In this episode of our van conversion series we are installing two rigid solar panels on the roof of our campervan. The roof of our Mercedes Benz Sprinter van is curved and is made of glassfiber. Somehow we have to manage putting two 170 Watt rigid solar panel on this roof.

I think the videos in your h3 sprinter conversion series are the first on youtube showing a conversion on a fiberglass roof! Awesome work, and thanks for sharing! These extra tall sprinters are rare and hard to find, so your videos are more than welcome! thanks for sharing!

That's so good to hear. This is precisely why we wanted to make this video. We have searched far and wide, but found no video's on installing a fan on a H3's roof. So we went in blind. It can be done, but having this video to show for it hopefully helps others. So glad to hear you found this helpful! Cheers! We have a video on our Maxxfan installation as well.

Hey! We are basically doing the same thing, however we have maybe a little bit more of a curve. I didnt really understand how you managed to make those straight edged brackets curve to your roof? I feel you said you didn't screw it in but i dont understand how you managed to curve it.

We only put one screw half way in to attach a corner bracket on the short side of the panel, so the whole bracket was able to turn/twist. At 3:12 you can see this. You see one screw, the whole bracket is slightly turned/twisted to follow the curve in the roof. With the bracket in this position we drilled the holes on the long side of the panel and put the screws in on this side, after we had mounted the brackets on the roof. I hope I am making sense :-)

Heeft dit type sprinter een daklast van 150kg of 0?

Ik vermoed dat ons glassfiber dak een daklast van 0,0 kg heeft. Als je er op duwt, deukt het in. Als de zon schijnt wordt het dak zo heet, dat het flexibel wordt. Wij zijn er nooit op gaan staan in ieder geval.

@@esterscholten9643 Ja dat geeft geen probleem. En met "er op duwen" bedoel ik met je volle gewicht erop gaan hangen. Dan bewegen de delen tussen de spanten in best wel mee. Ik zou er zeker nooit op gaan staan. Maar de zonnepanelen zitten hartstikke vast en gaan geen kant op.
