Thank you! My big adventure is walking 20 minutes to the grocery store, doctor's office, or to the bus stop! I'm 72! Just have been retired from being a lunch lady for 7 months! Being a senior citizen is the greatest adventure!
All the puppy content! 😍 I love that you’re sticking with the same topics we love in your videos (grocery hauls, pantry cooking, etc.) only now there’s a PUPPY. Much love to Speedy as well. I love it when he makes an appearance!
I live in MD an hour outside of DC. My husband and Mom and I are headed to cedar city UT to see some friends this summer for 15 days. Moab is planned for our first week! So excited!
We did a staycation but we did walking, biking practicing and killed it at the local botanical gardens. I had my 4 year old walking 5km a day! I was so proud of him. I can’t wait for him to learn how to bike so he can ride with us! My 9 year old also killed it. I was proud of him too!
We recently returned from a 4 day wedding weekend. We opted for VRBO small home (took our epileptic dog with us). Dinners were covered 2 nights. I prepped breakfast sandwiches for the 3 mornings, took food for lunch, took drinks and snacks. Bottom line, we only spent money for gasoline and we had a great time and the food was delicious! What a perfect vacation for your active family!
watching all your adventures at the end was so wonderful! I'm a 70 year old grandma in Minnesota who loves your channel. I raised my family in the redwood forest of CA and moved here 5 years ago to be near all 8 of my grands. I feed only 2 now but I was you in the 70's and 80's. Now my days are filled with grands, my chickens, my 1 acre garden and quilting. But somehow I'm addicted to your show. My absolute favorite shows are when you and your daughter do it together. Bless you all, BrendaLou in rural Jordan, Minnesota.
We did spring break in Scottsdale AZ and also did a large grocery haul once we arrived and stocked our villa’s fridge. I love having a full kitchen on Vacay. Honestly, it saved us 100s of dollars by not eating out!
I love doing that too...we have friends that brag about eating out at 5 star restaurants...but that just foes nothing for me...I've had years that I did that...now I would rather spend that money elsewhere
@@debiwillis9045 we usually do one fun sit down dinner (this trip we went to medieval times) but we prefer to eat our own food. It’s easier and cheaper.
We're going to Vegas (We're in Utah) for a couple of days and I plan to pack food for the trip and for some lunches. We usually enjoy a dinner our at Vegas and breakfast will just be protein shakes and fruit. I got this idea from you so thank you!
You probably already know this, but when we hike and bike in Colorado and it’s super hot and no shade, COOLING towels are literally a life saver!! I can’t tell you how much of a difference they make. My favorite one is my 9-year olds “Artic rad wear”. So when it’s 95° out and we’re biking, we have them draped around our necks. We take a snack break, take helmets off, lay that across our heads and we’re refreshed to keep going. And then if you’re near a cold river/stream, or lake you can re-wet it. They make it possible for me to take my 9 year old on 5 mile rides to our local downtown and have lunch and go to $3 kids summer movies, where we chill off in A/C, and then visit the splash pad too! By the time the movie is over it’s happy hour time for Mom, while he plays in the water.
We enjoy car trips and have started taking homemade muffins and yogurt for breakfast, cereal, milk, peanut butter, bananas and apples, and cooked taco meat, tortilla chips and cheese. Also microwave popcorn and homemade cookies. We take one small ice chest and one large tote (a laundry type tote). We just got back from an 8 day trip and we ate out a total of 3 times, because we wanted to. Soooo nice to have food we like available and not have to go out! We’re always tired in the evenings. Saves a ton also. Great video! Have learned so much from you Christine!
ok. So first, i was rooting Hailey on while she was trying to get up those rocks. Then, to hear the pride in Dave's voice when she got it. Not gunna lie... i may have gotten a little teary eyed... your family is awesome. :) Thanks for sharing them with us!!
You totally inspire me to be more active with my kids. We have 6 kiddos from 10 down to 1. We are active, but I am really looking forward to going on trail rides like that and no diaper bag. You guys rock!! It also seems like you have great relationships with your kids!! You all are awesome!!
One of the things I really like about you, is your kids help out in the kitchen & lots of other chores too. My thoughts on the kitchen is, it’s going in their bellies too, so they should help.My 2 oldest are men now, but when they were little I had them helping in the kitchen from the time they could kneel on a chair to reach the counter. They loved it, now they’re the main cook in their families. I also have a daughter who has Down Syndrome & she helps me a lot too & we have a lot of fun together in the kitchen.
I would be very interested in seeing them empty food cooler and you commenting back on what you packed as ate them all, didn’t bring enough or too much, wished I had pack. As in an empties unpack video.
Isn't that insane for apples?! The answer is to plant a tree and the future you will thank now you! Your kids are so lucky to have you two as their parents- what an experience that looks like!
I love your grocery haul and your attitude about family vacations. Being together and making memories. The fact that you are so active is a bonus. Beautiful scenery!!
I haven’t been subscribed for long, and Christine always talks about Hailey’s surgery, but I’ve never heard the reason she needed surgery. Was it an injury or something she was born with that needed fixing?
I know it's a bit scary to have your son drive you but that's I learned how to drive. My parents divorced and my Dad would drive from Pennsylvania to Florida for summer visits. We would drive back to PA and I would drive when in North Carolina and that's how I got used to driving on the interstate. You're setting your son up for success when doing that. I'm glad you had fun and thank you for doing what you do!
My husband gets so upset when I pack food from the house when we go on a trip. He just doesn't realize how much easier it makes my life and he never seems to complain when I'm handing snacks out to our 6 yr old twins and my 3 yr old daughter :)
Cyndi omg mine too!! He truly gets annoyed but is quite thankful reaching in my snack bag. Lol. We took a road trip on Easter and he was the first one to mention having to pack snacks; imagine my shock! 😂. Think we’ve turned a corner.
I am envious of your lifestyle! At 78 it's a little late for me to start mountain biking, (I'm paranoid about falling) but I am doing my best to become more active, and even the little I"ve been able to achieve so far is exciting!
How nice it must be to just be able to pack up and go on such a fun vacation. I live in S TX but there doesn’t seem to be anything fun to do. Lotsa flat land and cattle. Plus, we’ve got snakes - LOTSA snakes. Those kind that bite you and you die!!!👀 Plus, it takes alllllll day just to get out of TX. I have learned, though - from you! - to pack my own food. I’m doing that from now on. I LOVE when you show your vacation highlights. 🚴🚴♂️♥️🥰🥾
Grocery prices are definitely going up and will continue to do so. Great selection of snacks. Imagine what you would have paid if you had not already had those other things in your pantry. Thats why it's important to keep a stocked pantry. Good job! Looked like y'all had a fun weekend and Rogue fit in perfectly.
Smart. we went to the Bahamas for Spring Break and did not plan ahead. Let's just say the snack prices 😮 Yeah, I learned my lesson. As for your $85, that was one dinner for our family of four on our vacation. I think you got off cheap😊
I'm from Idaho and I had to laugh when I saw your feet in the part of the video where you were picking Rogue up at the groomers. You had flip flops on and you said you had snow 🤣🤣 you've mentioned you lived in Texas before so your flip flops in the snow is the perfect mix of a Texa meets Idaho thing 🤣🤣🤣
Y’all look like you had a terrific time in Moab-Such a pretty place and so cool! Rogue acted like a real trooper. How did the apples fair? Thank you so much for sharing your trip and bringing me along, Christine.
Looks like so much fun! I absolutely love your videos! Moab is beautiful. & Rogue is doing so well, she is gorgeous! Thanks for taking us along with you and your family!
I was craving oranges a few weeks ago so I ran up to the grocery store. Got 4 average sized oranges, got to the checkout, and 4 oranges cost $10!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it! Needless to say, I didn't satisfy my craving because those oranges stayed right there! Absolutely insane.
With global warming, food is going to cost more and more... It gets really hot, so in the Arctic ice melts, disturbing marine currents, which then disturbs air currents, and suddenly, after a heat wave, we have a cold wave. So then everything that bloomed ices, making it more costly to harvest food, because half of it dies. It's going to be worse and worse, with each year passing us not adressing this issue... Brace yourself !
That’s expensive. I got a bag of 5 Cara Cara oranges from Trader Joe’s for $3+ and those were the higher price oranges. Regular kind will be less. Try to check out other stores next time. Craving is hard to bear.
I just did a video like this on my channel! I love seeing what other people buy for trips. We went to the Grand Canyon and stayed in an Airbnb with a full kitchen, so we brought a lot of food with us. It helped save us so much money since we weren’t eating out for all of our meals. Thanks for sharing Christine.
Thanks so much for sharing your families adventure spring break 💜 I absolutely love how you all love to get out and enjoy hiking, mountain bike riding and generally enjoying each other's company and it also looked like Rogue had a fantastic time as well 🐕 Love from Australia 🇦🇺 ❤️
Thank you for showing us how being frugal can allow you to go to super cool places. Loved all the footage of the cool hiking and biking trails in Moab!
Oh yes. We have a family cabin at a popular lake in Minnesota. The town is easiest to get to by boat, and also only has one small store. Last year was my first family trip with my own child and I regret not packing more snacks, and at least lunch things to take with us. Better prepared for this year now!
My stepfather taught me to drive in a cemetery so that if I hit anything it was already dead. :) It was actually pretty awesome because I was able to go as slow as I needed without upsetting anyone, it was mostly empty and there were lots of turns to practice on.
I dont know how I missed this video but it was great!! Moab is just beautiful and all the trails look so fun!! Love how supportive you all are on the trails of each other!! I can feel the love.
I love this. Thanks for sharing your trip packing tips and the Utah pictures. We are hoping to visit Utah next year. We visited Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana last year. We loved it. So beautiful!!
I would be interested to see how you stock your first aid kit for adventure activity trips like this and who carries it? Obviously there are some mishaps.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We recently moved to SD and our family of 4 have made it a goal to hike every week(weather permitting) with our 4 dogs. It is amazing and bringing all of us closer together. New subscriber. 💗
Looked like a amazing spring break.. and y'all had a awesome time. Nothing better then being outdoors ☺️😉 when we lived in Phoenix Arizona 🦎🌵 every weekend I took my kids to to Papago park where u can hike up to the hole in the rock . They loved .. we live in Tucson now and no kids at home lol 🤣 have a great day 💞 everyone . Stay safe and always make it fun 😊🥰🤙 Love from Tucson Arizona 💗🦎🌵🌻🦉👩🌾🌵🦎💗
Amazing trip! Love the conquering the hill part especially! G Glad Tyler was ok! Yes, I have sticker shock on groceries as well! I pulled my orders up on curbside apps to get an idea of what I would spend and about had a heart attack! And that is without meat as I am doing my own clean out the freezer challenge this month myself! So glad for my small pantry and freezer stockpile tho! Have a blessed week!
I live in a tourist area. Within 20 miles I have Camelback, Great Wolf, Kalahari and 2 Casinos. It's crazy especially in the winter with snowboarding and skiing. I know that some grocery stores that are close to those attractions are a bit more expensive and you best believe they don't have a discount rack.
Last summer we stayed in Monticello west of Moab. We loved that area. Arches nana park is amazing!!!! We enjoyed it more than the Grand Canyon. Next time you are in the area, look up Newspaper rock. We had never heard of it, and discovered it is amazing. There is a little campground in the national forest in Monticello, secluded and peaceful. We stayed for seven days.
You are right I live in Stowe Vermont and I work in the basically only tiny grocery store. It’s a ski resort town in winter and all sorts of stuff in summer. My store is empty a lot and the regulars complain so much lol Have a good time!!
I’m so jealous! Currently I’m sitting on a couch with my leg on a pillow recovering from leg surgery, staring out into the cold Manitoba winter wishing I was able to be biking, hiking, swimming…anything. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through you!!
You have inspired me. I'll never be as active as your family but I've started walking my 100 yards multiple times a day. I even had a slope to climb (ok. Maybe 4 degrees, but it felt HUGE). What great videos you produce.
Thanks for taking me down memory lane. I took my grandsons on a trip from Illinois to California 2017, wish I had know more about Moab. Got in late spent most of next day at arches
