While you have the ditch, you could run pipe for geothermal heating and cooling. With that distance, you could loop a pipe with a fan in the house and have cool air without the traditional geothermal system. 😆 never mind, I took the pause off. You covered the ditch.

Been waiting for this! I was wondering if you would put a riser in at each pipe splice so you could track down clogs and introduce air pressure if needed to bust up clogs? But I guess a filter would probably help avoid clogs. I saw that idea in a video about gravity flow spring water to cattle waterers on a ranch out west, they had to bust up some clogs with air pressure from a standard construction air compressor.

I just watched a video from a fella fixing and running a propane powered refrigerator. It looked pretty cool. I said to myself immediately well that coulda saved mcgie a few thousand dollars 😂 that's a big project you got going. I've been fixing to run about 1000 foot of line to tie in a new-old spring to the cistern + dug in by hand 300 foot of new line to get water to the house this summer and that pipe ain't that cheap especially the big stuff. 100 foot ain't bad on its own but it adds up fast. Since you're already going to the trouble of running the line and pumping the water have you thought about putting it to another use once it's up there? Fill a cistern, cow water, irrigation, fish pond maybe? With that excavator and all that clay you could probably build a little pond and stock it pretty easy. Free catfish for life don't sound too bad
@McGieHomesteadAdventures
@McGieHomesteadAdventures 26 дней назад
I’ve got two propane refrigerators…… this is particularly useful since it gives us drinking water as well! That’s the number one reason why I’d spend the money on it!
@EthanPDobbins
@EthanPDobbins 25 дней назад
@@McGieHomesteadAdventures that's awesome. I thought you might have such a use for it. That's a real heavy flowing and clean looking spring. Looks like great water. And I should have known that you'd have the propane fridge angle covered already. Come to think of it I think you mentioned it before somewhere in a video or comment. The mind of a McGie seems to be genius. The cellar/springhouse combo and the smoke house are works of art. And them boys on their lawn mower bike Frankensteins are better than I'd ever build 🤣 All our water comes from springs too but there's not much of a way to flow it through the old 1920s sandstone cellar due to elevation. But If i could get ahold of a propane refrigerator and convert it to take our free wellhead gas I'd feel like a real fancy pants. I'll have to keep an eye out for one.
