Andy Phillips does a full review of the Spray Max 2K Clear Glamour 368 0061 automotive clear coat. This two part spray is the closet professional clear coat in a can, but DOES IT REALLY WORK ???

I appreciate the review but this clear is meant to be sprayed in minimum 2-3 coats and actually has a higher tac so can be sprayed heavier than shown without runs. Actually very easy to get a factory looking finish with no orange peel using this clear coat.

I did the hood and roof of my Corolla used 2 cans ,did 2 quick coats had a little left started 3 on hood but started sputtering,shaking to get what's was left in can..i also wasn't pleased with spray pattern.. definitely have to wet sand and compound... two cans might get you a nice job on 1 panel

It looks like that stuff works pretty good. I'm going to have to do some work on the nose of the Mercedes so maybe I'll look at that as an option. Sounds like the price really isn't bad for what you get. Thanks for sharing!

Soak the bottom 2/3 of cans in a container of hot water it reduces the orange peel pretty good

$40 in Canada. In Canada we have a store called NAPA. They carry it. But the quality is unmatched from an aerosol can.

I used it on a 'cycle a few years ago , not in any way a pro painter so the results are't that, but for me I was OK and it still looks good , no scratching etc.

Replacing a fender on my 2004 Ford F-150... it's off the car and I have the color coats already on(Ford True Blue, Duplicolor). I watched the videos and read most of the comments. here's my experience. Just sprayed on the first coat of the Spray Max Glamour and will wait about 15-20 minutes to coat it again, Disappointed that I got a few spits from the spray nozzle and I did get one small run as I got too much on in one area. Not too much orange peel which is good. I used about a 10-12" wide spray pattern as recommended on the can as opposed to shooting the whole length of the fender. I think I'll do long strokes for the second coat. I check back when I have it done.

Can anyone tell me how long I need to wait to recoat using the 2k glamour clear coat. I ran out of paint on the third coat and I have some areas that aren't covered well and the finish isn't so glamorous on those areas. I have another can ordered that should be here in a week.

I used it within 24 hrs with no problem. I heard others say 48 hrs.

I wonder if you held the can a little closer when spraying if it'd go on a little smoother? I think sometimes, I'm not a professional painter by any means, when spray paint is held too far away when painting in certain conditions that the droplets can somewhat dry before it hits the surface and cause a bit of a rough finish. Also, how many cans would you say it would take to put 2 coats on a Lexus ES 330 rear bumper? Thanks for the video 👍, I think it turned out good.

I think you're correct 'bdoeine'...I'm getting ready to use this product on a front fender I'm replacing on a 20 year old pickup. I encounter the rough finish problem when I used the Duplicolor spray cans to put the color down on the fender. I concluded that I was way too far away from the panel as I applied the paint, thus it was going on 'dry'. I found another video where the guy discussed this and he actually sprayed a fender and his hand was literally 3-4" from the panel, and it came out great. I was surprised how far Andy was from the panels Andy was when he did this video.. Of course...the closer you are to the panel the more danger you have from runs and sags. Needless to say, spray painting, even with a gun is tricky and takes a lot of practice and experience.

I'm going to try it to touch up an old sink. When i was looking around, this stuff came up. Don't know the result yet though, or if this is anywhere close to what you are going to do

FYI, the label clearly states that this product contains Isocyanates. There no Organic Vapor Cartridge Respirator that can filter out ISOCYANATES. Positive Pressure Respirator should be used. I know many people that have become sensitized to these products. Once you have become Sensitized you will get deathly sick any time you get near many types of paints, solvents,body fillers etc. Stay safe.

a darker color car would be a better test, silver is really hard to see flaws.. something like black will show the flaws

It will, but make sure you sand off all the old clear, you'll see lines(edge of old clear) just keep chasing it off with 1000 grit till gone, it will look frosted, but the clear will make it new

it works but unless youre in a legit paint booth and even then it doesn’t look oem. orange peel, clamy-ish look. better off doing detailers perspective on headlights with sanding it down, refining the scratches with 1500, then polish, then either ceramic coat or a protective film. spraymax would be the cheaper quicker option but looks funny next to a brand new headlight

What Mackie said is incorrect. I've done many many pairs of headlights that look oem. sand from 800-1500 or 2000 and spray wet and evenly and they are incredibly clear without needing additional work

If the color coat is good, no. If the color coat has an orange peel finish or flaws, then yes

I tried the car rep clear. It started to crack on the 4th day like cracks which appear on a windshield after a rock chip. By the 6th day in garage the whole paint job was like a web of random cracks in clear coat. I followed every instruction to a tee. Looked online and found another guy with the same issue in a sub comment. Found the same guy commented on all the car-rep videos. I must have missed it in my researching. Anyway that guy was right and I learned the hard way. I'm being very calm considering I am just now in the process of sanding it all off by hand.

@@garyny4073 I will not rule out possible human error but the fact that someone else had the exact same issue and he cannot figure out why it happened, I am not really positive. On the human error side it could have been the basecoat I used. I used an enamel which I know is not ideal however from everything I read and looked into they said it would be fine as long as it was fully cured. I let it cure for 3 weeks in dry weather and then sanded it with 800 grit and then a grey 3M buffing pad. It seemed hard and fully cured to me... It could have been that. It could have been that after 2 days of drying/curing when the outside temp was 70 degrees I decided to turn heater off thinking I didnt need it... Then that night the temp went down to 45 and then back up the next day with rain and humid weather... Not sure but of all paint defects that are commonly associated with painting I had never imagined after 5 days of looking great the thing just went south. Cured to quickly? The car rep is very sensitive in its tolerance? The enamel color I used was not cured enough after 3 weeks? In fact trying to find a video or example of it online had been fruitless. Usually cracking as I mentioned is common with ceramics, glass, fiberglass boats. Hard to figure out and hard to correct the error without knowing exactly. I plan on using spray max 2k clear but now.... If I was nervous before... Yikes... I dont know.

This stuff is amazing for touch ups. I wouldn't recommend it for anything larger than a painted bumper though. Unless things have changed I don't believe manufacturers approve of charcoal respirators for isocyanate 2K paints. Fresh air supplied safety gear is recommended. That chemical is deadly and you really need to protect yourself.

A few things you want to use a P100 3M filter with this stuff. and second you should cover all your skin. You also need to wear safety glasses. The spray can still get in your system through your eyes and even your ears. I wear ear plugs. You need to do three coats and the third coat should be a wet coat. This is not like rattle can paint so it does not run like normal rattle can paints. The only thing I do not like is the product is only good for 24 hours then you have throw it away according to your city codes on paint disposal.

After the first use, store the can in the refrigerator. Cold temperatures slow down the reaction with the hardener. This will not give you unlimited pot life, but it can help extend the lifespan by a few days. Car Rep and Eastwood make a 2k that does have unlimited pot life, but it takes longer to fully cure and the Eastwood product cracked five days after I sprayed it on three different small projects. I haven't tried the Car Rep product, but I'm hesitant to do so after my experience with Eastwood's version. I've not had any issues with Spraymax.

You really shouldn't spray this stuff without skin or eye protection, and Harbor Freight is the last place on Earth I'd trust my lungs to. Get a paint suit, full face 3M respirator, and fresh P100 organic vapor cartridges. An air-fed mask is preferable in a closed garage, but fresh cartridges will protect you for a period of time before they load up. Isocyanates are not something to take lightly, one bad exposure can sensitize you to the point where you'll never be able to use automotive paints again.
