Heckler Koch G3 have been around for a long time and is truly an amazing gun! Few rifles are that reliable. Sadly the ergonomics sucks big time and here I explain why and how.
So, the G3 bumps against your cheek a bit. Just get even by slapping the cocking lever. You will be rewarded by one of the best gun sounds ever when that bolt slams forward.
As much as I would love to buy one of your G3 stocks, I took your advice, bought a surplus wooden stock, sawed about 3-4cm off, gorilla taped the rubber buttpad to the top of the stock as a cheek riser and voila! The short stock fits my short frame much better and moves the balance point further back. I have a cheap 3-9x bushnell scope mounted on the pic rail and the presentation is perfect, I bring the rifle up and my eye is right in the box every time.
The Norwegian issued G3s (AG3 in Norwegian military) came with longer buttstocks (effectively making the overall length of the rifle 1020mm). During my service with the rifle, I never had any trouble with the ergonomics of the rifle, but I do understand that the user experience will be different for all individuals. If you can get hold of a Norwegian buttstock, I would recommend that as an option if you want to keep the classic look of the rifle.
This should make it a good modern combat rifle with now an option of modern optic's i think this can be a very accurate rifle and it has an awesome look
@ Mitchell Gray If you are still wondering, you *can* use the iron sights if you remove the cheek riser that comes with it. I did this in fact just the other day, no problem.
Mr Sphur is 100% correct in his video explaining this. His stock does indeed tame the HKG3/91/PTR/Clones. I just blasted a few rounds through my PTR91 GI with the heavy buffer with some friends to show them and it's a pussy cat. Amazement across the board. My preban HK91 shot right after is like an untamed beast in comparison.. I like this system so much I did grind off the front sight and remove the rear on the PTR. I"m never going back to factory.
I personally don’t have any issues with reaching the fire selection controls or the button magazine release and I have proof on my channel. I use the old school green polymer stock. It could be because my fingers are a mile long though.
While I’m a fan of the L1A1 I like the mods you have made on the G-3. One thing it seems as if you could make a front sight tower with a small perhaps slightly extended pic rail section for use with a flip up front sight for use with a matching rear flip up peep sight at a matching height.
@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Nice try but I am not employed there. Just a former german soldier who was trained on the G3 and likes the gun for its simplicity. It had its issues which Spuhr seems to have solved ... at least some of them.
I shot a movement drill with the Norwegian G3 just for fun a couple years ago, and not having shot a G3 for a while I didnt remember the LOP, and subsequently snagged the stock and failed to shoulder it properly. Muzzle rise is awful as well, especially on full auto. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vSRJs7-N2YM.html
There are larger Butplates, Stocks and also a "Schubschaft" is aviable... It's no Problem for me to reach BOTH magazin release buttons whilte holding the rifle down on target. You are just to short...
I love mine I hit 4 inch groups at 1,200 yards often, dropped a dozen hogs, and several white tails. Launched dummy and pepper grenades with mine, and the bayonet is super unique. This guy is just a wuss. LOL
They are imported from so their is tarrifs to pay, goverment flunkies to bribe, taxes from persons who have nothing to do with the stock. Thsts why it costs $300.
lol, everybody who hold it at the mag is a mega noob. g3a3 and g3a4 were two of my service rifles... never had any problems... only people who learned shooting with air-rifles have problems... just hold it firm like a tool - not a toy.
