This is the gun that Eric at Green Eye Tactical carries and recommends above all others (and he carried a Glock for years while he served in Delta Force). The XDm is the best pistol on the planet IMO. Having the grip safety is a huge bonus for concealed carry, because Murphy is always lurking around the corner.

Was never called delta force. That;s hollywood. It is operational detachment-delta aka a D team from the US Army Special Forces. Usually called CAG aka combat application group. There you go.

@@unitedwestanddividedwefall3521 I have one and I love it. The recoil is a non issue. I shoot the mod 2 .45 much better than I do my M&P full size. It’s a fantastic gun. I’m thinking about getting it in 9. Palmetto has a great deal on them right now. You get about 6 magazines with it for 450.00. Unless you’re committed to the cost of 45 ammo, I’d get the 9. When I see the price of 9mm ammo it just makes me sick.

Kotaboy32 you just sold me on this. I was looking for a while and just couldn't decide. Growing up as a hunter most of my experience is with shotguns and little 22 rifles. The safety features and gun review made me feel comfortable and confident in making this in my top 3 choices. Thanks!!!!

I currently have 1 XD and 2 XDMs. Of those three, the XDM Compact 9mm is my favorite.

Pierce grip extensions (base plates) allow you to keep all of your fingers on the grip with the 13 round mag. Makes it much more comfortable to hold and shoot.

This is my carry gun. I put 4,000 rnds through it. Never failed. I just went through a police training course and this gun performed great. I was using the 19rnd mags throughout the whole course.

That is one of the most accurate pistols I've ever shot. I've had every configuration and model of XDm they offer and the 3.8 compact is my best shooter. I took a mole's head off from a standing position with the 3.8compact at 20 yards. I've shredded bullseyes at 10 yards with it, but not with my 5.25 competition models. It is a great pistol and I agree with you that it is great for a first time CCW holder.

@@JAYJAY-yn8gp I actually like the XD mod 2 grips better, as they are more aggressive. I have the new XDm Elite pistols and they could be better also. I wish Springfield would have taken S&W's cue and upped the ante on the aggressiveness of their grips. The M&P 2.0 grips are my favorite on the market today. TFW! :)

I gotta say I love my glocks, but this is the absolute sweetest shooting pistol that I have ever shot pistol wise. It shoots so so so soft! That trigger is actually smoother than my glocks!

I bought the new XDM ELITE 3.8, Looks like they added a slide release to the other side for left handed shooters. And the grip is full sized, 20 round clips. I must say, im impressed on how the gun feels and needless to say, it has the superior Springfield Armory quality making it one awesome side arm. Still hunting for the right holster. I definitely give it two thumbs up!

so if i take off the magwell and put the 14 round magazine in there i will have room for my pinky sounds great. so you're saying it's better to buy the compact instead of buying the full size gun because i wanted both of them but you're saying it doesn't make sense to do both of them right

i want the full size and the compact one for conceal carrying and the other one for home defense and going to the range to shoot and relax my mind but i was told to get just the compact one and buy the extra mag that will make ir 19 rounds. but i want to get both of them and call it a day.

Kota ,.. man I so badly want one of these ... the XDm is an Awesome platform and I dont know if you ever seen a modified XDm but they're Sweet !! Pricey to mod. ,.. but MAN, they're sweet is all I can say... Great Buy !! Happy for ya bro,..!! And that gun (if Im not mistaken) was actually built around a .40 cal cartridge,..

The XD9sc and a Ruger LC9 were my first CCW pistols. Both were 100% reliable but I don't have either today... for different reasons. The Ruger's trigger was bad. I trained to the point that I could shoot it accurately but not quickly. I sold it to a buddy for his first CCW. He was older and really just wanted a reliable shooter. The XD9sc, was a great shooter. Not the best trigger but definitely good enough for self defense and much quicker. I ended up transferring it to my Dad for his first CCW. After taking his class (and passing) he won't carry it because he has no trigger finger discipline, I guess. Dad decided he wanted a gun with a thumb safety. We all tried to tell him that it isn't the answer but at 80 years old next month, there was no persuading him otherwise. He ended up purchasing a new LC9s, striker fired and a much better trigger than the original hammer fired LC9. Funny lil gun world.

I used to have one. I still have my Taurus slim 709, but finding extra clips is like panning for gold! I love my new XDM as they've made modifications from the time of this video. 20 round clips, full size hand grip and ambidextrous slide release. Definitely worth checking out!

I don't understand the point of the grip safety all accidental discharges happen when the guns gripped whether holstering the gun or whatever so the grip safety is mostly likely gonna be pressed when someone is gonna accidentally pull the trigger. So can someone change my way of thinking lol

The safety feature are nice if you feel more comfortable with them. But personally i feel more comfortable with no safety on my guns just keep ya booger picker off the trigger and ull be fine.. i do still own this gunn tho lol and its very nice

Good review! I know they stopped making this pistol but I did find one on-line. Only problem is that it does not come with everything you have.... Only 2 magazines, 2 backstraps, magazine extender and lock. Any idea why?? It's also new. Thanks

So with the 19 round Xtend mag, is that bottom backstrap plastic piece removable to where I can swap it onto my XDm 19 round mag from my 4.5" XDm? On the magazine section of the Springfield Armory website, the mags. business ends look completely different in how the rounds are loaded.

Yeah except they fucked up and gave it excellent sights, actual replaceable backstraps and mag sleeves, match-grade barrels and sights (the "M" in XD(M) is for MATCH) and accuracy and precision and overall quality and performance that make Glocks look like a literal joke instead of just a laughingstock like Glocks look(ed) compared to the "standard" XD. And they package and sell it as a "turn-key" shooting "system" so a beginning or veteran shooter and pay less than he or she would for a Glock and have the basics to begin carrying/sport shooting in one package instead of having to buy a holster, mag holder, magazine loader (for the "hand strength challenged") and two different pistols to have both a "compact" and "full-size" pistol both. For the same money a Glock costs in a cheesedick little plastic case with 2 mags or 3 if you're "lucky".

I noticed how easily your mags drop. I have a Springfield xd40 subcompact that I bought back in 2013 and have shot at least a 1k rounds through it and the mags will still not drop freely. What should I do to correct this?

I think you are the first person that has had that issue at that round count. I had an XD9sc and they jettisoned with authority. Contact Springfield and ask them, that just ain't right.

Fiber reinforced polymer it's actually a stronger polymer than what Glock uses

Hey KB, Ive been trying to decide between the glock30S and an xdm 3.8 45. How do the rear rails hold up, being polymer and all? How many rounds has ur xdm 40 seen?

I haven't heard much about the rear rails wearing or breaking even though they are polymer. This design strikes me odd since xd/m are literally the only guns I can think of with polymer rails. However in this pistol design pretty much all your contact is on the robust steel front rails. I can only remember hearing of one incident years ago with a xdm breaking the rear rails, and I can't recall where I read about it. There is documented high round counts through glocks/hk's/m&p's but I don't recall reading one on xd/m's. If you don't shoot that much you'll never wear one out, but if you shoot let's say 10,000 rounds a year through your guns then I would search to see what a xdm's rear rails look like after 40k-50k rounds. Even then it probably wouldn't be a big deal because I believe they offer a lifetime warranty. I currently don't own a xdm but plan on purchasing one down the road because the way they fit in my hand, excellent. I had one of the original xd40's when they first came out and it seized up on me after like 400-500 rounds when the rsa failed. I sent it Springfield and they had it back to me in like 6 days with a new updated rsa that is like ones they use now. I haven't owned one since, but the xdm 45 compact is the next 45 I'm buying, after a couple more 9mm's that sit higher on my list

hi, thanks for ur input. i'm not really a novice, but still an amateur indeed in ccw. what i'm looking for is another 40 to add to my lonely G23 which is my only 40. but what i want is something that handles the 40 with a bit more aplomb than the glock. something carry-capable which i can practice with more than i do my G23 because of shooting feel alone.

Sorry to chime in kinda late. I had the XD9sc with the polymer rear rails and used it as my initial CCW pistol. While I didn't dig the polymer rear rails I never had an issue with it. In fact, I gave it to my Dad for his first CCW pistol. He hasn't had any issues either. I sold my 40 S&W pistols including the G23. I recently picked up a Sig P239 that I'm totally in love with and I know they make it in 40 as well. I'd think any Sig P2 series would handle 40 well. Impact guns had a P226 in 40 for a really good price a while back. The 40 S&W I want is the USP 40. Designed from ground up for the 40 S&W A couple suggestions if you don't go with the XD/M.

The Allen wrenches to tighten the tensioning screw on the mag pouch and the holster. It is the perfect weapon for any level of experience who wants to carry concealed. You make sound like it's only good for entry-level, first time shooters. And that's just not true.
