Mick Housby on his farming career going from horse drawn to horsepower. Dairy farming in a 100 head L shape barn. Case and Deere tractors and combines.
This week’s interview is extra special! My 7810 is my favorite tractor, I’ve run it for 23 years without a single problem, just normal maintenance. I owe that tractor-a lot!
Enjoy hearing these farmers tell their stories. They are telling it like it was, and I know what they are saying is true, cause it was the same for me.
Thanks for another great video On your channel. I joyed because of the Nate Johnson interview and I greatly enjoyed this interview as much. Was so interesting talking about the old times. I really enjoy these older farmers talking about all their years in farming and the massive changes they have seen. Will keep watching you. Enjoying your channel. The Iowa farm boy. Steve 😊😊👍🙏✅🇺🇸🇺🇸
I still pick corn with a New Idea 325. When I started working on dairies in the late 80s we were still using them. We had one set up with a shelling unit so we could shell corn for the 500 lambs we also fed. That sheller made clean corn. My neighbor lost his hand in a mounted picker. He had to rip his fingers off to get out of it. He managed to get back on the tractor and drive to the neighbors for help. They were milking at the time. The guy working there was a medic.
Another great video. If you love what you do, you don’t need or want a day off. If you don’t love your job in agriculture you are going to have a miserable life. Keep’em coming.
His wife sounds like so many hardworking dairy farming women I’ve known, a lot of times tougher than the men. My 94 year old grandmother still insists she put 3/4 of the hours on the JD B and “my completely deaf left ear proves it!”
He was putting in a pipeline, and my grandfather and his 3 oldest sons were milking cows by hand. Power never came to the farm until 59'. So everything was stored in a hole under a building full of ice.
Love these videos think of all the ups and downs this farmer has seen in his career .To bad about his children having marital and health problems .Looks like his back is shot from all the farm work
Usually, if you had problems with a model, you wouldn't go buy another one, just a little newer. I mean, I wouldn't go by another brand new Chevy or Ford if the first brand new one wasn't that great. I realize tractors are a little different
