Taylor Stitch sizing jacket sizing correlates to your shoulders as if you’re buying a suit or a blazer. I’m roughly the same size as you 5’10” 160 & the medium is perfect. The sleeves hit me right at the wrist bone. But I have broad shoulders & wear a 40R in a blazer. I’m guessing you’d wear a 38. Their small is for people who take a 38. Medium is for people who are 40s, etc. They tell you right under the letters. If you’re a 38, you should always buy small on their site. Hope this helps you & no I don’t work there, just a happy customer with a bunch of TS jackets.
I think Taylor Stitch must've listened to your feedback. I just got one, and they're now have a wool/nylon blanket lining. I was happy to discover that the sleeves as well as the overall length were fine.
I just got one of these jackets, I love the look, great jacket, wish it were a little thicker fabric but it’s nice. Buttons really pop. Mine fits me perfectly.
Re the thickness it’s interesting it’s called a jacket instead of an overshirt. It’s funny they show it with a wine bottle though I have a linen/cotton cardigan from kapital with the same type of thing & I use it constantly when say I’m in the kitchen & grabbing food to take to my desk for instance I use it to carry utensils or my water bottle while I’m moving between rooms so I don’t have to take multiple trips. Or when go somewhere I use it to store say a folded map or tickets or such when I go to a museum as opposed to my pants pockets 😅
Size down to an xs. I have the same jacket in xs, and I'm the same height as you. I'm usually a S in other brands, but I have to size down to xs with Taylor Stitch. The jacket fits perfectly.
Thanks for doing the review- I recently bought the Sashiko version of this jacket in small- and it was too big. I returned it and since they were out of the XS, I ended up ordering the indigo waffle in XS. I am pretty close to the same size as you- and so am hoping for a slim fit with the XS. I have heard that the arm holes are cut big (they were on the sashiko), which is ironic considering the name of the company is "Taylor Stitch" and it has a larger un-tailored cut. My jacket has not arrived yet, so I am geeking out trying to see how it will look and fit on "real people." Thanks again for the vid- very thorough! Another complaint that I would throw out there about the company is that they make their stuff in China (at least most of the things I have encountered), and this seems paradoxical to their brand. Other brands that honor a selvage, organic, tailored, small batch, etc product all keep their production more local- rather than outsourcing to maximize margins. For instance- Freenote Cloth, Bravestarr, Naked and Famous, 3Sixteen, Railcar, to name just a few. I suppose their pricing is a bit less than those companies- but not much.
I'm also about the same size as the guy in the video and was interested in purchasing a small Sashiko version. They are currently out of stock but I'd like to grab one when it comes back in. My suit jackets are a 38R so I thought the small would fit well. Was interesting to read about it being too big for you. You'll have to let us know if the XS fits you better. What size suit jacket do you wear?
It’s bizarre because my jacket was a medium to fit but my dark blue denim & black denim are fitted like a large exact same situation as yourself. Did you get it tailored? Did it work out?
I have tried two jackets from Taylor Stitch. They make such beautiful items, but the fit is so bad. I and 5'-11" and have a 42 chest, but I tend to have to buy size large in most items to have full motion in my shoulders, which I think may be slightly broader. The Taylor Stitch jackets pull so much that I can't raise my arms above shoulder level comfortably, and find it very uncomfortable to drive my car with the jacket on.
Yo small world. Big fan of Taylor Stitch and went to look up some videos...hence why i'm here. I recognized your face in the thumbnail and thought hmm Wheaton?? Yep. Not sure if you remember, but I was a few years below you. btw big fan of the b-roll!
Just my opinion, but I think the medium looks solid for you (layering of course). Obviously your own preference supersedes mine. Great jacket. Btw, dig the cuffed sleeves.
Such a great looking jacket. Do the product's actual measurements match those specified on the website? This information should help a lot of people to order right.
I'm amazed by how into outerwear you are but how you aren't really into boots and high quality shoes. Interesting leathers and you can wear them year round.
@@TheIronSnail I think that could be the case. Having been looking at this jacket alot trying to work out what size to get and from the reviews more recently I think it may now run true to size.
