Spring has been stressful ...sheep chores, Jess's new venture and MORE chatty tractor confessionals

Although the weather has been AMAZING this long holiday weekend, I'm worried Mark is feeling the stress of not having his ground the way he hoped prior to planting.
But, we have moved into soybeans and hope these vigorous little seeds do their thing.
In the barn, I've been still checking in on our little lamb that looks to be potentially struggling with White Muscle Disease (selenium deficiency) but she seems to be improving!
We also were on chore duty, which is always a nice reprieve from the fieldwork.

I posted this on another video but please let Jess know that I am LOVING her hair. My hair was curly when it grew back in from chemo but not like that. I was a fuzzy mess. Hers is beautiful!

I had Alopecia Universalis, luckily my hair grew back fully on my head! It still falls out regularly but it was curly before & grew back into RINGLETS but it also grew back WHITE. I have had white hair for half my life. I used to dye it but that caused more weakness, it is so precarious that I cannot blow dry or straighten it. Jess’ hair is beautiful.

I’ve been emptying out my compost bin, and getting out the mattock and seriously heavy shovel to dig out my rock hard and heavy Georgia clay, to put in a couple new hydrangeas in our front garden bed. A tractor would have been excellent for the hole digging, but I sort of have to thread the needle around all the existing plants.

What I find crazy, is the situational awareness, introspection, and frankly respect for others personal space and privacy someone must be lacking, to think it’s not only “OKAY” but acceptable, to randomly show up to someone’s house… astounding. I would NEVER.

Bless you love. I was hospitalized last October from a massive hemorrhage and while in hospital, I binge watched Sandi’s channel. It was funny because I kept a constant stream of nurses in my room watching with me and Sandi gained new subs which made me gush with happiness. Two weeks ago today, I had a mass cut out of my forearm that left me with 38 stitches. They removed stitches last Wednesday, guess what? My wound busted open too. 😩 now it has to heal from the inside out and it’s not the prettiest. I’m got skinny little wrists and forearms and my surgeon was afraid it might do this. But my mass turned out to be rheumatoid nodules from having rheumatoid arthritis. I pray you’ll be okay and aren’t in too much pain. Take care of yourself ❤️
@meganmartin2037
@meganmartin2037 3 месяца назад
@@susanschroeder8021 oh my goodness. Are you diabetic? That’s my issue I heal slowly and when they took my melanoma in situ off my back they did that and it took many months to heal all the way closed. Like 4 months! They didn’t put stitches on the outside on my stomach just internal ones and because I heal slow it just over half of it is herniated! Did you have a lot of issues from yours. I have to have surgery again and I’m terrified! I’m praying for u you. I recognize you on her page whenever you comment! I also watched her page and showed my one night nurse Sandy’s page because she looked just like Jess! It freaked me out how much alike they look! I’m praying the mass they took out isn’t anything serious, my family has to watch out for cancers because of a genetic mutation we have. Lost my brother 5 and a half years ago. He was the same age when I had my emergency surgery. 31 when cancer took him. I don’t say the cancer one because it no longer could use my big brother michael as it’s host. He gained his wings. The cancer is who lost the battle. I help raise his two boys. It’s hard but it helped me keep fighting for my life when I was so close to going too. I still break down from time to time because i swear he came and told me I couldn’t give up fighting. After surgery they told me if I wouldn’t have had surgery in the next 30 min I wouldn’t have made it. So thankful I did so I can raise my three girls and help raise my brothers two boys I’m thinking and praying for you. There’s no sign of infection is there? I found out the hard way they can’t go back in and restitch it, and it sure isn’t any fun, be careful when it starts to itch. Don’t itch it at all trust me. I didn’t think of it one day and itched and it busted open even further! Thinking about you love!!

@susanschroeder8021
@susanschroeder8021 3 месяца назад
@@meganmartin2037 I’m not diabetic but I have MS and RA and being on 2 strong immune suppressors makes me heal slowly. But really, my arm seems to be healing fine. The mass was rather large and it went to the bone. So I didn’t have much skin to close it. Where the majority of the mass was, the stitches were super tight and shortly after they removed my stitches, the middle part (about 4”) popped open. It’s still closed on each end about 2” on both sides. Last October, a doctor gave me an antibiotic that reacted with my blood thinner and that’s what caused me to hemorrhage. I also had cellulitis in my left foot and ended up septic. I was a very sick gal but the pain meds, blood transfusions, antibiotics and everything else in between as well as Sandi’s videos got me thru the hospitalization. But I was sick from the end of August thru about New Years. Glad to be over that whole ordeal that happened in October. I never want to ever go thru that again!! I lost 3 liters of blood and was already going in shock when I arrived in er. I was grateful to have a way to watch Sandi’s channel when I started feeling better.

I don't get out nearly enough and vitamin D is so important for overall health. it's a cute garden. I would put some wooden stakes at the corners and put some wire mesh to keep the rabbits and other creatures out. Here in Ohio we have deer eating everything, even our flower bulbs. When I had my garden, after the plants were established I covered the ground in between with about 2 inches of straw so I wouldn't have to weed very often. We are hot here this week. 88 yesterday.

Yep we have been getting that nasty rain storms where I am, only all the farms are trying to bring in the crops and rain really stuffs that up big time. Everyone who lost their hair to chemo it’s always grown back curly, they think it’s due to the hair folic gets changed by the chemo but they are not sure as nobody has actually done a study of it since the start of chemo usage. It’s something that another RU-vidr noticed and he got excited at having tight curly hair as he had very straight hair before his chemo.

"Piper, OUT!" A harmless way of backing up commands to dogs is giving a quick squirt with a SuperSoaker - negative reinforcement.Jess also might want to put up wire mesh around her planter boxes to keep deer & hares out of her garden. That would also keep Piper out 💕💕

Canada has Cottontail Rabbits, not Hares. But yes to the wire mesh around the planter. The deer and rabbits will eat the plants.

@@CricketsBay In Manitoba & Alberta we have hares aka jack rabbits or snowshoe hares. The only bunny rabbits we have are domesticated ones that have gone feral. Calgary's population died off dramatically due to a viral plague.

Love Jesses hair! Too bad about the soil conditions. Non farmers don't realize how dependant farmers are on weather. Plants can't adapt quickly when the weather or soil conditions aren't right. And we are dependent on plants for food and food for livestock. Hope things get better!

I completely understand the frustration. I’m just a gardener and I soaked and planted my green beans and out of a 20ft row, 1 grew. I replanted yesterday. It’s so hard to get the timing just right. I can’t imagine the stress of those huge fields. Love you guys ❤

Jess has a nice elevated garden. Rabbits won't get to the plants. But if deer are around, they eat everything. Years ago, I made gardens with the landlord I had. We planted everything. The one year, I had just planted my tomato plants and the next day when I checked, they were eaten. Someone explained that rabbits would eat those plants close to the ground. We had a plastic fence that was probably easy to get under by a bunny. I did some protective things to help the plants grow back. Other times, deer jumped our fence and had a feast. It was 5 feet tall. I pulled in my parking lot and saw the deer jump out. I had to move and not able to have a variety garden where I live. I loved when I had a variety garden.

I'm so glad that the gamble to go ahead and plant the corn paid off. As you were talking about in the tractor, these decisions are rolling the dice every year. If you made the wrong one, it throws off the timing of everything you do to those crops as you explained. Sandi, you and Mark have my gratitude for being farmers. 🤗 It's such a a shame that more people don't even think about food- even when they're in the grocery store! 😡😱 I wanted to be sure to let you how I feel about all farmers out there. ❤️ A belated Victoria's Day for you all! I am so glad that you, Mark and Jess had a chance to visit with family and kick your shoes off for a while. Those days are few and far between it seems, the older I get. To have a true weekend off, priceless. Tell Jess that she should really worry about her new garden. Since Piper launched herself after running through it, there might be Piper seeds taking root soon!! 🫣😲🤣🤣🤣 So, does Jess need another Piper around right now? Tee hee! 🥴 The little lamb is almost as good as new! She can really move quickly with the rest without any real difficulty. I guess we should call you "Dr. Sandi," because you're kind of a mini vet with Rex's protocol notebook. That book has really saved a lot of lives in your barn, when you think about it. Rex doesn't mind sharing knowledge, nor does he dodge questions when asked. Unfortunately, some vets want to charge money for a house visit. But you are blessed because Rex cares. Well, I'm signing off for now..... Thank you, as always, for sharing your farming life with us. You are an injection of happiness into my life! 😁 Blessings from Alabama ❤️
