I have a 2006 sprinter(50k original miles) and I couldn't find one video that would address this issue until now. I waited 15 years for this... I generally knew how to do it but you gave me some more insight and weapon.. I just bought the scanner in case... Ty soooo soooo much buddy... Wishing you well.. cheers
Just becareful when removing the glowplugs, especially the 1st 3. Drive until the engine is hot, like on a highway for 15 minutes, put penetrating oil and remember to rock it back and fourth, quarter turn at a time. Don't force it. Good Luck.
@@rtabcum So a bit of an update, thanks to your video, I knew exactly what to do. Got all the glow plugs swapped and the module in less than an hour! I was lucky and all the glow plugs came out easily.
I think blowing loose debris out of the well before glo-plug removal should be preceded by sticking a thin wire brush or what ever will fit and loosening any particles of crud that may otherwise resist the air but be loosened by the socket and the gloplug unscrewing.
Amazing video. I will be doing a DIY repair video of this process also for my T1N. Can I link this video and show a screenshot of your channel and this video?
I would suggest you get a similar code scanner to be sure. When my glow plug was bad, it started up quickly. The only notice that lead me to the problem was the error code. Long start may not be cause by the glow plug only.
Make sure there is nothing blocking the connector or or socket like a bent pin. If the module has not been bolted in, take it out and look closely as you test plug in the small connector. It should snap in. Remember the connector only fits 1 way.
Sorry to hear that. I have been lucky with minimal repairs. Only been in the shop for Transmission work and power steering hydraulic leak. Other than that, I have been repairing misc stuff myself. Good luck!
Now they are $180.00. I screwed up and bought the module and burned it up because I had a shorted glow plug. Should of changed all the glow plugs first then put it in. So I just ended up soldering some same size wire in the new one and its been working good. Learn from the mistakes Right.
