Vinegar makes a great weed killer to get rid of weeds in driveway and concrete without the use of harmful chemicals. I also show in this video how to use a plastic bottle as a sprayer without needing a spray rig. Weeds sprayed with vinegar die in 3 days and are completely gone in 2 weeks.

From the Howard Garrett website: CORN GLUTEN MEAL PRE-EMERGENT The timing for applying corn gluten meal for pre-emergent weed control is just before the weeds start to germinate. We usually guess that to be February 15 to March 15. Liquid corn gluten meal spray - a listener/farmer recommendation that's a great idea. 2014 The way we use corn gluten on our fields - we make a tea out of it and spray on the fields once a month from Autumn to May. Works very well. We use 2 to 6 cups of corn gluten to 100 gallons of water and spray it on with a pull behind sprayer. We just put the corn gluten meal in panty hose and suspend it in the sprayer when we fill it up, then swish the panty hose, remove and stir. Use at about 35 gallons per acre. Simple, economical and effective.

Love vinegar cause the weeds hate it. Vinegar, soap and water also killed off pesky aftergrowth when the trees in our backyard were cut down. "Arborist" came back a few times after the cut, scored the trunks and poured toxic chemicals and keronsene and none of that worked. Not to mention we live in a high fire zone so not really smart to be soaking trunks in kerosene. Duh! Chopped all the way around the trunk and poured on the vinegar mixture. It's been over 6 months now and no further growth has been noted. Love your videos. Thank you for sharing.

This does kill the weeds, I've used it. BUT - now you have a bunch of dead weeds sticking up and the dead ones are harder to dig up than the live ones. At least with the live ones you get some root out too. The dead ones just break off, usually just ABove the surface, and you can still see the darn things.

Hey, great tips. I also love the DIY bottle idea. Over the years I've bought many spray bottles from dollar stores, which work, sometimes , for only a few times and then, to the garbage.

I really enjoy your videos....after working at Dow in agricultural organic research I WILL NOT use commercial weed killers. Ethically, this is part of the reason I got out of industry. You are very positive and chipper, also. Good explanations and demonstration. Your driveway looks like mine.....what state are you in?

In Germany this is not legal. Anyway you won't destroy the roots. Use better boiling water!

dergartenkanal using vinegar in the garden is not legal in Germany? Also one the weed dries out after using vinegar the plant won’t come back from the root if it doesn’t get water. If the plant does get water, yes some will come back

@@JagReport On paved surfaces you are not allowed to use vinegar against weeds, even diluted. Here vinegar is strictly forbidden against weeds, because on sealed surfaces the water can not seep away. So these substances get into the sewage and are "disposed of" via the sewage system. From vinegar to weeds is generally not recommended, it is indeed a home remedy, but still questionable as a weed killer. Vinegar makes no difference between crop and weeds. Vinegar also has no lasting effect, it must always be reworked and in the long run, the soil is broken.

Tried soap, vinegar and salt etc, takes too long and half the time doesn't work so instead simply boil a kettle of water to the fullest than pour over any weeds, they shrink and turn brown in 1-3 days. Sadly you need to do this weekly or more to keep them at bay but at least its better then salt or vinegar which can damage stone, brick and cement.

Vinegar is eco friendly but really doesn't keep the weeds down (for me). Doesn't take long for them to regrow. Over the years I've spent a fortune on vinegar, salt, dish soap, etc. and it initially browns them out but all you need is for it to rain and they grow back quickly. If you have a small patch of weeds along a walkway it works, but for a large driveway I have found that it just only lasts maybe two weeks. Dragging boiling water out to the driveway is not only dangerous but very difficult to do. I won't use Roundup too many woodland creatures around.

I agree with you regarding the safety of some sprays. I have used Path Clear with good but temporary results. Have you tried a weed trimmer? Surprising but temporary results. Doesn't harm the bricks and is easy on your back and knees. I am getting mixed messages on whether vinegar harms paving stones. Too expensive a risk if they start to crumble!

Pretty neat, But what happens when they're dead? now you just have all these dead brown weeds? or do they shrivel up and blow away or do you have to pull them up, or....? Appreciate your comments about needing full sun - very helpful! Have you ever tried salt for areas not in full sun?

Yes + Use Road Salt, it's cheaper & very Effective or if you can get liquid swimming pool bleach it's stronger + road salt "BUT" bleach will whiten or stain the surrounding area. If your lucky you can usually brush the dead weeds away. Vinegar is an excellent killer. with the salt it's very coarse you have ground it up to make up to be fine. And make sure that it is dissolved

Crabgrass is an old agricultural crop but was replaced by corn and wheat because it was just as easy to grow and worth more money.

@@tunapig Salt can damage bricks and concrete I have read, still doesn't stop a billion desperate people trying to stop weeds from growing on patios be it concrete or brick. Better then Vinegar and Salt is boiling hot kettle water poured over weeds and within 48hrs its shrunk and few days later brown since roots died at least this wont damage surface.

yeah it will, even near boiling or hot tea will given that it goes to the roots otherwise it will recover. This method is better though.

I read about so many of these tips. It's always the same stuff: white vinegar, peppermint oil, baking soda, cleaning vinegar, corn starch.... You try buying any of them. I did see, once, a tiny corner of a shelf at the supermarket and the label 'White Vingar.' Guess what, it was out of stock.

Flamethrowers for burning the roots. You'll know when the soil starts glowing in bits burning. And I am not joking and this is not extreme either, people use it often in the backyard. If you don't have access to a flamethrower you can use blowtorch as well.

We have many weed grass in our lawn grass so how did we remove it...its really time consuming to remove it by hands so could u please help...if we apply this process it certainly affect our lawn grass

There is no way other than manual labor. The alternative - spray rounup glyphosate all over everything - ALL WILL DIE.....and start from scratch with a new lawn from seeds. Spray the glyphosate in something like November or December - then in January till the soil and prepare for spring. Wait until March - with the soil tilled and extra compost etc and time to remove any weeds (if there are weeds - shows you soil is ready and any remaining glyphosphate has decomposed over winter i.e these are *new weeds*) In March, plant the seeds and in a few months you will have an amazing lawn. Then take care trimming and cutting properly to avoid the weed problem again. In the interim period when tilling soil after glyphosate massacre - mix new compost, existing soil and some sand and even some barbecue ash - you will make a nice foundation for the new lawn. (only use barbecue ash from untreated wood charcoal NOT briquettes - the briquettes contain all sorts of nasty chemicals & binders that will poison you garden - oh, your garden has already been poisoned !!!! - not really, only kidding - the glyphosate is utterly deadly for plants but decomposes in a few weeks and no lasting effects - but petrochemicals in briquettes are long lasting environmental contaminants)

useless. You need sodium hypocholite 15% on the gravel stones - cleans them up nice and bright. Except - wear rubbish clothes or they will get bleached. ....and dont use near plant you want to live and it kills EVERYTHING.

Good video. I tried vinegar that was diluted. It was leftover from another project. It didnt help. Actually a month later they were bushy like theyd been on steroid. Later i put muriatic acid on them. They got dryied up a bit but filled in even thicker. So i pulled out the big guns. A poured hydrochloric acid on them. The smoke looked cool with the security lights on. Guess what? The weeds never went away. They look like a row of hedges in the cracks of the drive way. Oh in there some where i put a torch to them. Map gas. These are tough. Im about to ho postal. Ill let you know who dies first me or the weeds.

It’s not about the money; it’s about efficacy and sustainability. There are no metal parts to rust with a simple diy plastic squeeze bottle, plus that bottle can be re-used for many years.
