I don't think back in my mom's gardening days there were many, maybe even any "tones" for sale. She used blood meal on everything, I want to say, she put it in the hole, can't swear to that tho. The tablecloth is really lovely, and the book sounds wonderful.

Well, when I was a kid in Ukraine, horse manure was all my grandparents used. And gardens were thriving.

@@OlgaCarmody Yes same here, my brother has horses and mom used that too. I sometimes buy the cow manure available at most stores.

Hi Olga, I trimmed some of my roses shorter and tighter as well.I have two roses i was thinking about this winter one is a grandaflora a repeat bloomer and a old rose still don't know what it is as it was given from a friend's garden.well i really neglect them including water.and for some reason their my best roses.So I am going to experiment with one more hidden in my back rose gardens and be more neglectful.The only thing the front ones get is the earths natural fertilizer.My Edan is in the 3 rd yr and i had to build a trellis and she is so big .Bone meal was my grandmother's true blue thing she used in her gardens.Happy Spring and Good Friday.🕊️💚

Do you have to regularly use any type of drench or fungicide on your roses Olga? In the southeast (Carolinas and GA) we have to start our preventive fungal treatments next week, and I am using the Rose RX drench in addition to the Plant Tone feeding. The local rose company recommends spraying Bonide fungicide every 10 days but I know I can't commit to that schedule (hence the Rose RX drench). 😊🌹 Your tablecloth is just lovely, I'm sure it will compliment your patio roses perfectly and flatten out with normal usage. Thanks for another interactive video!
@OlgaCarmody
@OlgaCarmody 3 месяца назад
I stay away from systemic treatments in my garden and try to do organic gardening. It doesn’t mean that I won’t use them no matter what. If , hope not, I will have rose rosette disease, that Bonide fungicide will be killing mites on my roses right away to stop spreading the disease to other roses. So far so good.
@Yvonne_ennovY
@Yvonne_ennovY 3 месяца назад
Gotcha 👍🏾 I agree, rose rosette disease is very serious and must be treated by any ethical means necessary to save all the surrounding rose bushes!! I think the (local) spray schedule recommendation is to keep gardens organic. If my 3 children weren't so young, I think I'd have the time needed to commit to that schedule. Up until this spring my garden was 100% organic. Since we added the roses in fall '23, I had to make that slight adjustment. Hoping and praying for a great first summer with my 6 roses in humid zone 8a! 🙏🏾🤞🏾🌹 Thanks for such a quick response Olga, have a fantastic day!!☺️

Gorgeous tablecloth! Would you fertilize a baby bare root rose that was planted last fall?
@OlgaCarmody
@OlgaCarmody 3 месяца назад
I would, not much though. That baby rose had some time to get used to the new space, but I would be light on fertilizer this spring.... Generally it is not good to push plant into production at the beginning of its life. Let it figure it out itself.
