#springboks #newzealandrugby #rugbyworldcup Springboks 35-7 All Blacks South Africa defeated New Zealand at Twickenham in their final match before the Rugby Word Cup.
Boks vs All Blacks.Huge pride and will never be a friendly or a warm up.Happy that Twickenham got to expierence the intensity of this massive rivalry.Respect always to ABs.Boks will always love and respect them.
Hands down the two most passionate rugby nations in the world. Great performance by the boks. AB was lacking in a few areas but still not a side to be taken lightly.
You guys must make sure you beat the French, and we need to make sure we top our pool, cause I don't want the boks to play the ABs in the quarters. I want to see that in the world cup final
As a South African where rugby is literally in our DNA. We live and breathe green and gold. It certainly upsets me that our boks are always spoken of as if we the amateurs trying to play big league with new Zealand and Australia. The Springboks have more than proved themselves on the rugby world stage. I really don’t feel that our boys are given the respect the deserve. I will kindly remind the world that we are the defending World Cup champions 🤷♀️🇿🇦🇿🇦❤️❤️🇿🇦🇿🇦🫶💪
Kiwis we kind of got that rugby DNA you speak of, consistent if nothing more. No one's calling the Boks amateurs well no one who has a clue. Australia better get their shite together some time this decade!
@@subcommunity7070 oh don’t get me wrong ,all of us down south are rugby mad!!! Australia let us down against France.I am a springbok but we keep the cup in the south no matter what. You guys get my support if we not playing or go out. We three are extremely competitive on the field for very good reason.
The rivelry between these 2 teams is really one of the most wonderful thing. Outside of fans these 2 teams have a great respect for each other. I do also feel that SA being pushed out of southern hemisphere rugby to some extent has forced our hand to compete in northen hemisphere rugby.,i beleive that this has helped us while the Aus team i feel has lost its edge. My blood is green and gold till i die, but NZ is a strong team and not to be underestimate by one massive loss.
From a Saffa, nothing feels more euphoric than beating our greatest nemesis. It's almost on the level of winning the world cup. It's the most beautiful and emotional rivalry in world rugby.
With respect to Mr Reynolds: there is no way that the ABs were not mentally in tune or up for this game,.... there simply is no test match rivalry that can compare to the Boks ABs. No matter the context the ABs and Boks are absolutely desperate to beat each other. The Bok pack was just so good that the ABs dangerous backline got backfoot ball. The Boks bullied the ABs into submission, forcing discipline errors and the red card.
Definitely. We are seeing the great rivalry that started many years back. The Springboks team now is dangerous. New Zealand is dangerous but Springboks is quite dangerous compared to many years before 2019. Never thought we could see a very beast Springboks before 2019. This is insane
Completely agree Stuart, the best tests are always ABs vs Springboks because both teams respect the rivalry so much. Well done to the boks, haven't seen the ABs that badly beaten in every aspect ever
Sorry I disagree the All blacks know excatly what they do when they break the rules in their own 22 ... from the days of Richie Mcaw the AB have been doing it ... when they pinned in their own 22 they commit proffesional fouls so that the opposition team will get a penalty and they hope the team will kick for goal and they suffer a 3 point loss instead of 7 from the attacking team ... its an old trick of them for many many years .... they go off side... slow the ball down so the attacking team wont score a 7 pointer and get the penalty and then Richie will look at the referee like a dissillutioned moron like he didnt know what he was doing .... he and today Sam C etc they all know exactly what they are doing ! and the world referees need to wake up to the AB criminal activity ! Remeber many of the all balacks today come from families that were thrown out of England because they were criminals and got deported .... in the 1800s .... criminals breed criminals ..... just saying
Agreed, the AB's never check out of a contest even if they are winning by 40points I've never seen them coast, they keep pushing till the end. This was their best team, no resting players etc.
As a Bok fan and supporter, it was a great game and a great win. It wasn't perfect but can be perfected. The old foe/rivalry never ceases to amaze But anybody writing off NZ do so at your own peril. They most certainly will work on a few issues that let them down tonight and will be back stronger and more precise next game. France had better watch out.... A wounded NZ side is a dangerous beast....just ask us South Africans. I hope the NZ prop knee injury isn't to serious, he was pretty solid up till that point. 🙏
Fellow South African here. Well said! We hold the Kiwi's in high regard. We strive for our best when we go up against them and in turn they strive to do better. I am excited for this World Cup as the top teams will definitely be bringing some excellent rugby and I am very pleased to see the smaller nations also striving towards becoming even better. This is good for the sport that we so love. May the best team win the World Cup!!!
You know, without a doubt, that AB fans would be saying the same thing about the Boks if the roles were reversed. That's the sort of mutual respect that's characteristic of this rivalry that I love seeing. If it were any other team, particularly certain teams in the NH of a certain union who goes by the name of "Jack", either of these teams would written off after that defeat.
Despite the scoreline, Boks were far from perfect. Don't get me wrong, this was a brilliant performance. But the Boks looked like they could do better. And that's frightening!
Just watched England being beaten by Fiji - it's not just the referee, it's the guy watching the cameras behind the scenes who sees that knock on, bad tackle, forward pass, etc and bring that to the referees attention. One disallowed try each but that's how it should be - level playing fields and the officials using the same technology we get at home.
I was in the stands tonight at Twickenham. The All Blacks are not a team that needs to "prove anything " as you said. However as as the institution they are, complacency or lethargy isn't in their vocabulary. They were 35-0 down at 70 mins. They didn't leave their 22 for the first 10-12 mins. The competitive nature of the game was done at 60 mins. The Boks were so physically dominant that it was a true spectacle to see. AB had no retort.
Would you bust a gut if you were a man down playing in a nothing match with a bigger prize at stake just around the corner? I wouldn't. And I wouldn't expect any of the All Blacks to either. The introduction of the RWC many years ago has led to these 'friendlies'. It's not something I'm happy with, but so be it.
Absolute rubbish about the AB's taking this game as just a warm up and Boks needing this win at all costs. This was a strong Bok and AB side. Infront of 82k people at Twickenham 2 weeks out of the WC both teams needed a good win.
@@njakes3001 How did I devalue the win. If you read the comment properly you will note that I did the exact opposite. I was implying that the AB's didn't face this game as just a warm up. This was a high stakes game regardless of the looming world cup.
Italian Boks fan here. IMO some good takes like the intensity of the forwards (players like Siya and Eben coming back from injuries look like at their best shape) and the options on the backs (I really hope to see Esterhuizen at 12 and Willemse at 15 in the starting lineup in the RWC)... sadly for him Makazole is the less good wing in the team, Moodie is so brilliant and KLA is a scoring machine with very good defensive readings and Kolbe has to play if he is fit (I will have Moodie as the other wing even if is heart-breaking to keep KLA out). I would still back Kriel at 13 but Moodie he is a real option also as outside center (and what a game against a speedster powerful talent like Ioane) and KLA on the wing then. About the things to improve: De Klerk made a couple of bad decisions (a grubber over dead line playing an advantage, a box kick in the dead line and, the worst of them, picked up a ball from an advancing scrum knocking it off so from a likely penalty in favour to a scum against)...these clearly look not so bad when you are 14-0 or 21-0 and one man up...but they can be costly in a knockout tight game in the RWC. Also very poor decision making by Siya-Eben-Duane in the first quarter: when you are playing 15v13 and you have a penalty on the opponent 5mt line...you have to call for a scrum! there is no way you can't score a try with a scrum! if the AB play a 8-men scrum to "try" to hold on (and is not granted they will) then you have 40mt of pitch to play a 6v4 overlap... if the ABs decide to scrum in 7 players...then you will roll them outside the stadium! I am sure Rassie and Nienaber will review that decision: to go for touch (and eventually knock on the ball in the maul) is just conceptually so wrong. Another point of possible concern is that we might have peaked fitness a bit too early: the quarter finals are in 50 days and the final in 62 or something like that... fingers cross we can keep this fitness level for and this intensity also during the pool and knockout stages of the RWC. Go Bokke, always.
Mapempi is and will always have caracter... you underestimating him.... he comes from my generation as a South African... we dont fail .... we never do !
Springboks played very well and deserve to win. Their discipline was better, they dominated us in the forwards, and when they got things going in that backline they were dangerous. The Bok pressure was so good, the ABs, ended-up making too many mistakes in there own 22. Entering the ruck from the wrong side, or losing the ball in contact. And giving away silly penalties in the line outs, and conceding penalties one after another. And to make matters even harder, We end up losing two to the bin, and then losing Barrette again with a red, which was one of the dumbest thing he did. We needed to have all their players on the field for 80 minutes, If we were going to this win match. Congratulation Springboks.👍
Have to say I was at Twickers and it was rocking. Our Boks are cooking now but a hurting All Black is a dangerous All Black and they will be back. Good game against the two rugby giants
As an Irish fan, major gulp 😮. Getting out of the group just got more difficult but not impossible. Whoever wins the WC will deserve it, nobody will fluke it unless the top teams are so depleted by the semis and final.
Moodie at 20 is a real find. His vision was so natural. SA were always good but having a bigger pool to choose from has raised SA to a new level. Wow! NZ were remarkable for not giving away more points. Kudos to them. Great build up to RWC
not that it matters, but that try from Moodie was legit, he was bound to Mapimpi and event if he wasnt he clearly stepped back into side. But yes, how predatory and natural was that attack, when he was flowing just pure instinct. Sooooo good, he is a mega talent.
@@peterwright9905 - bly liewers net stil jou dom drol. Even the NZ commenator called this out, like if a kiwi commentator says its legit then you know...he was not just touching mapimpi, he was holding his jersey, clear as day.
The Boks seem to be the only team people aren't convinced are contender for the WC and somehow need convincing while simultaneously being the current world champions and consistently being in the top 5, I really don't get it.
Ther have to talk like that to give themselves some false hope of winning the world cup. With the best conversion rate in world cups they all know full well who the real danger team is!
Springbok fan here.. great analysis of the game bud, whilst I’ll take this win every day of the week and shows the Boks are contenders, the AB’s will be back stronger and major contenders. World Cup this year is going to be something special where on the day.. anything can happen with any of the top 7 teams..
I remember last week when the boys beat Wales, some people were trying to belittle the win by saying 'Oh you just beat a Wales B side', 'Wales were never that good anyway' etc. To all the critics, what do you have to say now? South Africa were excellent tonight! Our forwards dominated the kiwis and our defence was water tight. Mind you the Boks shut our NZ for 70 minutes straight! As long as there are no major injuries, the boys can go all the way. I respect every side at the RWC but South Africa will be very, very hard to beat. Ecstatic😊🇿🇦💪🏻💪🏾
As a Bok supporter I always felt we "owed" the ABs a result like this for the pain they've dealt us... but tho its a good win, the RWC hasn't started yet. lets take it game by game
It was Wales 3rd string fringe players, no North, Biggar, Halfpenny, Gareth Davies, Liam Williams, josh Adams, Etc 😩 dodgy decisions, and loose Welsh play, now we have perspective.
Wales is a good side no argument there. How many WCs have they one? Weather or not wales had a second string side, the all blacks didn't so the proof that SA are not paper tigers as stated by some you tubers. But i thought SA should have capitalized on the fact that NZ was playing with 13 men. It was good for the boks to win so conclusively. But again how many points did this give us towards the WC oh thats right none
What a game. Could have been 35 by half, and credit to the ABs for their resilience in the opening 20. I did not have New Zealand's heaviest ever defeat on my bingo card. ABs will bounce back and that France game in 2 weeks time looks even tastier than it did before!
The all blacks used illegal tactics to stop the Springboks and this helped them to nip a lot of movement in the bud. If the Springboks had kicked the penalty at the posts they would have scored more points. But they kept trying to score tries and they managed to do so.
@@ant1056 All the early engages against the Springbok lineouts in the first 18 minutes. NZ were penalised, but they did manage to stop the Boks from scoring. These resulted in the yellows so it’s swings and roundabouts.
@@JJ-li3lkthe usual shite they get away with until it comes world cup time and they don't get incompetent Aussie refs. Any more questions champ, or would you like a complete breakdown of the 2 yellows by the 15 minute mark.
Hi Alfred, you have excellent presentation skills. If somebody showed me this video without telling me it's a you tube video, I would have thought it's a clip from a major network. I think you are just far above average.
I’m a Bok supporter. A bit of a weird game. If those penalties had been blown like that against the Boks in the beginning, we would have been swearing at the ref, and I bet the ABs felt like that. The ref’s interpretation certainly seemed to take the ABs by surprise in the lineouts. The Boks’ pressure was immense and the AB defence was up to it, how we didn’t score earlier was unbelievable. All respect to the ABs and nothing else matters now, it’s just about performing during the tournament. ABs are still strong favourites and they’ll build off that game.
What a great advertisement for rugby. Both teams played their hearts out. Respect to both teams for spirit the game was played in. Nice one Twickenham and the people who paid to watch the game. Reckon you got your money’s worth. Respect.
Boks just made a statement of note today. They are dangerous with any 15 players on the day. And that should be scary for their opponents in the world cup. There is no B team
Seeing the emotions on Savea during the anthem, I thought NZ were really be up for it. But the SA forward pack were brilliant. When the ABs started tapping the ball you know they had capitulated. Muonga really does struggle going backwards. Talea played well regardless. Samisoni needs to play against Boks and French. Boks coming good with their depth
Long term strategy of rotation and shrewd multiple foreward moves and plays by the Boks with a lot more still up their sleeves make them serious contenders for WC. Rassie is a genius with these humble guys who play to eachother and country.
excited for our Boks. we have the hardest pool against the Scotts and the Irish, and putting our mark out there against a quality All black side (on paper) is just what we needed we know this is a 90% mind game and you need such a great win to go up against a Scott team with that mental drive thank you for your analysis
When the Boks play with their first team (Marx and compamy) it is game set and match. The bomb squad can then come in and mop the blood from the floors
Thank you for sharing your views and insights. I think you are spot on with your analysis that the two sides came into the match with different motivation. With the ABs coming off a string of good wins over the year were probably more worried about injuries than anything else. The Boks on the other hand came in to the game hungry, with a lot of players still competing for the jersey which shows in the over team performance. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I believe the Boks left more than ten points on the park. The presence of Captain Fantastic, Siya Kolisi lifts the team to superior performance. We all know that coaches are still experimenting with combinations, so we should not read too much into this result. New Zealand are a proud rugby nation with deep history to draw on, know that they will bounce back with purpose. I was particularly impressed with Cam, he came on with fresh legs, fresh ideas and exposed a number of gaps in the Bok defense. There might be trouble brewing in the second row, especially if Scott cops a one or two match ban. While the ABs came in to the game as clear favorites, I believe there was a small momentum shift towards the Boks. Just my 5c
Us aussies were up 17 to 3 at half time last time...kiwi won came back and beat us last minute..they were happy at come back my take was .give the top sides a big lead like that they punish you ..sa did that .delighted to knock kiwi arrogance..well done sa..
No disrespect mate but you guys did that against a “B” team. Once more of their starters came on the comeback started. That lead would never have existed to begin with if they started with a full strength side.
Im a kiwi and i love my abs 100%. I admired SA the way they play. Well, we are not good enough today. Full credit to the bokkes. Well, SA just too good for us. We will meet again in 2weeks time. I have no complain. I never talk about yellow and red cards. We deserve it. Ref is good and fair. Like i said, we are not good enough.
Great take on the game from an unbiased viewpoint. I think the biggest moment of the game was when the entire Bok pack was replaced by the bomb squad. Suddenly lineout and scrum possesion stared flowing.
Considering turning pressure into points is only place i feel we were lacking but considering we left about 7 or 8 kickable goals because we wanted to maul. Looks like boks had another gear or two in physicality i didnt know they had,but a gear few can handle. Happy as a bok fan.
As a Springbok supporter , I was thrilled by the performance , but heartbroken for the All Blacks. They looked broken by the end of the game. The two greatest rugby nations to ever do it , in my humble opinion.
Mate, they've done it to us so many times we more than deserve to be on the other side of the fence for once. Don't worry about the ABs, they're big boys and will come back harder next time, just enjoy the win.
@@craigweideman6194 I don't pity them at all, but I hope Barrett is not suspended (unless the hit is deemed to pass the red card threshhold) because he got the team yellow card for something PSDT did a bit later and was only penalised (but SA weren't on a warning so that is also fair). Also hope Lomax is okay because that was fucking mental!!
All Blacks could not match our intensity, they simply could not help to crumble in that constant aggressive game plan and pressure, Rassie and team showed the world our readiness maybe too early but pure adrenaline from the boy's, with 2 bomb squads we wore the Mighty All Blacks down which is no easy feat for the faint hearted, still much respect for NZ but we were unstoppable just a real force of nature and Rassie them released the Springbok as a weapon of mass destruction, Pure joy and I am not even worried if we don't win the World Cup, this performance was greatness, stop for while and consider this achievement despite the timing of the win, History was made by our green army and I can go on and on... the measure of my pride is immeasurable, Go Bokke❤❤️💕♥️🎈🎈
WHY ARE YOU COMPARING THE RUGBY CHAMPIONSHIP GAME TO THIS ONE??? NZ HAD HOME GROUND ADVANTAGE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP AND NOW THEY PLAYED ON NEUTRAL FIELD!!! JUST GIVE PROPS TO THE BOKS!!!
I still reckon our biggest problem position is our coach. Fozzie just doesn’t seem to know how to change our game plan. South Africa and Ireland are the 2 teams to beat.
Playing nz in nz was tough. Boks gel better now. Boks good playing southern teams in Europe. Dam is getting full. They are about to peak. Great squad management
One of my insights from this game is that the ABs do not know how to chase a game. What I mean by that is that they are used to scoring 2 tries within the first 10 minutes and their opponents rarely come back. But when they are hit with intensity from minute 1 like today; and when they have early scoreboard pressure, that is an unfamiliar place for them and the wheel’s sometimes fall off.
Your insights seem to have left out a long and storied history of AB’s teams not only chasing games but, successfully catching the overwhelming majority of those they were forced to chase. The current incarnation of the AB’s is actually suffering from an acute case of Fosteritis, which can be overcome by a hearty beverage of Robertson’s Finest.
@@biggest23 Not a Fozzie fan, I see. Regarding my point, another example of it was in SA last year, where they suffered a significant loss. But you will tell me that it was due to Fozzie.
@@shaneelbachoo2480 ….Wow, compared to a stick insect’s leg, that’s quite the plump dataset you’ve wheeled out in an attempt to make your claim look like it’s based in reality. If you studiously ignore all the times reality didn’t jive with your assertions, which is many times, you could easily pretend what you’re asserting actually occurred.
I was hugely impressed by Mark Telea, he seemed to be the only player in black wanting to take the game to the Boks. But all round an emphatic vindication of the Boks brain trust's rotation and experimentation strategy.
The only three games that come to mind where the AB were beaten so convincingly. Aussie in the 2003 semi. Poms in the 2019 semi. And the irish lads beating them in NZ taking the series.
Can’t beat SA with 14 men , best SA have played against the ABs that I’ve ever seen and the worst the ABs have played since um… I can’t remember! Well done SA hopefully NZ can bounce back 🤷🏻
The climb to W.C success is long and bumpy, great game from the Bokke, stunning and scary, and yeh, impressive everywhere. Diamonds are made by heat and pressure, and I know there are a few in black getting cooked right now, we got tested, and failed, spectacularly.
1:50 THANK YOU SIR!! You just *highlighted* what I've commented weeks ago after R.C was won and secured. When you've won R.C and Bledisloe, playing this warm up against our biggest foe, who i knew would be *up for it,* we have *nothing to gain and everything to lose.* *Real dumb* from Scott Barrett!
More discipline for both sides going into world cup, loved the atmosphere and making the road to gold cup even harder for all , pressure will be key . Stay calm Boks and it can be 4 times
Bud, with all due respect. All All Blacks vs Springbok games, both teams have something to prove always. The Boks are just that damn good. They got a habit of only showing their hand close to the world cup.
Well done Springboks. Too good in this game. Knockout rugby is where it’s at. That’s what each team will be judged on. Whether they can make it to quarters and win knockout rugby.
The Boks in that first game were simply rusty as a team. Traditionally we are slow starters. That is why I think these 3 warm up games for us were crucial.
well the real truth is that the cards will be a major factor in deciding who wins as was shown in this game, whoop all you want, until it happens to you!!!!!!
@@carolmcdermott7844 LOL what's not fair is some of the home nations buying up whatever foreign players they can get their hands on because of some sense of entitlement to a decent team. Watching Ireland play Scotland is confusing, feels more like a Super Rugby game than an international UK derby.
It shows you the dept that Springboks, have in their forwards and the type if strength that there is ,and like you said Alfred I dont emotionally the allblacks were not there and they no they had nothing to loose well done to the boks wow canan moodie a good talent I think his going to be one of the key players for the boks in the world cup but do you play him in center or wing so let's roll in the world cup come scotland we are ready for you.
Alot depends on the paasage of games in the group. Ireland play Boks last so many variables at that stage with regards to injuries, game time and the reading of both teams. Will be interesting.
I don't know what was more disappointing as an All Blacks fan, how badly they played or the negative tactics they used to try hamstring the Boks when they were on attack. I do know, the negative tactics, every team does it a bit when down but it's like this team made a list of all the ways they could disrespect the jersey and they sure made a good attempt of ticking every one of them off the list.
Spot on review.I thought the abs would win easily !That was some statement suddenly made the WC far more exciting,Ire and France could struggle with that level of intesity.
On so many occasions SA has been on the receiving end of a real pummeling by NZ, so it came as quite a shock that the Boks were so dominant for 80 minutes. I don't think NZ held anything back - you don't select your strongest side just to play it safe - and if they had nothing to prove then they could have selected a weaker side - they were just completely blown away by the Bok power game. Similar thing happened at Mount Smart, but the reverse. The ABs will be so much better for it though. Just look at Nelspruit and Johannesburg last year - ABs turned it around in a week.
As a bok fan, neither the books nor the kiwis has to prove to anyone that they contenders for a trophy they've both won thrice, whoever writes either off will get a rude awakening. There will never be friendlies between the all blacks and books. Friends before the game and after, but during, both teams wear their hearts on their sleeves. 🇿🇦🇳🇿
More or less expected that. Predicted the Boks by 15, but will take 28 points. 😉 No other team, including the Oceanians (once known as the All Blacks) has the forwards to compete with the Boks at RWC. Some people STILL have not taken note of what Rassie said when taking over at the Boks: NOTHING but the RWC title counts. ALL other games would be treated as experimental games. All Blacks title wins at RWC: 3 out of 9 attempts. Win %: 33,33 Springboks title wins at RWC: 3 out of 7 attempts. Win %: 42,85 GO BOKKE! 💪
