has become.
@@StiltbeastStudios Yes. Spray foam is much more dense than regular styrofoam. The process I mentioned was created for regular styrofoam. BTW: I shared your spray foam sculpting vid to one of my FB groups. I know they will like it.
He’s awesome ! Back in the 70s channel 56 in Boston had creature double feature every Saturday at noon . I love it more than cartoons my younger sister would break out into a cold sweat 😂. Have a great night
Have you ever made gargoyles out of the Loctite foam? so far I made pumpkins , but I would like to see you do gargoyles so I can mimic your work. It’s very awesome.
This reminds me of the foam clay stuff. It’s not really easy to work with. I feel this canned stuff is gonna be easier. Gotta try it. For now I use old clothes, stuffing and yarn to make masks. Yarn is getting a little too pricey.
its a really fun medium, just respect it- dont breath in the fumes and dont wear it for a few days so it can fully off gas, they say 48 hours. have fun!
What the heck wow epic absolutely love the Frankstein's head and arm set it's very well done and right to the classic original movie of Frankenstein this one is the top best while watching it gave me some cool classics that could be some cool make ideas like The Mummy, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the Incredible Hulk, the Hunchback of Notradame, Slimer from the Ghost Busters overall I absolutely love the whole Frankstein head and arm set make
Fascinating medium, still have not tried it but I will and in the meantime I get to learn everything as you share it, thank you. Also that devil snail shake is winning the tinterweb today.
I liked the commentary along with the build, and I liked the tips sprinkled throughout this build... I'm definitely making something today. Earlier this year I purchased some staring statues (like Disney used in the library) where the the heads of the busts would follow everyone when they walked past... now I need to make a place for them in my haunt.
This looks so good!! Have you ever played around with a latex layer on top of the sculpted foam? I'm not sure if it would cure, but i'd love to encapsulate a form for ease of painting and building onto it...
I’m in the process of making an original camp crystal lake sign, to go with my mask and machete I made. My hardest thing is to let go of the fact it will not look exactly like it a from the movie. I’m still learning 😂 You sir never fail to amaze me with your talent!! Boris is my favorite. I love your version.
Hello Allen! Ive been watching your videos and been inspired! TO BUILD STUFF! I took art class in High School and College, but it was never as much fun as This! I made a set of Demon wings, and horns out of Spray Foam to wear to Renaissance Festival.. strangers were complimenting me.. My question today is what glue can I use to permanently bond pool noodle to cardboard.. and withstand weather...?
Hey, It's a legit question. Ive tried glue gun, and I ended up with 2nd degree burns and blisters on my fingers.. I'm not a Patreon.. do I have to be????
well, card board itself wont really withstand weather by itself. and pool noodles are really hard to glue- Id use a mechanical bond like zipties if there was any way to do that- if you can only use glue then Id use contact cement.
Can you do a video for a startle shell? Not just any shell. I’m wanting to cover my septic cover with a large turtle shell. It measures 30x30 circular and 15” high. (city water)
I have been binge watching the channel all year. These foam masks are so simple and fun. And though the media does come with sacrifice the end result is still quite good. I use a dremel and random orbital sander to smooth out my foam head/masks and works but is quite tedious extra work.Thank you for sharing your techniques with all of us. You are so kind to do so and a true artisan.
It’s a mushy mess , then all of a sudden it’s an amazing piece ! Your talent is insane ! Is your house full of things you’ve made ? If so , would you consider doing a video tour ?😃 Admiring your work from Australia 💖
thank you, observations about my art and artists are something that is a byproduct of talking my way through projects like this one, its part of why I love doing them.
You realize that Frankenstein is the doctor who made "the monster" Frankenstein's monster never had a name. Just an FYI awesome video dude. You got me as a new subscriber, for better or worse. 😅😂😅😂😅 Take care, ~Jonny5🥁
I guess you didnt watch the whole video lol. Dr. Frankenstein is the dr. and Frankenstein is the monster. You were misinformed. If you draw the monster and show it to a five year old kid in China, they will say Frankenstein. there are thousands of books and movies with the monster on the cover and the label Frankenstein acting as a label. no one made the argument you did till the 1970's but some people ran with it. popular opinion is that the monster is called Frankenstein so it is- even if it was wrong once its been wrong so long its now correct. dr. frankenstein didnt go to 12 years of medical school to be called frankenstein, so they mean the monster is Frankenstein. the monster is his son, so the name is inherited- but Dr. is not inherited, thats earned. Mary Shelly called him frankenstein in an interview so thats what I will go with...can you tell I have monster opinions? lol thanks for the sub!
Just discovered this channel and I am already a huge fan of what you are doing. I love monsters and I love anything invoking imagination and you have perfectly wed the 2. Great job on Frankenstein. This video has also really made me want to get a Frankenstein action figure for my collection
Any way to save/ reproduce a huge clown head? I'm no artist and this one's head is about 18". Its just a head and hands, rest is fabric and wires. I'd love to find a new one but I cant find one. Maybe I need to foam one. How do I start?
No. this is an invalid argument. If I draw this head 100 years from now and show it to a five year old in China- they will say Frankenstein. so his accepted common name is Frankenstein. Dr. Frankenstein didn't go to 12 years of medical school to not be called Dr. - so if they meant the DR then they would say Dr. Frankenstein they always just say Frankenstein so they are referring to the monster. there are thousands of book and movie covers with a picture of the monster on the front and the name Frankenstein written under or over it. its a label- its his label, his name. there are a few dozen articles backing me up with reference to he past 80 years, not unevolved rhetoric citing a book from 1818 that has never adjusted its viewpoint. medium.com/curious/you-hereby-have-permission-to-call-the-monster-frankenstein-9f89f106af6d link to one for you. Get out of the habit of correcting people if the results don't matter or get anyone hurt, tell me to wear a respirator cause this crap is toxic, but put down the monocle and leave this one alone- Its Frankenstein and EVERYONE who saw this knows who I mean. and, go make stuff!
After it hardens, let's say you want to clean up or square up the chin. Can you use a hobby knife or a break off razor knife to carve or chisel away at it?
No bolts in the neck, not a single stitch or staple to be seen. but make sure the arms are long enough for a tiny shirt, because that's what he's known for.
@@StiltbeastStudios lol nooo a lizard . Use a visor from a helmet as the eye. And try to make scales patterns around a teethy grin . No penis just a one eyed lizard please
I don't do that cause I don't want the skin to break- then you have an issue with particulates and would need to seal it. definitely wear a particulate respirator if ya do.
That *_Frankenstein's monster_* looks like *_Victor Frankenstein_* _-I won't refer to him as doctor regardless of how many years he went to school because people who insist on using titles are elitist snobs or those who carry water for elitist snobs-_ harvested some body parts from a leper colony graveyard. 😏😉🤪
