Yeah, I read a lot of Jane Goodall when I was a kid and found it all fascinating - I think her major scientific contribution was to document how savage and warlike wild chimpanzees really are. I used to know a colleague of hers, a lady who worked with her in the 1960s, who had almost nothing good to say about her .. HAHA. I read Gone with the Wind about 40 years ago - so long ago I remember almost nothing about it. I was inspired to read it after the characters in the movie The Outsiders were reading it to pass the time while they were hiding from the Law. I remember enjoying it though. I thought the movie, at least the first half of the movie, is fantastic. Oh yeah, what is a Victorian novel without some good drama over a will HAHA. Yeah, I can’t say I have ever read Jane Austin, and I am not really inspired to try, but Thomas Hardy is great. I love the guy despite your love/hate relationship. Yeah, ruining good people’s lives is part of his charm HAHAHA. OOOHH I would love to hear your more in-depth thoughts on Tess … I am tempted to do a Thomas Hardy series after I finish my George Eliot series. I love Winter too, but glad to see Spring come. It just happens faster and faster every year. Thank you for the video.
I had forgotten they were reading that in The Outsiders! Yes, Thomas Hardy was very harsh with his characters, but he was definitely a realist. He must have been a ton of fun at parties!
