Hallo from South Africa. I think your idea to put down cardboard is excellent. I did the same in an are where I started a new bed and could not get rid of the grass and weeds. I then added a thick layer of compost and mulch, and sew a lot of annuals e.g sunflowers. It looked great and gave me a chance to get the bed established and prepared for perennials.

Hi Helana! South Africa, wow! I'd love to visit your beautiful country one day. Exactly! I totally agree, the no dig method really does work, and is much easier than hand pulling countless weeds.

Ah we have SO much bindweed too and it is the absolute worst 😭😭. It's so difficult to pull if the ground isn't perfectly soft and loamy. Thanks for the inspiration, I think I'll get out there today and tackle some of my garden weeds!

It really is such a stubborn horrible week. The soil needs the right amount of moisture and then that cobra tool I use really helps unweave those stringy roots from the soil. 🌻

Aww, yeay!😊 So happy Eve is feeling better! ❤ So sweet to see her helping you in the garden. Our girls Eliza and Ella love to help water our flowers too ❤ I think it teaches them to love and care for nature and it rewards you back in its beauty. Your back view is simply beautiful and I love your tulips and the new white wedding flowers! Glad she is feeling better and you all are getting some warmer, sunnier weather 😊 Planting season is finally here! ❤

Thank you so much, Brenna! She is finally seeming like herself these days. She is normally my constant garden companion. I totally agree, it is such a wonderful opportunity to learn from and appreciate nature when we get our kids outside in the garden. There is always something new to see! Love your girls' names by the way!

Beautiful additions! Love the terracotta pots! I watched a video you did unboxing some of them and I can't stop thinking about them! I'm definitely going to have to order! ❤️ Unrelated to this video but I saw that you have a ton of foxgloves in your borders. I've just started growing them and mine keep flopping over. Do you have any tips on how to get the flowers to stay upright? I have them staked for now but it isn't the prettiest to have bamboo sticking out all over the place 😭

Wow!! Beautiful garden!!! Would you recommend any flower gardening books that you use? We recently built a house and I want to start planting but don’t know where to start. I live in zone 7B. If you could do a video on how to start flower/ garden beds and how to plan it that would be very helpful. Thank you!

Hi Linda, Thank you so much! I love Martha Stewart’s book Gardening Month by Month. I read it several times while we were building our house. Monty Don also has fantastic books on gardening, as well as Sarah Raven. I enjoy collecting gardening books with beautiful gardens like King Charle’s book Highgrove to gather inspiration. I am creating several new beds this year and will share start to finish how I create a new border. Happy Gardening! 🌻

Ohhhh I love those minnow narcissus. I've never tried perennializing them because I have such limited space, I don't want to sacrifice that area in its off-seasons! I'm curious to see how it perennializes for you!

Ooh I loved the plant haul. So many good ones! The hellebores are still a wishlist plant for me tho because I don’t have shade in my garden yet. Minnow narcissus are the cutest thing ever. Did you know some daffodils have a scent? Recently discovered this. Sir Winston Churchill scent is to die for!
@HoneyHill
@HoneyHill Год назад
Thank you, Adaline! I do not have very much shade either, but hoping they will do okay! Yes I did know that, I picked some the Art Design narcissus in my garden the other day and they almost smell like a light baby lotion. I have yet to smell Sir Winston Churchill though!

How do you like your Blundstone boots vs your Hunters? 🙂
@HoneyHill
@HoneyHill Год назад
Hi Ayesha! I love them! The Hunters are great too, but I wore them until they got holes in them and my socks would get wet and dirty while gardening. The Blundstones are super comfortable and I wear them pretty much everywhere, so I love their versatility.
