I just want you to know Maddie, that you have helped me so much on my journey to love my "adult body". Every time I watch one of your videos I just find you really beautiful, very womanly - and I love that about you. And knowing you have been struggling with accepting yourself as well, gives me hope actually, that I might get there myself. Also: we might be super harsh on ourselves and yet there are other people out there who see us and find us really lovely for All the things we dislike about ourselves. honestly, getting a color consultation would be such a great investment! i had one done in high school and it completely changed the way I shop. it put me onto the color palette and tones (muted vs. bright) that suit me, and impacted not only my clothes decisions, but my makeup and hair as well. it has made it much easier to shop mindfully, and most importantly, it really impacted my confidence in my appearance and how I hold myself.

Regardless of your eye color, I believe you are a classic Winter-think Snow White. True, clear colors whether bright or icy, plus black & white. Undertones should be cool (blued reds, blued pinks, blued greens). Trust the colors your eyes are instinctively drawn to. Rosy creams over warm (yellow undertoned) creams & beiges. You will find your colors all go together. Extends your wardrobe & makes selecting easier.

You've hit the nail on the head, even that beautiful floral dress has quite strong colours. Re the pink skirt, just pair it with a top that's a better colour for you, unless you're planning to wear it as a scarf 😄. On a side note, I'm convinced the only person IN THE WORLD who looks good in head to toe beige is J Lo!

Hey Madeleine, my husband got VERY yellow sun screen on his white linen shirt as well last summer and I got it out completely with soaking it in warm water with vanish oxi action crystal white (the powder kind), then putting some of the powder, mixed with water to form a paste, on the most "offensive" spots and scrubbing it with a fabric cleaner brush. I repeated that circle a few times, always washing the shirt between each treatment to get all the detergent out. It took a few soakes/washes since the stains were bright yellow but I got it out eventually without damaging the fabric. I tried other, less harsh detergents, but one of them helped...

Don’t worry about colours washing you out that are on your bottom half. It’s about how the colour reflects off your face so it’s only tops that you need to think about. But then if you have a favourite top that does wash you out, try and find a scarf to put next to your face (as long as it complements the top and doesn’t wash you out) as the top will no longer wash you out

I’m so glad you mentioned keeping items in case your weight fluctuates. I have been on and off steroids for years and my closet has everything from a size 5 ( l’m only 5’2”) to size 16. Every time I stop talking the steroids for my rheumatoid arthritis my weight drops. Well meaning relatives have advised me to glean my large size items so I won’t slip back to wearing the large sizes. What they don’t understand is that it isn’t something totally in my control and as I age losing weight after steroids gets more difficult and size 8 is about the most I can manage. I rather not have to shop for larger sizes because I tossed them. You have taught me that eating healthy is important and not what size I wear but to me more comfortable with my body as it is in that moment.

I really needed this today. Feeling crap about my “new body “ after children. I am the same weight i have always been, but my shape is completely different. Lots of my clothes don’t fit the way they used too and I’ve kept them, but all they do is upset me. So you have motivated me into a wardrobe spring clean !. I completely agree with your little chat segment! 😆 I have lived with OCD for most of my life and realised that I have a tendency to fall into obsessive ‘lifestyle’ choices, I remember when I first found minimalism and got rid of 90% of my clothes. It was quite sad really as I used to love expressing myself through fashion. I now have a much more practical way of thinking about it, I love using minimalism as a way to keep my life simple but also know what makes me happy - and a traditional ‘scandi’ minimalist wardrobe isn’t one of them!! And remember, everyone has different lifestyles and lives in different climates, we can’t all live in shorts and tees 😆🥶 thanks for sharing!

I had my colours done a couple of years ago and they told me I shouldn’t wear yellow which I love so they totally lost me 😂. I think if you love a colour and it makes you happy then wear it….. I think you can get away with most colours.

Being high contrast means that you look better in deeper colours. That's why when you held the light pink skirt to your face, and then the darker pink dress, the darker pink suits you better :)

For suncream stains use half white vinegar with half fabric softener on a 60c wash, (they won't smell like vinegar afterwards)

I'm turning 44 and only just starting to accept my body for how it has changed since I was in my 20s. Many youtubers I watch are half my age and have the body I once had. I take heart in the fact they too will soon know the struggle as our mums did before us. It's just the life path we all will go through as women. I've never felt as happy and content with my shape now and enjoy looking for clothes more designed for my age and that will last me for years

I’m 66 years old and I don’t pay attention to sizes any more, but rather how clothes fit. Especially with vintage items, because sizing has changed so much over the decades and between manufacturers.

I think clear, strong, more saturated colours make you shine more than desaturated ones in general. I also love thinking about colour types/theories and what suits me and others. (Also, but I don't know if this might be triggering to people with body image issues, something that has really helped me find my own style and embrace my body and type is the Kibbe body types system. Maybe something you'd be interested to look into?)

About knee length boots- I wear those year round like docs, with dresses, big blazers with shorts and such, higher the boot, shorter the length of the bottoms is my rule for summer, you just have to have nice breathable socks for you feet not to get moist and hot 🤐 or very sheer black pantyhose for darker look, looks great in summer evenings, kinda grungy

For the sun cream stains, maybe try an enzymatic cleaner? I’m in the US, so I don’t know what’s available in the UK, but I’d try soaking it in water with some Oxy-Clean powder and then if that didn’t work I’d try Grandma’s Magic Spot Remover (don’t know what’s in that stuff but it smells like orange peels and gets grease stains out better than anything I’ve ever tried.)

-Yes, its smart to keep clothes that dont fit when our weight fluctuates. I regret getting rid of a lot of clothes bc my weight fluctuates a lot too, esp with having ibs, pcos and endo. Cant find the styles i love in stores anymore too 😩 -Don't get rid of anything youre not sure about pre season, best to wait post season so u know what u didnt want to wear and how they made u feel etc. 👍

I would be very inclined to say you are a clear/ bright spring due to your high contrast. remember that high contrast doesn't mean you are cool I made this mistake I have your exact colouring and thought for so long I needed to be either deep winter or deep autumn due to the high contrast recently I found out I'm a bright spring and it has changed rhe way I dress I finally feeling like I'm dressing like myself. have a look at the app best colours / colour wise it helps with different tones of the same colour that will be best like with the yellow you mentioned xx

A good way to get sun screen and greasy stuff out of clothes is an emulsifier for laundry. It's usually a liquid which you can rub into the stain and then launder at at least 40°c. Laundry emulsifier is great also for any oil or grease spills on fabric. You can also put it in the first wash compartment in the machine and your regular detergent in the second wash compartment for your sheets if they are getting yellowy. It's usually sweat and skin oils that your normal detergent can't budge. Hope that short essay helped😅

I love your approach to not defining yourself based on what other people say is or isn’t minimalism, vegan, or any other descriptor. A color consolation would be a great investment, though you can do a lot with personal observation-what washes you out or brings life. As far as the button up dress goes, the fabric and idea of the dress is darling, but it didn’t seem like you felt super comfortable and confident in it-regardless of fit or appearance. If it were me, I’d rather exchange it for something that would make me feel confident and comfortable. That one will just stay in your closet because something else with always feel better and it’ll be a reminder of the feeling you have when you wear it. Love your content!

Something I've found regarding colours is thr fabric makes a massive difference, eg. I can't wear a light grey marle sweatshirt at all but the same colour in a linen or wool is totally fine!

I had some stained linen pillow cover (with oil from hair routine) and I put them in a bucket filled with baking soda and boiling water and let them soak until the water get cold. Did it 2 times because the linen was heavily stained with oil and I worked so well! After that, I popped them on the washing machine. My pillowcase are yellow so I couldn't see yellow stains, it was more grease stains but maybe it will help you with your sunscreen stains ?

I have never understood the putting away different season wardrobe thing because where I live the weather doesn’t permit seasonal wardrobes. I mean I have worn shorts on Christmas and a heavy coat on new years. It’s wild out here. The most wardrobe exchanging I will do is put up my fuzzy socks come March lol.

I recently treated sunblock stains on my white linen gardening shirt. I used salt and lemon juice and let it sit a few hours, then washed. It did lighten the stain. Apparently, it is a type of rust stain due to the chemistry of hard water and sunblock. A rust remover stain stick should also work.

For the stains on white or light clothes you can try a stain remover and then soaking in the warmest water the fabric can handle with sodium percarbonate (it a laundry whitener that comes in granular form)

You are definitely high contrast. A colour consult can go into more details and can be really useful when you need to purchase clothing. I don’t fit within the seasonal system very well. My colouring is a high contrast with neutral warm undertone. The colours that best suit me are soft autumn and the dark summer colours. In terms of colours that don’t suit, but you still like, you can wear them away from your face or get away with having an open jacket or cardigan. I think you would look gorgeous in dark reds and pinks. I think just google colour consult and your area and see what comes up, there are a few online consults you can do and self tests. I have had mixed results with the self tests and ended up getting a proper consult.J
