This was a very large zinc, lead district in southern Nevada. Went out with my friend to explore one of the mines in the region. Many more trips will be planed.

The back-breaking work these men put into these mines is amazing. Thanks for the trip.

Insane the amount of work not only tunneling but hauling that heavy equipment up the mountain...true men. Thx

I am always amazed at the level of work put into this kind of thing. So many years worth of digging, moving, pushing, hauling. It makes you wonder if they ever found enough to make their work worth the effort. I'd imagine, at some point, they make the decision to just stop because it wasn't giving them the reward they so greatly sought.

Desert Trails is now one of my favorite youtube stations. I'm getting ready to retire from the Army after 34 years of serving. I am going to have a lot of free time. Living in Tucson offers quite a bit of time exploring old mining sites. Thanks for these great videos

Imagination the determination it took for prospectors to develop such mines way out in the desert

I can't imagine how in the world did they get heavy machinery up mountains like that!! Would of loved watching that!

is there any movie or documentary that shows how they got everything up there, because it's mind boggling to think how hard or how long it took before they actually started mining ?

At six years old in 1952 I would camp with my dad and mom's cousin at there surface digs for uranium near Moab..they struck the claim for the Lisbon Valley uranium mine and my dad gave his share away. In 1967 Rio Algum took the claim and mined for 17 years 24-7...refinery built at the mine site..nothing left but three lakes..shafts are very deep and vertical shaft to deposit...30 ft. Diameter...cemented off. Mine never played out..prices dropped to where it wasn't profitable to mine any longer.

I sure inveigh you having the opportunity to actually get out and explore. When I lived in the High Desert that's exactly what I enjoyed every weekend as weather permitted. Now this is my down time to sit and watch from KY.

Thanks for this interesting video. I most enjoy the scenery outside the mines. It would be nice if you could locate and post photos of the mines when in operation, if any exist. I don't see how you keep from getting turned around and lost with all those branching tunnels. There were enough good boards and wood left in this mine to build a cabin!

Hi, the whole mine was like swiss cheese, literally a hole or stope wherever you looked. I loved seeing that old wheel that Chris dug up and that old day box just inside the portal. A pretty cool location to go and explore and all the outside pieces of old machinery was very cool to see also. Thank you for sharing, much love. xx ❤

you guys are cool..... this is what EXPLORING is suppose to be.... back in the late 50's -60';s through- these mines were operational, I visited many sites then..... dont know of this particular one, but through nevada, colorado, utah, -they were quite extensive and just muscle, mules and some power here and there.. many were QUITE prosperous. the sheer GUTS AND BALLS, it took to do this was the sign of REAL MEN and REAL DETERMINATION. -- keep it going and be careful. different levels may have unstable shifts. watch for roof jacks etc, usually weak..

Your excitement and anxiety are nudging out the quality in your film making, slowwww down. Like you did at 15:00. It's nice to appreciate all the details. As you're going along through the tunnels you see something, frame it for a second and then move on with out saying anything. The rest of us are wondering, 'what was that'? Otherwise, neat video! And yeah, that place looks extensive, several videos worth. Thank you for sharing! (The half buried fly wheel was awesome!)

There was a fire. Rumor has it that the owner burned it to avoid property taxes, since they were not going to mine any longer. Have no idea if that is correct, but it was stated on another explore video of this mine.
