Need to scalp before green up so you can put down pre-emerg and spray w/glyphosate without stunting the new growth. Also, scalping doesn’t remove thatch.
thank you for the comments. my lawn doesn’t go completely dormant so glyphosate isn’t an option. and, yes, a very low scalp will remove some (but not all) thatch.
