Hello and welcome! Today we take a second look at the ‪@SpringfieldArmoryInc‬ Prodigy. My first experience, which was not very good, was with the 5" model. Now we take a look at the 4.25" offering. Did I have a better experience? Lets find out.
Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

@OBZ74 I have the 4.25 and choose this version due to less issues with it. I did upgrade externals though but haven't installed yet

@@brianshaw5796 I’ve heard that the EGW Ignition kit and the 14lbs guide rod spring will do the trick.

The Prodigy had some issues with the gate, but I think they fixed those issues. I plan to get the 4.25 inch model in the future. Nice magwell.

Nice review. There seems to be a consensus forming, at least at my local range, that the 5"s settle in after a break in period. I can see both sides of the debate regarding a break in, but I never like to shy away from extra range time. 👍👍

I think the Prodigy, specifically the 5", is the best platform out there to get into competition with a 2011. All the options to tune and customize it to your needs and specifications, and more easily accepting the wear and tear of competition. However for a range toy, duty gun, or show piece I think most people would regret not stepping up to a staccato.

Excellent and thorough review on an awesome handgun. Love steel framed handguns. Considered the purchase of a S/A PRODIGY and upgrade it. Cost $1,800 to $1,900. Or the STACCATO C2 at Scheels Online: $1,999.00 In reality they are just glorified 1911's. Decided on the SDS Tank Commander $409. Then upgraded major parts. Had a Pro 1911 gunsmith install parts, etc.. It really wasn't necessary but I wanted to spoil myself. She's heavy and super accurate in the 9mm variant. With an Ed Brown trigger and tweaked to perfection. The trigger and the accuracy, quality is to die for. Beautiful grey finish. Put Pachmyr rubber grips on it. One of my favorite firearms for the range. Considered the NightHawk, and other high end handguns. But for me the price is too high. Especially for a 9mm handgun. That is rifle or rifle caliber pistol with a brace territory. To each their own and decisions. Whatever makes you happy and safe. Peace

Im a cz guy myself, but i totally wiuld recommend someone try to grab a bul armory if they want to get a stacatto, but just cant bear to save the extra cash. Bul tac 4.25 and tac 5 is something like halfway in between the prodigy and the stacatto. Atleast last i checked. Great channel! New subscriber here. Cheers!

I just purchased a Staccato C2 with the Dawson comp on it. I believe Springfield has the issues worked out but I just think that the Staccato is superior and I'm glad to hear you echo my thoughts! Great video as always 👍

It's sad that most companies beta test on customers but as long as the manufacturer takes care of the customers, you're good. I haven't had any issues with my 5in other than on the last round on the 26 round mags jams sometimes. I think that's a mag issue tho. Not bad for the money

It's more like a staccato is $1000-$1600 more. I found my 4.25 prodigy for $1,172. I also ran mine side by side to a staccato p and I'll would keep my prodigy. But I understand once you have a bad taste in your mouth it's hard to give anything a second try. But it was a far review!

The factory mags that came with it. The one you see in the video and on the thumbnail with a blue base plate, came from the Atlas Athena.

This second "review" was just to justify your first "review". Look, if you don't like the pistol, pass on it. Most of what you didn't like was nit-picky at best. And "3 or 4 hundred dollars more" will NOT buy you a Staccato ........ Try $1000 to $1500 more. >>facepalm
