I am about 1/2 way through the video, and I want to say, "Thank You!" I really appreciate the way you went through that recovery from being stuck, mistakes and all. True humility on your part, and an excellent lesson to others in the small things that go wrong.

I don't spend most of my time in gunfights but I carry one everyday. Nothing wrong w a good upsized all terrain. Bringing them down to 15 psi works miracles most times. Totally worth it imo no matter what kind of driving you do.

Don't knock yourself about the video, I found it to be very informative. One of my greatest fears is to be out all alone and get stuck like that . Now I have a good idea on what to do if I should ever find myself in a similar situation. Ty

Well done getting out of the mud, brother! We use an '01 F250 and have been in that situation. Those trucks are not light and when they start to sink, they sink DEEP. Great pointers and THANK YOU for showing, and telling us what you could have done better. I am sure that these pointers will help others that camp in those conditions. I HATE MUD!!

FWIW: One of the BEST improvements to an off-road truck is a locking rear differential. In 2WD you can go most places non-locked trucks go in 4WD. When you get stuck in 2WD you can engage 4WD to get you out. Thanks for the video.

I ran street radials on a GMC Jimmy for years. I always put lugged chains on these tires If I thought I would get into mud or snow. They perform better than mud and snows alone.Takes a little time to put on and take off but much less time than getting stuck and having to recover. Experience is the best teacher and what you remember. Don't go into areas where the frost has just gone out of the ground. There is no structure.

Tires will get you in, winch will get you out.. You're by yourself most of the time. Be safe. Also, you can attach a line to the r-boards to help dig them out. Some, will attach the line to the r-boards and to the bumper and pull them out that way. Cheers..

As someone else mentioned, a set of BF Goodrich K02 would have been some help but sometimes only a winch will get you out. The K0s are expensive but well worth it. I put them on my 3/4 ton Dodge diesel and got 75,000 miles out of them when I rotated them regularly.

That was fun to watch! I hate to say it, but tire chains work in mud as well as snow. That's why the loggers chain up their skidder's and such. Dang things are amazing! Take a look at Matt's off road recovery channel. They use them sometimes, but you put them on from the top of the tire, not the way Matt does it by laying them out on the ground. It's a muddy mess not matter what you do though!

It's definitely good to know that I'm not alone getting stuck in mud. My 98 E150 is currently stuck in mud and it's hard to drive out, I'm just happy that it didn't get stuck in random fields. It's currently parked at the side of my house and I always park my E150 there during the winter so if I have to call a plow, they will have place to put the snow (since we have 2 driveways, one is the main one to the main garage and the second one is for backups and the storage garage) I'm hoping I will get it out by Friday or I will have to call AAA. Sucks

You made the best of a bad situation by allowing us to see what you did well and not so well. Nice video - good to see someone else getting bogged. Here in Australia we will drop our tyre pressures - initially to about 20 PSI when driving in the mud and when we get bogged we will go down to about 12 - 15 PSI as the extra long foot print helps with traction - look forward to your next one.
