I'm so sad for your lovely dog karma. You're doing your best for her and you've given her a lovely life. I hope its quick and painless when the end comes. Good guy and good dog
Thanks, it's always sad to lose a companion. She has been a great dog and we have had some amazing adventures together but sadly nothing last forever. We are just taking it day by day and trying to enjoy the time left. Hopefully she has a few more visits to the river before the end.
Thanks, I might not catch another fish, who knows what the spirit of the salmon has in store for the rest of the year. I certainly will be trying my best to make it a good year regardless and hopefully Karla has a few more fishing trips left in her before the inevitable.
Enjoyed your video thanks for taking us along, for me it embraced what salmon fishing is all about, its all about the experience as a well know tackle company like to say, well done !
You’re chat on saving the salmon’s spot on mate, the only people who will save the salmon are the fishermen and the ghilies,we need to band together before it’s to late 👌
Very true. Salmon fishing has been a way of life, especially in Scotland for generations and it's a downright national scandal that the SNP is not bending over backwards to save what is a vital part of the country's national heritage. The election of George Galloway as in independent MP in Rochdale goes to show what is possible. We need someone on the inside lobbying the government on behalf of the industry.
Many decades ago I tried to be this enthusiastic but life got in the way. I fished some of these rivers with similar results, what I could afford to fish. Try the Ericht tributary of the Tay for old times sake please. I left a 30 pound great grandfather there for new generations.
Brilliant to see the result of your Tweed visit. Almost tempted to go out again myself. (But too cold for me still!) Great to hear your reel screaming. Well done. Cracking video.
Epic bro. And good that you are bringing up the decline in salmon. Salmon farming really needs to be made an issue. Many folk think farmed salmon is a healthy green alternative to meat rather than an industry thats caused a decline in hundreds of rivers that were once teeming in salmon before cages appeared. Respect from York.
Thats a stunning looking dog mate and im so sorry to hear shes coming to the end of her life, i hope however long she has left she enjoys every day and gets out fishing as much as possible. just came across your channel by pure accident so you have a new subscriber, love the videos and your passion for the sport. Good to see hard work paying off with a cracking fish, is their a better noise than a screaming reel ? You're living the dream mate, keep it up 😊
Many thanks for your sentiments regarding Karla. She is a beauty of a dog and has been a great companion and hopefully she has a fish or two left in her yet. Glad you're enjoying the channel
Great Tweed beat, lovely piece of water. What a cracking fish Rob well done. Thanks for taking the effort to share, very much appreciated. All the very best to you and Karla . Cheers 👍
Brilliant again sir well done thankfully remember they good old says when the rivers were full of fish but that didn't make it easier to catch them still had plenty of blanks
Fantastic! Well done.......and well deserved! Great fight and forcing the heavy breathing lol. Love the sound of the reel screaming ! Thanks for sharing.
Love your videos Rob and great to see you fishing Lower Birgham. You have a great attitude to your fishing and I was delighted to see you land another springer, this time from Nether Stream, my favourite pool on the beat. Head Boatman Tom is a is a top man and I can imagine his delight at your success! Hope you enjoyed it enough to make a return visit. Looking forward to your next video. Tight Lines.
Many thanks Simon. Tom is a good guy and it's definitely somewhere I will fish again. That stream absolutely screamed fish to me and tbh I was expecting a pull with every cast even though the water was tearing through.
@@abakerslife Thanks for replying Rob. You were obviously born to become a salmon angler! Hope you have the chance of an odd day at L. Birgham this season. Looking forward to all your future videos.Cheers.
@abakerslife yeh Monday will be a good day to book fishing then. should you have that opportunity, I always find it quite frustrating, being up the Highlands, the river looks great but you have to wait. Also you can't fish for the sea trout on a sat night after 12. Love your content, Hope Carla is OK 👍
Cheers Chris I'm just going to keep on going with the theory that if you make enough casts the laws of probability mean that you'll put a fly on a fishes nose eventually.
Congratulations Rob……..you certainly deserve that fish As you really put the effort in. Sincerely hope that Karla’s health improves and she is with you On the riverbank indefinitely. Really enjoy your video’s…….You have come on a lot since you started Salmon fishing… Best wishes @ Tight Lines…👍👍👍
Many thanks as long as Karla is able we are just going to keep at it. Sadly nothing lasts forever but while she is still here we will just enjoy the time left.
Different class bud and brilliant video , loved the sound of that reel go and cracker of a fish ,well done m8 ,,, brilliant life and hope your companion is OK, brilliant how you treat her pal , well done 👏
Great fishing videos! It's the shite n onions as we sw Scots would say, not just ghe catches. Keep going as you haven't a clue who you've inspired. Hopefully I'll bump into you this season and fish a while together
Fantastic fish and fantastic video! I was hootin’ and hollering the whole fight. Must be one of the best takes on the internet. Just brilliant. Cooking a lovely meal and listening to MSSP gave me a crack too! Thumbs up from me. Best wishes with Karla, the black beauty
Cheers mate Matt and Shane crack me up! Glad you enjoyed the video. Hopefully Karla has a few more visits to the river in her yet. Oh and yeah that take...I've been dreaming about every night since!!
Caught one like that on a small river in Ireland a light sage rod and wet fly and they're some fish for sport. Left it back to fight another day. Well done hope you have a great season 👍👍✨
Glad you enjoyed it, I think if we all start demanding action then there is no reason the decline can't be halted. Its been done before in other countries.
I jjust love the. Consept. Fishing then the van with the cooking and the dog. I do the same mate. Fish campervan and my dog to. Cant beat it mate all over Scotland might start a we RU-vid up myself. Iam a chef to 26 years of it and your meals look good lol and a we beer with it. Well done mate
That run and screaming reel !! Wow , that noise is beautiful.. if you ever make it near campbeltown in argyll in late summer early autumn and there is good rain I am the guide/ghillie on our spate water , look me up if you want a day or two
Many thanks, it's true, I am nothing if not game!! I feel sort of compelled to go hard for the rest of the year after the start I've had just to see what is possible.
Nice I would love to catch one on the fly. Had a 12lb Salmon on a spinner 10 years ago fishing the Wye. Technically I was Pike fishing but it was a lovely suprise.
Well done, again. I just booked a day at Tweedhill in late April. This video just got me ramped up. Also, wondering if you can tell me what rod you use on the Coquette due to the rod length restriction? Thanks.
Spill, what beat was tht lol. Your fair getting into some, I took a day out at cardrona the other day. Way to early for up there but oh well I just wanted out. Debating where to head Friday Incredibly sorry to hear about Carla She looks a lovely companion and I’m sure she is Tight lines and praying for you both
It was Lower Birgham, I really enjoyed it. Thanks for the sentiments re Karl. She is a great fishing buddy and when she is not around it will be like losing my shadow but in the meantime we are just going to.make the most of each day.
The salmon are probably being harvested at sea. I watch video after video of fishing in the UK and catching nothing. The time is now to fix it. You have absolutely beautiful rivers and streams.
Well not necessarily it’s worse than that. What is happening is these trawlers are catching all the herring which is the salmons main food source at sea and while they are dragging these massive nets along the sea bed they are ripping up all the vegetation. So you have to imagine you’re a young salmon and you get out the river and head out to sea only to find there is minimal food and there’s no kelp forest anymore to hide in from predators. But let’s be positive and say that you survive your first year at sea and you start your journey back up stream only to find you are met at the mouth of the river by a mass of common gray seals which are hugely overpopulated but no one will do anything about because they are cute and according to “experts” grey seals don’t eat salmon. But let’s say you make it past all that and you start making it up stream you are then met by the worse of them all, disease. Disease that is cause by the god awful salmon farms which no one is doing anything about because of the demand for salmon meat is too high. There’s also otters, gooseanders, cormorants and modern farming techniques too. So if you put all that together you can get a good idea why there are fuck all salmon left but don’t you forget don’t you dare take 1 salmon home for your dinner because you effect the salmon population! This country is a disgrace.
