I'm guessing that it is an illusion that all those buildings look so close. I wonder in reality if we were to see from above if there is actually some distance in between the houses and the mountain face.

and to think as kids we used get drunk and the next morning we would climb up top and do boulder rolling .... a bunch of guys tipping and kick starting large boulders down hill sides ...devastatingly fun

По хорошему нужно провести серию таких взрывов, которые спровоцировали бы наиболее "созревшие" обвалы и камнепады, это бы снизило вероятность катастрофы. Это бы повысило, в том числе, и стоимость самих участков и домовладений.
I wouldn't live in an area being so close to a mountain. Boulders are bound to become loose and dislodge from the body of a mountain and fall to it's base. With all that connetic energy from falling, and given the size of large/very large boulders, × the rate and distance the boulder(s) fall, it would desinergrate any wooden structure, even if said structure we're set back from mountain.

That is where they making nuclear bomb. They needed the water to cool down the machine. Is too much and too risky to remove the nuclear to different location
Descriptions missed the cause - blowing off dangerous rocks who when left in place may ceuse much larger landslide with possible fjord tsunami. Causing real danger to town below and other towns around this fjord.
What is it you dont get? This rock had to com down sooner ore later. Better to blow it opp when the house are emty then coming down a night when peopel are home sleeping!
The factories were built in steep fjords because the steep topography gave ample possibilities to produce the hydro power electricity that was necessary for the factory be set up anywhere near there.. Loose rocks, lots of sustainable electricity and industry goes hand in hand. Always a downside..
