This gear review is loaded with incredible rods, reels, and tackle! With the Bassmaster Classic behind us, it's time to explore all the awesome new gear that has come to market! I just used the new Hog Farmer Sunfish color on the back of a GP Jackhammer in crystal clear water and hammered the spotted bass. I usually dont catch many spots but they loved that color. Thank you guys for all you do!!!

Wow that was one of the best gear reviews ever, and unfortunately, now I need to go get one (or 3) of everything! But I do have a new Metanium 70 DC A reel already and the hardest part of using it is deciding what rod to use with it. For now it's on an Expride (and sometimes a Kistler ZBone) and it's been working great and just fun to try out the new ranges of different types of baits.

Maybe I missed it, but what exactly makes the new GLX's an improvement? No one seems to have a legit answer? Is it lighter? More sensitive? Just a cosmetic/aestethic change? Other than the ci4 reel seat, it seems like the blank/rod is the same performance as the previous gen. Everyone just seems to be mentioning that it's definitely an improvement without expanding and there are new models. It's always about the new models...

My very first high end rod was a GLX casting 7’ MH and I absolutely hated the trigger on it. It also broke at the tip very easily, but that comes with the territory, a lot of high end rods I’ve owned since have broken or came broken from tacklewarehouse in the tube.

I picked up a GLX 843C MBR but its a little more mod fast than fast and a lighter sided Med. Hvy. How does the GLX 844C MBR fill copared to the 843 ?. I was thinking the 843 was going to be a nice shorter chatterbait rod,lol not. Excellent topwater for sure and a nice 3.8 keitech chunker. Very nice rod though. Do you think the 844 has enought power to be a chatter rod? Did put a Metanium DC 70 on the 843 with 15 tasu throwing 3/8 keitech casting jig around docks , wow what a nice reel and i'm a Dawia Steez guy. now I have 2,lol. The 843 is not the rod for jigs though.

Thank you! DC's can be really good because of their ability to make micro adjustments. TBH I'm not the best at skipping a jig regardless, Tim's skip game is wayyy better than mine.

My opinion on tat 200. It is THE BEST bombproof reel for small glides and small softbaits up to 3oz on both. They are dirt cheap and extremely solid. My favorite 200 reel by a mile... And I own more than a few in that size across Shimano and Daiwa. Tat 200 is a killer. Deep cranking solid technique on this reel too

@@peekay1563 I like a lighter reel with less spool for frogs bc walking the frog is much easier w a small reel. But it absolutely would work if you wanted a reel to do more than swimbait and cranking. I don't bomb cast my frogs bc I'm a little blind and I fish kayak so I can get pretty close up to my target. That's why I like a smaller reel lake a tat 103 or Curado 70 for frog. 40# test braid is plenty of you ask me. I've never ever broken braid no matter what pound test. But in a pinch yes ok for frogs I suppose. Best for bombing casts a long way with heavier bait in my opinion. A frog may be that for you

@@peekay1563 I have no experience w that reel specifically but a 150 is fine for swimbait under 2oz (there are a lot of options under 2oz) and great for frogs yes. That size reel can do alot of things for sure. I use Shimano slx for that size, they are great at $100. Daiwa are equal quality reels. The only 2 brands I'll ever buy. The others are just not the same

This new Ultralight is the way I'd go for those tiny trebles. I've only thrown the Karashi with it a few times... not enough fish catches yet to be sure... but I really like it.

Have you guys used any of the new Daiwa Zillion rods? If so, I’m wondering how they compare to the Expride rods? I know the Zillion rods are priced a bit higher (almost $100) but I feel like that’s Daiwa’s competition for the Expride. The Zillion rods look sweet and they have every kind of action you would ever need. I’m definitely wanting to try at least one.

I've always used MGL spools and been extremely happy with them, except into strong wind. The 70 size Metanium DC seems like the perfect combination. I'd take MGL over the larger DC's.

Im waiting for the crappie fisherman to get bfs, theres already 1 rod that i know of thats bfs specific for panfish. Once they capitalize on it, the flood gates will open up
