Learn how to kill weeds in cracks of a driveway, sidewalk, gravel or flower beds. This method can be used almost anywhere you wan to kill the weeds in an area where grass is not growing. I am testing two sprays side by side. First I use 45% vinegar. (amzn.to/3hLEQ6y) Second, I mixed glyphosate with Sureguard. amzn.to/3ABv1B2 Sureguard can help keep the weeds gone for months. If you don't want to use synthetic chemicals, then using vinegar may be the way to get rid of weeds. Make sure to follow the label on the herbicides and wear PPE.

My Daddy used Diesel fuel for the cracks in the driveway and for Fire Ant Mounds in the yard. He has been dead for 5 years (God Bless his Soul). Mama still has bare spots in the yard 5 years later. It worked real good though. I don't think he ever viewed RU-vid.

I have been using 30% vinegar for years now and mix it 1 to 1 with water. I saturate the cracks even where weeds are not growing. This prevents regrowth by changing the soil ph making it very acidic. This works better than the chemicals for killing and preventing. I have compared it to Ortho Ground Clear and it works as well or slightly better.

Thank you for the side by side. I think I will pick up some of that Sure Guard. One thing that Allen Hane does on his channel when comparing organic to chemical sprays is the cost per gallon. I use the vinegar 30% as I have commented before. That costs me $19 dollars per gallon. I don't know exactly how much those two chemicals cost you per oz. but lets just say you had about $5 in chemical in the gallon of spray. As Allen says, the chemical spray is usually much cheaper per gallon of mixed spray than the organic.

Ok, that SureGuard is expensive at $238 on DoMyOwn.com and when combined with the glyphosate the combination spray is $6.00 per gallon. So, if I use 2 gallons to kill weeds in my yard on any given day: chemical spray total cost - $12, vinegar spray total cost $40 and the weed probably won't come back.

Vinegar does kill plants and the acid can remove oil from ashfalt drive, when binding oil is gone ashfalt will crumble.

Looks like vinegar is a good pressure washer fluid. Id spray the entire driveway. Will lighten it up

Does it make a difference if you hit them with the trimmer then spray? Or do the leaves help them absorb the killer?

Probably works either way but I would normally leave the leaves to take in herbicide

Exactly, next to my sons school there is a lady that goes around with a wagon spraying weeds with vinegar on the public sidewalk and next to other people’s properties, the whole place stinks even from inside the car

Hello, just wanted to chime in here for what its worth. Vinegar and Glyphosate have different modes of action. Glyphosate is systemic which means it is absorbed by the plants leaves (foliar) and translocates to the root where it inhibits amino acids (short version) necessary for plant growth. Vinegar kills weeds by dessication, drying out of the plant tissues. Sure Guard (flumixazin) can be absorbed by the root or foliar. If you apply vinegar first, it will dry out the leaves which will not allow the Glyphosate or Sure Guard to be absorbed. Secondly, SureGuard can be absorbed throught root via an application to the soil, but in this video's example, it would be difficult to get the SureGuard down into the soil because that it is being applied to the asphalt. Sure there is soil underneath but you would have to figure that the proper application.

Glyphosate, for me, takes 8-10 days and lasts 3-8 months depending on the grass/weeds. I was mad the first time using but very happy after with results knowing what to expect.

I'd have to sit down and do the math exactly, but it seems like it would be better to go with a granular like Snapshot in bed/rock areas for long term control. Much safer for most desirables especially in planted areas.

I like using sureguard because I can mix it with gly. With granular products, I have to spread and then go back to spray existing weeds. Just my thoughts but I see your point

It works, but doesn't kill the roots so the weeds will regenerate. Glyphosate kills the roots and stops new weeds for however ling it stays in the soil.

all those chemicals end up in our water, and grandkid's and great grandkid's water supply.kills wildlife. Why not just go outside once a week and cut the little weeds before they grow?
