I love how this story turned from respecting nature to mushroom smurfs committing war crimes within one minute.

I like how the bird helped Ellie. As a token of her gratitude for being saved by her :).

This is what Sausage Party should have been. The perfect blend of cynical humour and the whimsicalness and beauty of animation (with a little bit of horror).

I just realized that exactly at 1:50 they say that she wouldn't survive five minutes alone, but litreally exactly five minutes later in the animation 6:50, everyone except her died. The attention to detail is crazy

"She wouldn't survive 5 minutes alone in these woods" **She is the only one who survives**

I realise the boombox guy is a bit of an outlier because he hid so we didn’t see how he would have tried to defend himself, but I like that in the chase scenes from 5:10 to 6:00, all the others are very quick to physically attack the creatures (spraying them with hairspray, hitting them with a bat, etc) while Ellie escapes in ways that don’t directly injure them, like choosing to cut herself free by her hair instead of trying to cut one of the sprites, as the others no doubt would have in her position. I think it really shows her character that even in such a situation her first instinct isn’t to see them as the enemy, and then she only attacks them when she’s completely cornered- and even then, she warns them first.

A person who isnt a fan of horror movies, I would like to say.. I actually liked this one

I love how the teens says "she wouldn't survive five minutes in this woods" and the smurfs start killing them at literal five minutes in the video 💀💀💀

The fact that they didn’t kidnap the scout looking girl, only because she treated nature with complete respect

I love how this Short is more horrifying then every horror movie ive seen, plus there was no gore so that makes this more impressive

Notice how their deaths were personalized. The guy who crushed the snail at the beginning died by snails. Guy pissing on the sprites died by drowning in piss. Woman spraying spiders died by spiders. BBQ boy died by fire.

I love the detail where each of the characters death correlates to how they treated nature

It's criminal how cute Ellie's design is

This is so wholesome. The animation looks beautiful. And Ellie is very cute. Her energy is very sweet

I'm actually liking the design of Ellie who survived at the end of the movie her design looks so good and it's pretty cute.

Finally an animation that portrays Human-Fae interactions accurately.

I love how they weren't going to kill tha girl initially. Because she loved the nature.

The absolute genius of showing how awful what we do to nature is by flipping human destruction back on humans in weird disgusting deaths is so interesting

In my opinion, there should be another short film about like 30 or 40 years later, she's still traumatized about what happened to her friends and she's really paranoid about going camping but one of her other friends force her to go camping to get over her fear and it goes terribly wrong...again.

I love how the description says "Rated PG." This movie should teach people that if it's an animation that doesn't mean it's family friendly.

How they made horror aspects with a cutesy artstyle, keeping it even when it get intense, making it violent even though there minimal amount of blood and it still unnerving despite it; is the most impressive thing i have ever seen in a story ever!

I love these types of films. Where they start of cute but then get f*cked up after. Great job!

I didn't expect that with these friendly looking characters models someone could make an actual horrifying horror movie.

I like the detail that every camper dies the way they were hurting the environment! Just goes to show how dedicated the team behind Blender is. The first blue guy steps on a snail at 0:25, then is killed by snails at 6:30. The hair girl sprays her hairspray at a spider at 1:26, then is killed by spiders at 6:12. The Boombox guy pees on a ladybug at 1:49, then is killed by pee at 6:36. And finally, the barbeque guy kills a butterfly with fire that turns green at 1:29, and then is burnt by fire that flashes green at 4:37. Very cool part of the already mind blowing animation!

I love how they made the Sprite murder reasonable. They decided to not kill the main character until she helps her friends

I’m so glad Ellie was the lone survivor since she was the most likable out of the human characters and I could see her in a future sequle of this if we even get one (we likely won’t but it would be cool)

This animation serves as a great reminder that animation isn’t a Genere, but an Art form and it can be any Genre.

This is so well made, completely caught me super off guard when the papa smurf dropped the B word XD, so horrifying for an animated film as well. Very well!!

I wish this was a Netflix series it looks so good

at the beginning of watching, i thought it would be typical friendly-family content, but it turned out great, broke all the clichés

- SPOILERS BELOW - I like how they were ironically killed by the very thing that they did. The blonde guy with the bat crushed a snail, and later he got crushed (and presumably eaten) by multiple snails. The rainbow-haired girl with the pepper spray attacked and killed a spider and was later suffocated and killed in a spider web. The redhead dude with the lighter fluid started a fire and incinerated a couple butterflies, and was later tied up and burned in a large fire with a bunch of torches by the sprites. The black-haired guy with the boombox urinated on a ladybug, knocking it off of a mushroom, and was later drowned in urine by the sprites. Then there's the main character, who had saved a bird from choking on plastic six-pack rings, was later saved by that very same bird, who attacked the father sprite and allowed her to escape. It's a nice little touch.

I am so glad I choose blender as my first to learn animations its tough but constant practice will get you there

The way this went from "cute" to *"CURSED"* so fast is crazy. It was actually scary as it was full of uncertainty towards the end.

I actually was fully expecting this to be a child friendly little short film on protecting the environment but what I got out of it was much much better

The teen’s deaths makes relative to how they treated nature The orange haired girl died cause of the spiders and the fact she stepped on a spider The blonde boy died because of the snails and the fact he stepped on one The black boy died because of drowning in urine and the fact he peed in a one of the mushrooms And the ginger haired boy died because of burning alive and the fact he burned butterflies They made them feel how they treated nature

I was NOT expecting them to swear 😂

Ellie is so cute, her personality is wholesome, everything about her is so awesome.

So this is what animated movies would look like if they were horror movies, I'm glad the main nature girl character lived, she was clearly the only smart and good hearted character in this who deserved to live, even the Bird who was also good hearted.

I think a cooler ending woulve been is that she joined the sprites as one of them

I’m loving this! The character designs, a friendly opening with a dark plot twist, and a cute heroine up against evil murderous Smurfs.

Wow i wasnt expecting a twist like that. Thought this is gonna be girl saving these tiny magical creatures from her friends/family and learning to stand up for herself against their bullying type of story. Didnt expect an animated film to be this terrifying. The last time i got scared by an animation was Monster House and that was AGES ago lol

Going where Pixar fears to tread; I love it. The undercranked character frame rate is a really nice touch and gives it a bit of a stop motion vibe.

These open movies feel like they should be a part of Love, Death and Robots series.

I appreciate that the short has some tells early on for what you're in for. the guy stomping on the snail, the beer, and the piss all work as warnings to the audience that the animation isn't going to be kid-friendly. The cast being one-note classic slasher flick tropes also helps clue you in for what you're in for. It's a cheap trick to disarm the audience with an cute aesthetic just to blindside them with gratuitous violence and i'm glad this short avoids that.

10 years later. Co-Scoutmaster Ellie: "The. End." Hilda: "Wow. What a horrifying story." Frida: "I wouldn't meet one of those sprites." David: "Only you survived?" Ellie: "Indeed. And that's where we are. I made this singh so that no other human being would die," "Danger! Keep out! Beware the mushroom sprites!" Ellie: "So whatever you do Sparrow Scouts. Never enter this part of the forest. Will you promise on sparrow scout's honor?" All three: "We promise on the sparrow scout's honor that we will never enter the sprite forest."

I love how the animation just retains a similar style to a lot of kids movies, so the twist is just as good in delivery lmao

I love the little details like the foreshadowing or how they left the girl bc she was respectful or when the bird helped her bc she saved the bird

This is absolutely brilliant. I love how the deaths were creative and quirky rather than being over the top gore.

This is fantastic! I gotta admit, the briefer moments here disturbed me a lot more than the main plot. Namely the eggs breaking when they hit the ground and the slime-trail left by the bodiless Sprite as he pushed himself along.

Ellie’s the best final girl ever. Not many final girls from movies can match her when it comes to likability and character. 👍🏻👍🏻❤️♨️
