Hellooo! 👋🏻
A while ago, I replaced the Crankshaft position sensor (and the camshaft position sensor, which is why I stutter in the first 3 seconds) in my 2006 Dodge Sprinter Van 2500.
It's really really difficult to get to this part! But fortunately, the part is cheap.
Please let us know if there is an easier way to get the part off than what I ended up doing.
Bye for now!

You're too sweet. Hopefully I'll have a few more videos out in the next couple months! I have a lot more time to edit now that I can't leave my house/van.

I had trouble getting to it on a 98 Sunfire. My neighbor came over and helped me break it off, leaving the half of the sensor with hardened o-ring seals still stuck in the engine block. When I consulted the garage at the dealership, you could hear tools being thrown. My strategy was to drop the oil pan and push it out from the inside. So much stuff had to be cleared from the oil pan to drop it that I never got to it. I donated the car. The car had over 200,000 miles on it, but would not run without that sensor.

Mine still ran, it was just throwing codes and starting funny. But yeah, this piece is *to this day* the hardest to access thing I've ever replaced on my van.

I ended up having the same issue with my 04. Like you said, not as easy as it seems, that thing was stuck in there and so difficult to get out. I ended up accessing it from above, inside the van. I took apart where the cup holder is, then there is a panel that had to be opened up, but that accesses right where the sensor is located. Still wasn’t easy and I even ended up breaking off the plastic part because it was so stuck. Solved it by torching it, very carefully, and was able to melt it out! Install was a breeze! Lol

I’m looking to have to do something similar on my 07 to hopefully avoid having to take the cat out. Assuming configuration is similar, did you remove a plastic trim insert between the ac/radio cluster and the floor? Replaced the y cable in mine a while back so had that open once before. Every video I see doesn’t have a cat in the way, haha. Thanks for any response

00:30 That type of star type screw/bolt head is called a torx. Anyhow, nicely done replacing it!

It’s actually the inverse of a Torez ... also known as external torx

Thanks for filming that - exactly what I was looking for. I have the same code after my sprinter stalled on a highway and now waiting for the new part. Question - would it be easier to disconnect electric connector before undoing the screw or does the wire let it drop where you can reach it easier?

Not a bad approach! Very greasy The crux is definitely maneuvering your hands to disconnect the sensor and then removing the sensor.

1/4in drive works better
@anthonymartin2412

IF YOU EVERY GET A 1 CLICK NO START. YOU HEAR the relay click turn of the key This is a bad motor ground cable. Van may die when your driving. Ground post on battery hotter then hell. Power drops in and out if you try wipers there start and stop. Start after 5-20min If on road take jumper cable need only one side ground on battery post and ground the motor it will start. so buy a motor ground cable if never replaced. O a 1/4 driver works better on Crankshaft position sensor. Most of us have to change it one handed. Mine crap out today. 300 tow bill.

Not missing videos. I've been on a bit of a hiatus. Currently, with the coronavirus pandemic putting me in quarantine, I have more time to edit videos but less time to film them. So things will be weird for a time.
