I'm in love with this vehicle. It's perfect for our terrain here in the Philippines. Why? Well our terrain is an archipelago where this vehicle can go some sort of short island hoppings. It's light where our bridges cannot withstand vehicles weighed 40 tons and above. The vehicle can do direct fire support on our old insurgency problems in the dense jungle terrains where only artillery fire can reach the enemy positions.

@@indiandefensearena905 Except Kestrel has more armor and can also be fitted with ERA if needed. plus Kestrel is a way more versatile platform and can be used as short range air defence, Tank Destroyer, Mortar vehicle, 105mm wheeled field gun, Command post for artillery guidance, ammunition carrier, recce vehicle. BMP is an old design and should actually be replaced. Plus kestrel can move on faster than BMPs on roads as it is wheeled and won't damage the road as much as tracked vehicles.

@@the_fabulous_p14 Kestrel cannot be airdropped. It also can only carry a 30mm autocannon with a grenade launcher or a HMG or outfitted with a BMP-2 turret. Also, the Sprut-SD platform has way better off-road capabilities than a wheel APC. And I don't know about you, but a 125mm smoothbore cannon is way better than a 30mm autocannon when you are talking about killing tanks.

@@HMSNeptun I wonder if he knows what will happen to "Kestrel" armor when it gets shot by 125mm smoothbore with Sabot round. When it comes to this type of guns almost every armor is kinda useless. I assume Sprut will get deployed via air near hills or mountains quickly gaining high ground shooting at tanks capitalizing on high ground and then escape.

Fighting in built up areas require HESH very useful against buildings. 120mm rifles can deliver near 2.5× explosive filler of a HEF FS shell from a 125mm smooth bore. There almost nothing that a 125mm can do to bring down a building but a 120mm HESH shell from a rifled barrel can sometimes, do that to a heavish building. India will be the last great tank power to operate rifles among some of its modern MBT fleet. When the MBTs go inside cities to support infantry against well armed, well trained opposition only then can we determine the superiority of rifles over smoothbore in urban warfare or not.

I think the platform designing is primitive or outdated and the 2A45/125mm main gun is considered excessive firepower considering that the weight of a light tank is less than 35 tons with very modest levels of armor... I think that the blueprint and the general designing principles of the BMP-3 are suitable to be the basis for the development of a light tank, but a comprehensive a new ideas needs to be implemented for example only: 1-it needs to be made of composite armors instead of welded aluminum, as in is the case with the BMP-3 IFV this will upscale the protection levels to older generation main battle tanks... 2- providing it with an unmanned turret, but of a good size that allows for increasing the distance between the roof and Internal components and allow the breach of the main gun to move at good angles of elevation and descent, and it can also be equipped with a hydraulic suspension system... 3- equipping it with 100mm high-pressure gun (instead of the 100mm 2A70 low-pressure gun) allows it to fire modern generations of APFSDS munitions, in addition to high explosive fragmentation HE-FRAG munitions suitable for destroying infantry soldiers, fortifications, and lightly armored vehicles... 4-the needs for the 30mm 2a72 to be coaxial with the main gun, the current configuration for IFV is an excellent combination where the 100mm low pressure main gun with maximum range of 6000m with ATGM missile 9K116-3 "Basnya" and 6500 maximum range/4000m effective range with HE-FRAG supported by the 30mm rapid firing gun for fire suppression and area effect fire with 2000m effective range and 7.6mm pkt covering between 600m and 800m range or equipped optionally with an automatic grenades launchers...

With MBT's being destroyed by drones from above and insurgents from behind , the heavy frontal armor doesn't make sense . This will be dropped ahead of the MBT and be waiting in ambush , I would like to see it armored against 14.5mm all around instead of 12.7mm , and have a main gun that can also be used as AA artillery .

They put a lot of emphasis on transportability and, specially, on the vehicle's firepower on this video, but they barely spoke about the armor. As it turns out, the max frontal armor is only about 40mm of RHA, so really any man-portable anti-tank launcher or IFV autocannon will pretty much destroy it in one shot. I'm thinking they should have ditched the smooth-bore gun and gone with a missile launcher, then use the weight savings to install more armor and countermeasures.

Atgm is expensive, and this is direct fire support for airborne. The 125mm use to destroy enemies pillboxs, fortified target not just tank only. Hence the 125mm cannon.

There aren't many light armored vehicles that can fire a 120mm round, let alone a 125 mm that can penetrate the armor of a main battle tank. This is certainly a versatile equipment that can be part of the airborne unit, navy, mechanize and infantry unit as a fire support vehicle. As a person who grew up in Asia, surrounded by thick vegetation, a light tank with serious fire power is definitely needed against insurgents hiding in the jungle

@@annoyedcat9291 Like I said, depends on doctrine. US and Chinese light tanks focus more on armour and less on firepower as 105mm sufficient. So for them Sprut wouldn't be a good choice and similarly for Russians having more focus on mobility, Sprut is good. Another thing, 125mm isn't better than 120mm. There's a reason why Russian tanks can't penetrate western tanks easily.

@@Abdullah-mn6sw Please elaborate why a 125mm cannot penetrate western tanks easily when Leopard and Abram tanks are known to be destroyed by Russian armaments that are smaller in caliber than the 125mm gun in Iraq and Syria. From my understanding, Russian APFSDF are on par with the Western counterpart and can penetrate through most tanks, even those equipped with ERA especially if it's hit multiple times. During the gulf war, there were cases of Abrams being disabled and destroyed due to friendly fire that were shot with a 120mm gun. It is a myth that Western tanks are impenetrable due to their armor, there's no such thing as an impenetrable tank

Is a beautiful afv, but damn that recoil. Surely no way this thing can fire on the move with recoil that excessive. Maybe is a good tank destroyer that can move around easily. Shoot and scoop might be it's tactic. Not attacking position aggressively, rather more like reposition to get good fire position and with recon in mind.

Yeah fire and retreat is the tactic that will be employed. As for the recoil, it won't matter the round has left the barrel long before the inertia affects the vehicle it can fire on the move.

"Shoot and scoot" has always been the tactic used by tank destroyers since WW2, since they don't have the necessary armor needed to shrug against other enemy tanks.

A lot more stable in the water it looks,an enters water with no preparations. This light tank can be air dropped with men inside safely an is immedetely ready for action. Not much fuel capacity though,250 miles. Cant even go city to city with out refueling. Assualt role

If the RU managed to land at US mainland, all of their shit would of been destroyed. Not a single plane, helicopter, or amphibious landing would get through. The best chance they have is Hawaii and Alaska.
