Gold Mine and A Cabin Built Into Boulders 

What an incredible find, the miner’s cabin is a find of a lifetime! It’s so wonderful that it hasn’t been vandalized or burned up. Even the glass window panes were intact! Incredible!

great explore there sonny Jim.....the tank by the Jaw crusher was filled with water for milling ...now that is one a cool miners cabin in the rock face ....and everything still there with a glass window too ...impressive sonny Jim....so with that we smashed that like button ....we SMASHED it hard

This place reminds me of the old mines my friends and I used to find out in the Mojave. We spent a lot of time out there when we were in our late teens and early 20's. We're in our mid-60's now, those of us who are still alive. It gladdens my old heart to see a place like this still exists, and that people seem to be taking care of it, rather than looting it. It's like a living museum. Please don't tell anyone where it's at. That way maybe, just maybe my grandchildren and your childrem will experience the same sense of wonder we felt when we first came across places such as this. Good work, kid! First class site, first class video. The time and effort you put into finding this place paid off.

Looking at that jaw crusher I can tell you a few things. The two hubs with the broken spokes was probably another fly wheel. The more mass to the flywheels the harder the rock you can crush. The bearings on either side of the jaw are probably sleeve bearings and the pockets above them were most likely for constant drip lubrication. The mine I used to work at had it's big brother. A 48 inch throat set for 4 inch minus and a 400 hp wound rotor motor. The main flywheel was 9 foot diameter and weighed about 8 tons.

Cool video. It’s nice to see an old miners cabin that hasn’t been looted and destroyed. I thought some were still out there somewhere but it is really nice to actually see it. Don’t tell anyone where it is because someone would ruin it. You guys are doing what I did in the 80s and 90s Exploring every thing possible. Keep doing what you love. There will come a day when you get too old for this stuff and you will have all of the memories and photos I still get out and explore but I can’t go as far as I used to. Good memories and good friends are never forgotten 👍😎🐾

As a local who has visited this site with frequency (proposed to my wife about half a mile up the trail from that site), I really appreciate you have not shared with this is. It's now on google maps so visitation has increased considerably, but it is still standing pretty much the same has been for decades. Thank you for your discretion with this video.

It always amazes me how they got all that heavy equipment up on the side of a mountain in the middle of nowhere. Awesome stuff.

Great explore Jerith! Even if the mines peter out, there is always something to find and investigate. Loved the old cabin! Reminded me of what we use to find in Southern Nevada back in the 80's. Their simplicity is amazing and their craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing with all of us.

Thanks for taking a moment to show us the mechanicals / machinery that was used. As a working class guy , I just love old tools and machines and enjoy looking at then to imagine how they may have worked and sounded for the people that depended on them in years back. Too many explorers just completely skip mechanical rooms and machinery when they do explorations and its such a shame to miss out on showing us that part of the work history. That cabin is quite a find! The windows are still in tact, sort of the first thing that goes. That cabin could be considered historically significant, especially the large collection of finds.

I want to live in something like this, fixed up, but I think underground and cave living would be really cool.

Well, that certainly taught me a lot regarding alternative architecture during the hippie era. I loved the beautiful natural wooden roof supports inside the dwelling, actually, loved the whole explore ! Got a bit nervous when you went in the old tunnels, l am not that brave enough to in as deep as you did! The hippies thought they were the original simple living and earthy type builders! Boy were we wrong! I am a 71year old woman from Australia, who lived the alternate lifestyle. Your still shots were amazing to see too. Please take care.🦘😧😁🥴🤔🤗

That rock crusher looks so good I bet it's easily restorable. That air compressor looks like it is in great condition. I kinda want to move into that old cabin in the rocks.

The narration was excellent and made the video interesting as the narrator talked about what we were seeing, the significance and importance of the equipment, what it was used for and an estimate of its age. All good stuff. Thanks!

That was my grandfather's mining cabin. It kept him warm during the cold nights and cool during the hot days according to the stories he told us as kids. Let me know if you want more info. Thanks for sharing. 😉👍

Man that existence living in the miners quarters was something I seriously can’t believe. Glad i got to see awesome

All of your films document some great mines and I always think of the lives of the people whose work it was to dig tunnels into the rock and extract whichever minerals, metals and ores out, but this really brought it to the fore. I have been imagining who lived in that home. I suppose a lot depends on what was being mined and how big an operation it was. It's a touch of home comfort in an inhospitable environment. When your friend walked in saying Hello! I jumped out of my skin! I had visions of someone from The Hills Have Eyes and was very pleased that it was a nice looking young fellow that you knew. Heart attack averted, I enjoyed seeing all of the cabin's features. I like that you don't take souvenirs, and let these places stay as they were left, it's respectful. I also liked that very long tunnel, but wonder if there were any others of a similar size around there.

Really awesome to see the window of the cabin unbroken. Looks like the miners didn't have any luck in that area. I can't believe how much effort it takes just to try and find something valuable in the rock

Amazing place. It was so unbelievable from the thumbnail, I was stealing myself for "yet another internet hoax" and then, it was exactly as described, making this an internet treasure! I hope this place remains as preserved, thank you for sharing your find with the world.

Mentholatum is still my favorite go to product for dry, and congested nostrils. I hope it doesn't go the way of another old time favorite, Boraxo Powdered Hand Soap since 1894, which went out of production in 2022.

That's not a gold mine, that's a Man Cave for that special man-time most men need. The thing that impressed me the most was the magnitude of labor involved to make the place look like a working mine, and not the common lodging room for his mistress most men vye for when trying to hide their activities from their better half. The barrel boards are called barrel staves, and the milk glass jar was Mentholatum Rub. Another version of that jar was/is Vick's Vapo Rub, which you can still find on store shelves today. When I was a youngster, mentholatum was a topical ointment cure-all for a stuffy nose, congestion, coughs, achy joints, and minor sore muscles. Mom would rub it on your chest and in your nose, and it would help relieve the congestion in your lungs, throat, and nose. It made your eyes burn and smelled of really strong mints. Good job on the video, fellas...

This is so cool. I live in a state where we don't have these types of mines, but when I was younger, I remember going on vacation to Colorado and seeing mine remnants. I had a strong urge to explore them then but couldn't. Thanks, I look forward to watching more of your content. I actually jumped when Trevor said, "what do you think youre doin!" lol. I can't believe the artifacts and window in that cabin are intact, is it really remote or something? On the outside you can tell the window is leaded glass, so it's legit old.
