We have amazing free printables on our site all the time, but how do you mount them so that they look great on your wall? This awesome new tutorial shows you how to mount art to a board and have it always come out perfectly!

+The DIY Mommy yes! I was in charge of a summer craft at girls camp for 300 or so girls, and I figured out that method for the board mounted printables we used! Otherwise it is impossible to line up a trimmed piece of paper to your board!! And it almost always comes out perfectly!!

Thanks so much for this! Can't wait to try. Have you ever had an issue with knots in the pine board bleeding through onto the image?

I haven’t. But it is a possibility, I have a piece of furniture I bought and a knot has bled through the paint! So annoying. However, I have seen a video where some one sealed the knot with clear nail polish... I’ve never tried it? But it definitely seems like an interesting fast solution maybe worth testing?!

I painted a bare pine sideboard a few years ago, first priming it with two coats of a primer that was supposed to prevent knots bleeding through, and they STILL did. I've decided to just think of the piece as "distressed". The ensuing dings on the corners are adding to the "look". Wish I'd known about the clean nail polish trick, though.

This is beautiful, innovative, and I love the idea, but what do you do for a UV coating? I'm worried about UV damage!

Pam, these prints are literally just from my printer- so they aren’t expensive at all. If the piece you want to display is important enough to worry about UV rays, then I might not mount it this way since it is permanent and may ultimately hurt the print itself!!

+Diamond Dudes I am pretty sure I used a pine 1x10. But you could use plywood, mdf any flat boards you have!

So bloopers show modge podge being used? Did it not work? Why is the mounting spray better? How much do they cost to make each in total??

+Bekah B I've actually used modpodge (slightly watered down) brushed on boards too! And it works usually really well. But this paper was bubbling and not laying down flat- i think it was because the cardstock was too thick. Modpodge works better when I used color copies on like 25lb paper... So instead we went with 3M Super 77 spray mount which always works well! We used it all through college for our display projects- it really is the best spray mount out there! (The other problem with the modpodge was that it was old and the little seal ring at the top had glued itself shut to the bottle! And that is where we got the mess!!)
