I’ve shot my Echelon a few thousand rounds already and have dumped empty mags on the ground in 2 matches. Haven’t had the first issue at all. In fact, it’s been flawless and is very accurate. Running a Holosun 507C green dot on it.
I bought 5 extra mags from Springfield when I got this pistol. Haven’t had a single issue with any of them. Put 300-500 rounds through. Even got the threaded barrel. Love this thing.
I'm sure there's a guy out there saying, "I've been a John for years and haven't got an STD yet!!! Therefore STD's can't be real!!!" Yep, It'll happen at the worst possible time buddy!
@@cheesybeast1721 The same thing with the magazines happened on TFB's RU-vid review. I guess here's the part where people start saying it's user error! LOL!!!!
@@helifanodobezanozi7689I mean it sort of was user error on TFBTV. James Reeves said it himself the base plate was installed incorrectly and didn't have any issues after properly assembling the magazine. NOW, it is certainly SA's fault for not assembling it correctly themselves.
This is just user error same thing happened to me and it was because the baseplate on the mag was not seated properly. No big deal. Once it was installed correctly i haven't had any issues.
The first thing I did with my Echelon was install the +3 baseplate on the second mag. I’ve run a few hundred rounds through the gun and it has performed flawlessly. I’ve mostly been using Blazer 115 grain but other ammo has worked fine also. It’s possible it doesn’t like the ammo you are using in spite of that same ammo working ok in other guns. I have several guns that are finicky about the ammo. The mag issue you are having is just weird - I wonder if the standard baseplate would have that same issue for you. I am experiencing none of those problems with mine.
I've been thoroughly impressed with my Springfield pistol. After firing around 500 rounds, it hasn't encountered a single issue. It's a true testament to its reliability. Amidst my diverse collection, including models from sig, Glock, SW, CZ, shadow system, I must admit the Springfield stands out. And when it comes to the best shooting experience, nothing beats my staccato P and the XC. Overall, a fantastic addition to my firearms lineup.
You bought a Springfield? Why? Supporting them is the equivalent of supporting gun control since they lobbied for it (and got it in the end) in Illinois. Tell me, what is your favorite flavor of boot polish?
@@remingtonsiefkas2458 Um, yes it was. Let me guess…you read Springfield’s (dishonest) press release and/or page on their website? The people who own the company and came up with the scheme STILL own the company.
I have to say, this review is so much different than my experience with the Echelon. I purchased mine on the first day or release. Currently have a minimum of 400 rounds through it with absolutely zero issues. Should also mention, I have never cleaned it. Only thing I changed was I installed a red dot (Vortex Defender). I also have a Walther PDP and I actually think the trigger on the Echelon is better. In fact I had both of them at the range together this past weekend. The grip texture on the Echelon is perfect in my opinion, just fits my grip perfectly. I feel that the action is so much lighter and smoother on the Echelon as well, over any other striker fired I have to include Glock, Sig, or Walther. I have had so many people stop me at the range to ask about it. Of course I offer to let them shoot a few through it and everyone has been ecstatic about it. Perhaps the one you reviewed just has its issues, because really I am enthusiastically impressed with mine.
@@Diabolus_Musica I have both. This is not making a statement having never shot one or the other. Literally had the Echelon and PDP at the range together Saturday and Sunday of this past weekend. I am tell you, in my opinion the Echelon is the better trigger.
@@PPSChadwick Gun folks on RU-vid kill me, really do. How many people do you know who don't have a RU-vid channel have more that 250 rounds through their weapon a month after release date. Come on! Anyone you know goes to the range in July and just shoots through $250-$300 worth of ammo on a Saturday, who aint getting compensated for it.
@@RallyTactical yea especially with my pdp PRO trigger lol. I don’t think any striker fired trigger is going to beat that anytime soon. I am not fired up about the texture on the Echelon either. It’s ok just not going to beat Walter pdp. Or my cz p10. Probably can be fixed when someone comes out with a new grip module. I will wait a year tell I buy one if I do so. I waited a year with my p10c my 365 macro and my pdp pro. No issues with any of them. Wait a year and find out has served me well.
@@RallyTactical Not disputing there are people out there who will speak favorably about this gun due to compensation or sponsorships. I am not one of those. Just simply sharing my experience with mine after 400 rounds (min). There are duds in every thing that is manufactured, if not there wouldn't be a need for quality control engineers.
I’d wait a couple years before I even thought about buying one. Teething problems are a real thing for most products. Glock all day everyday, thanks. Please come again
If the baseplate isn’t installed correctly it comes right off just like you showed. Once you get the little metal tab situated correctly you won’t have the problems you showed. It isn’t obvious how to do this (I had to look it up, not in the manual) but once you learn how it’s extremely easy. My buddy and I ran into the same thing on his until we learned this. Try it and let us know how it goes 👍
@@mikemarriam It seems like the problem they were having was not what I described. Or, I wonder if they were installed incorrectly at the factory. Once you know what it is supposed to look like, its easy to know if it is right or not.
@@mikemarriam the "little metal tab" is longer on one side stopping the baseplate from sliding off. in other vids you can see people pushing their baseplates off with ease flipping the plate around stops this from happening, I haven't heard of the sight plates coming off that's a new one I watched a durability review and the dude was banging and whackin the shit out of it and the sight never even left zero. Maybe it's just luck of the draw this was the last gun of the day at the factory and the guy putting it together was tryin to get home lol.
Shot 90 rounds through one using three different types of ammo with no issues. Saw other youtubers who did not install the the 20 round base plates correctly and dropped there rounds also. Once they read the manual and installed the base plates correctly the issues went away. That ammo may work well in other guns, but I would try some other types also. I have seen other accounts of the optics plate screws coming loose, but this wasn't the case with the one I shot. Hope that info helps.
Just like the p320. It is a brand new offering from Springfield. I am excited to see how this firearm performs once these issues are taken care of. I love seeing more companies move to the FCU platform. Just Sig fanboy myself since the p320 and 365 have been my go to guns for the past years. Excited to see more companies follow pace and push the polymer wonders father and father.
@@RallyTactical Oh I know exactly what you mean! I believe from the factory alone, Sig offers well over like 20 variations of both the 365 and 320. Its great to have options but my wallet hates me for it! lmao
yep. All first year guns seem to have something wrong. I remember when I bought my first M&P when it first came out in 2004 or whatever and it was a dog until they redesigned the feed ramp and recoil spring. It's good to wait until all the issues are sorted out.
Very interesting. Mine has had zero malfunctions. When i went to take my cover palte off to mount an optic, those screws were in there really tight. I had to grab the driver with a wrench to get the leverage to break em loose since i dont have a t handle torx. I have seen the issue where the baseplates are nit installed correctly by the users, but this is the first ive seen both bags just falling apart from the factory.
the music during the mag malfunctions had me rolling 🤣. My brother in law and i both bought Echelons about a week apart. Currently at 3200 on mine with no issues. BUT, when changing the 17rd mag to 20, i noticed the 20rd assembled by SA was assembled incorrectly (metal plate was inside the mag, not outside of it). I corrected it on spot and no issues. My bro on the other hand assembled the his 17 into 20 the same way SA assembled the included 20rd mag, with the metal plate inside the mag. Needless to say, about half his rounds fell forward of the firing line (indoor range) and he wasnt happy. Gun shoots and tracks very well.
Yours isn’t the only review that I’ve seen with these problems. Personally, I’m a huge SA fan. I carry the SA MilSpec EDC and have a Saint Victor as my long gun. I’m also old school in preferring hammer fired over striker fired. I really want to like the Echelon. I’ll wait a year or so for them to work out a few kinks though.
When I bought mine, the manual online even shows a video on how to properly install the extension. People just don't like to read. Every magazine issues video I've seen has been from people not properly seating the extension.
Haven't had a problem with either one of my mags...1200 in and no issues.... Zero. And it eats everything I feed it. I also installed the extended base plate on correctly.
Guys it's possible there was a malfunction or an error in production. There are thousands of reviews of Echalon to date and most are great, but sometimes these things happen. It doesn't mean that the gun is shit..as a matter a fact it is a great gun. I am sure he will be happy with it when it's back from the manufacturer repair.
@CH-gp8cq right?? It looks like the metal retention plate is tucked into the mag which would allow the extension to slide right off. And whats with the extension being all chewed up at the end of vid??
I bought mine about a week ago and haven’t had any issue up to about 200 rounds. I’ll be back in the country Sunday to put another 100 or more through it. Up to this point is been amazing
Bro, I have been watching firearm review videos on RU-vid for probably over 10+ years and by far, this is the FUNNIEST, most HONEST and REALEST review that I have ever seen. Love the "Threesome" comparison! The good the bad and the ugly all rolled in one. had to watch it 2x! Thanks for doing this. Just sub'd. I won't rule it out just yet.... I'll just wait a year like I did with the Prodigy. Great video!
I did build one of my extra 17 round mags (only ones I could find in stock lol) wrong I didn’t load it with ammo. I loaded into gun and exploded apart. Thought I had it built right. I rebuilt with instructions and it has not done it again.
Not the first time I’ve seen this issue with it. But teething issues are to be expected with a brand new design. I think it’s definitely the best striker fired pistol feature wise on the market. A very forward thinking pistol and I think once it gets it’s initial hick ups fixed, it’ll be an excellent pistol.
@AverageGIJoeOutdoors I'm still going to get an Echelon. I love my PDP, and think it's ergos and accuracy are 2nd to none. I do wish Walther would have gone full modular with a fire control group, but I guess beggars can't be choosers. But I like variety. I don't plan on getting rid of any of my pistols, I enjoy them all. The Echelon is just another flavor imo.
My favorite part is when you pull the "are you tired of your rounds falling out of your magazine?" Infomercial maneuver by pushing your hand forward on baseplates that you know dont have the correct floor plate installed. 2k followers. 60k views. You got exactly what you were after.
Slowed down the parts of the video where your mag comes apart to 0.10 speed and it looks like the mag mat not be assembled correctly. As the mag explodes and everything comes out, it appears as if the black metal base plate retainer comes out loose on its own, but it is supposed to be attached to the spring. I don't own one so I have no skin in the game, but I do know Springfield released a how-to video for the extended base plate install because lots of people were putting them together incorrectly.
That's why you always wait for the common people to do reviews that buy the gun themselves rather than sponsor or the ones that Springfield sends free guns to them........ You only hear everything is great just like The prodigy, but once people got the prodigy it was a different story, should be small fix it's only a mag
I've never been a fan of springfield pistols... however I decided to give this one a try and actually really like it. I personally havnt had anyone these issues. From what I've seen and heard if the base plates are not seated correctly this is when you run into these issues. I have even ordered and tested 2 new mags so I have 2 extended and 2 17 round mags and havnt had any issues
You bought a Springfield? Why? Supporting them is the equivalent of supporting gun control since they lobbied for it (and got it in the end) in Illinois. Tell me, what is your favorite flavor of boot polish?
I had a much different experience than yours mine has run flawless for the first 750 rounds. However, I have watched at least 2 other reviews that experienced the reverse mag dump like yours. One of them explained it as they put the extension on the way they thought it should go, but actually the lip (I guess you'd call it that) ends up on the outside of the mag to properly lock it in place. If you have it on the inside, (which is how it looks like it should go) it will cause the reverse mag dump. I couldn't see in your video if this was your issue because I couldn't see the back of the mags. Also, it appears that at least one of your mag springs was bent, this could cause the failure to lock back and is a super easy fix; you pull the spring outand bend it until it lays flat. The bent spring tends to cause an issue more often in mags with an extension on. Good review, I hope you have better luck with your gun when it comes back from Springfield.
@@RallyTacticalOne thing to note is that even if the plate is on the outside of the magazine, you still need to make sure the metal plate is seated all the way down in the actual polymer base plate. If the metal plate isn't seated on the way down, enough force could still allow the metal plate to slide up, allowing the polymer base plate to slide forward, leading to the mag dump. Just keep that in mind when you get your Echelon back. Looking forward to your update once you get it back.
This should confirm that the design of the mag extension is stupid and done poorly. The factory assemblers on initial runs have messed this up along with experienced shooters and armorers. It's not intuitive and appears to be made by the engineering intern who has never seen how others are designed.
My experience is to wait on most all "New Kids" on the block like this one for this very reason. Number one, TY has become nothing but a Paid for advertisement for most of the gun mans. in todays market. The first thing I noticed was they sent them all out with a massive light strapped on them to tame down the recoil. I asked a number of Super Tubers why they didn't take the light off and give a TRUE review of the gun. The gun will NOT come with a $350.00 to $400.00 light at the price point they clamed. All the ones I have seen have NO light on them for sale. Having said all that, can people truly believe someone will give a TRUE review of a gun that was given to them for T&E that will cost street people $600.00 + dollars. I wait and see by word of mouth from other shooters for this very reason. IMO it's all become a Cash Cow / Bank Roll for all other than the end user. That doesn't mean people don't put time and effort into making videos but what's it has become now days is another thing.
Something I've observed too - a lot of people need to change their grip hold on the pistol as they put pressure on teh slide release, causing it to not lock back on last round
If you shoot well and have a high grip it may not be effective to change grip…different firearms fit different hands if you have the issue with the majority of the firearms you shoot then yes maybe adjust your grip.
There is a video how to put together magazines. Assembled incorrectly, it falls apart, just like here. The side panel must be outside, not inside. Good idea is to check before going shooting.
Those must have been monday morning mags they qc'd after a ruff weekend of drinking😂 thanks for bringing this to light because i was about to buy one i think i will wait until its ironed out!
I had the same issue with the 20 round mag out of the box. Only happened once though. Hasn't happened again since I put it back together and haven't had any other issues either. I've got about 350 rounds through it so far.
That many malfunctions and reverse mag dumps is a no go. What's worse is they had to know about this issue already if they tested this model/mag combo before release.
@@RallyTactical I definitely thinks its a mag issue but the fact BOTH exploded like Biden walking up some stairs says they outsourced them from somewhere that shouldn't EVER make anything AGAIN. 👍
I was taking a nice nap, but the Echelon lovers gagging sounds woke me up, they shouldn't worry about these malfunctions, they will never happen at the top shelve of the closet.😂 Nice review! Easy fixes for Springfield.
It's kinda funny how under 1k rounds is considered high round counts. If these mag issues were later on in multiple thousands it would be understandable. But with Springfield known for shit QC, and it happening to multiple people, there's only one common denominator. Kinda funny how people try so hard to defend their purchase whether it's sig, Springfield, PSA, or recently the DA sierra. They're companies, all they care about is your money
😂😂😂😂😂 That is so funny. I say this all the time. Guys cry so hard about keeping our 2A rights yet they won't even stand up & use it for why it is put into place. Our country is being invaded and they don't want to take their AR15 out of the closet that babysits their rifle all year. All for show & No Go! 🤷♂️ Damn Shame🤦♂️ 💪🇺🇲👆
Before i purchase this i contacted springfield and they stated the mag issues has been resolved. They admitted it was a faulty install of the base plate on the extended mags from the factory. However i have run damn near 500+ rounds through min with zero malfunctions, with the exception of slide no locking back. But that was quickly determined to my fault with grip because i took two other firearms with me and well I can safely say it was my fault because they did the sane thing. Quickly corrected and no problems anymore
Its always best to wait at least a year before you buy the newest gun right after its released, gives it time for the manufacturer to fix any issues if they care to do so. Im gonna wait, im content and happy with my Hellcat for the time being..
Unfortunate, I am up to 800 rounds through mine. With all different brands, grain, and a combination of JHP and FMJ. Three different magazines, not one single issue if any kind. I guess it’s the lick of the draw when things are mass produced!
I have a Hellcat and have been seriously considering the Echelon based off my experience with that Springfield/HS Product firearm some other reviews I've seen/read. I would of course rent one at a range first, and I was also going to wait until a peanut butter colored version (FDE) comes out. The Hellcat has been flawless, with 5,000+ trouble-free rounds through it, mostly 115 & 124 Blazer and Winchester white box target ammo, but also a couple hundred rounds of Sig M17 124Gr +P and the Sig V-crown and Pilgrim hollow points I carry in my defense mags, just to ensure they work well too. I've used it and a G19 for carry, depending on my clothing choice/weather with no issues at all. I want a full-size gun for range time, and this seemed like one to check out. Hopefully Springfield sorts out the issues or you just got a lemon and they replace/repair it.
This is why I never buy gen 1 of any firearm. I let them work out the kinks and if I’m still interested I go for it! I must say though I almost bought the echelon the first week out. Springfield did an event at my local range and everyone got to try them out that day. Funny thing is the optics plates flew off both examples during the event. Not a good look at all for Springfield. 😂
New designs as stated before seem to have these issues more often than not . I believe springfield will figure this out. I'm glad I purchased my arex zero 1 t. No failures and 100 percent reliable.
1,000+ rounds through mine with freedom munitions 124 gr reman ball ammo, no malfunctions or issues with slide not locking back. Got 2 additional magazines from springfield and those are working fine as well. Maybe I got lucky, maybe you got lucky, I am unsure. You also seem to be slamming the magazine in a lot more forcefully which I am not doing, but if that is the cause of the issue that would definitely need to get fixed. My only issue is that it's a somewhat awkward angle for my thumb to lock the slide back because it's protected by the shelf around it.
New guns fail…it’s common. The P365 used to have issues but later on it became a popular pistol in the market after Sig fixed its issues. Sometimes it’s best to wait out on new designs until the issues are remedied.
1150rds in no malfunctions or issues with magazine or anything I wonder if they got a lemon idk but a lot of ppl around me had purchased one because of me and trust me if it was issues I would of been mad AF but it’s running like a tank for us
The finish on the barrel, breach face & trigger group’s slide rails is horrible also. Mine was new in box and looked like it had 1,000 rounds through it. The dealer offered a swap and sent me pictures of another one that was just as a bad. I handled a third in a local store and while it was slightly better, it still had more ware than a new gun should ever have. Springfield told me it was “normal” & sent me some swag as a consolation.
Just got my Echelon yesturday. Cleaned it lubed it and took it out back. I shot 4 mags thru it with no issues except 1, the trigger was hurting my finger. Don't know why but today going to shoot it again to see if i can figure that out. Other than that it was accurate, fast and smooth shooting. Glad i didn't have any mag issues but I'll see as rounds get put thru mine today.
I saw two out of a sample size of two have issues with the optic mounting system. A screw holding a cover plate sheared off 50 rounds in and on another one the screws holding an optic in walked out after 200 rounds (yes, the screws were treated with loc tite and cured for over 24 hours). It doesn't bring anything new to the table (aside from a cool optics mounting system). The way I see it...if you have a couple of good guns already save your money, spend that money on ammo, or hell get some protein powder and gym membership. If you are dead set on this...give it some time for the kinks to get worked out
The magazine issues are worrying especially since Springfield is marketing the Echelon as a duty pistol. I wonder if the issues are just with the 20 round base plate and spring. Did you experience the malfunctions running the 17 round base plate and spring?
I did the same thing. I didn't have the extension installed properly. When I disassembled it and put it back together I heard and felt when it snapped into place correctly. Over 500 rounds and no issues.
Apparently, the engineers that designed the magazine never used the old school Pearce mag extensions for Glock mags back in the day. Those things installed and came off the same way. Also, I understand that the internal base-plate retainer was stamped with the indent going into the mag body instead of out toward the base-plate. If so, it should be an easy fix with some "gentle displacement" using a hammer and punch. Hell, you might even be able to fabricate a better one. Sheet steel is cheap and a spring temper isn't hard to apply. If you wait for the factory or the after-market, you might be waiting a few months. This would be a grand-slam out of the park if they made it compatible with Gen 3 slides.
springfield armory rock river arms made campaign contributions to anti gun rights politicians They also discontinued importing the HS2000 pistol, renamed it the XD, and then upped the price a few hundred dollars. And they charge out the ass for the M1A, which is at best a budget M14.
Sorry, but I have to ask. There's a right and wrong way to add the 20 round extension. From the manual on assembling the 20 round mag: "Compress the spring into the tube until the front of the floor plate is just below the bottom forward face of the tube and the rearward vertical surface of the floor plate is on the outside of the tube." Is it possible the verticle surface is on the *inside* of the floor plate? It's an easy mistake to make. It's just that what you're showing is soooo different than anything else I've seen on all other reviews. Except there was one reviewer who was experiencing mag problems and they noticed they didn't assemble the mag properly. Did you have the same problems when running the 17 round mag configuration?
Good information, and it's good to know all of the issues before making this purchase. I also subbed your channel. keep rocking it bro.~Drop it like it's Scott
The extention on the mags droping free might of been caused due to being improperly installed. I have 374 rds through mine and thankfully haven't had any issues.
Are you positive you installed the basepads correctly? Everyone that’s had the same issue with mags falling apart like that had their basepads installed incorrectly.
Looks like you're only having issues with the extended mags. The common denominator for others with the issue, was the baseplate was installed incorrectly.
Multiple 1000 rd reviews with no issues…. Except yours. I guess I’d you want to be the 1001 reviewer you need something different to attract clicks. Lol
@stephandelaney4097 lol it was just the cover plate, not the "whole optic system" they come from the factory un-torqued and very little loctite because 99% of people take it off and put an optic on.
@RallyTactical weird because mine only came with one 20 rd mag, put together, I had to put the base plates on the others. And the tab on the baseplate is easy to put on wrong, and even easier to fix. Also weird that everyone with this issue was quickly able to identify the problem and correct it.
I took my plate off, cleaned it good underneath and added blue loctite. I don’t think out of the box the plate screws have much if any loctite to make it easy to get an RMR on out of the box. You are the 2nd or 3rd person who mentioned the plate screws backing out.
I had to use a t10 driver to get them off because i was afraid of stripping with a allen. Mine were “springfield tight” (Have to grunt to get them) tight. The sights are the same way. Most sight pushers aren’t strong enough to push the sights off. I ordered mine and had it sent to my ffl though. It never hit gun store hands.
You bought a Springfield? Why? Supporting them is the equivalent of supporting gun control since they lobbied for it (and got it in the end) in Illinois. Tell me, what is your favorite flavor of boot polish?
Weird... I've put probably 500 rds through my wife's. Not one single malfunction. But I also heard about the plates coming off and people losing the screws and pins... That is concerning to me, but Springfield will make it right, I'm sure. I'm thinking that may have been a specific production run, as opposed to general problems, but time will tell. Full disclosure, I'm a hardcore S&W guy, but I love this Sig killer...
Following just to get part two of this. I was really looking forward to this pistol, but very hesitant of all the normal guntubers who likely got handpicked gear. Very curious how Springfield addresses this.
But then Honest Outlaw does his review and practically destroys the gun to see how much damage it can take and still work… and not a single thing went wrong
People defending problems from a gun that is new out of the box especially when there are numerous cases always makes me laugh “I like the gun and will defend it with my life and be blind to it’s obvious issues out of the box and lack of QC” 😂
@@RallyTactical Scary to think a lot of people buy a new gun for HD or CC and will trust it straight out of the box I did when I was young and dumb but soon learned it’s not smart and that you should test every weapon to at least 200 rounds with different ammo before you trust it with your life along with continual testing up to 1k rounds
Hol' up... Why do I not see the mag springs falling out @7:25 except the 2nd to last example where hes not slamming the mag in but pulls off the extension with 2 fingers?? And I dont see the retention plate on the spring 🤔
Most excellent review. You saved me a lot of money as I am in the market for a good match pistol for competitions. To hell with that pistol. Thanks again for the review.
It's just a base plate seating issue. If you don't fully seat the base plates on the mags when you install the 20rnd extensions, it'll fall apart like in the video.
@@linkthelegend01That may be the issue, but the question I'd have is why both mags are having problems if that's the case. That would imply to me that one mag extension may have been installed incorrectly from the factory, given one of the mags comes with the +3 already installed.
I work at a gun store in N. Texas, and we got some Echelons in- but they were pulled from sales & returned to the factory. We still have one, that's our rental gun which we purchased, and so far nothing like this has happened with that gun (it's had a lot of rounds through it by now.) We were all wondering why all our stock was returned to Springfield, and thanks to your video I think now we know! I hope they get it sorted out, it is a fun gun to shoot!
Interesting, I have a 5+ year old XD and one of the original mags stopped locking the slide after only 200 rounds or so. It’s a gun that I keep near my bed at night so I keep the good mag in the gun and the not too good one in case I need to reload. Other than that the gun has been 100% reliable with no circus tricks like dumping ammo on your feet. Any gun I own has to be 100% reliable out of the box.
The grip has a weird angle, you will have to hunt for your red dot each time. If you shoot M&Ps or even 1911s, your sight or red dot is directly on your eyeline when you are drawing out. With the Echelon, your barrel and red dot naturally points up, much worse than the grip angle of a Glock. So you have to consciously bend your wrist down each time to aim or else you will have to hunt for the red dot. With M&Ps - straight from the draw, your red dot is there. No need to adjust your pointing angle, just pull the trigger. I hope they make a frame that has a more natural grip angle and in Glock 19 size that still takes the same slide, barrel and guide rod as the original. Fix the grip angle and it's ready for competition. Not a single feeding issue on mine. No play on the optic mounting. No problems on my 4 mags. 800+ rounds.
The issue is that the baseplate is no installed properly. I have had no issues at all with the extended mags coming apart. Its an operator error issue not a Springfield issue.
