My rifle (JLD PTR 91) came without the screw that goes into the buffer from inside the stock. Apparently all the PTR black polymer molded stocks are made without the removable buttpad. My question is this: Is the rear buffer screw totally necessary for the Spuhr stock or does it hold fine without that central rear screw? *The large buffer screws are $2 online. This question is hypothetical as I intend to buy one anyway but I've seen people saying its fine with just the 2 smaller ones in the plate.
not being an expert, I would still get the screw and do it right. It's cheap enough to not bust your wallet. If I installed it without the main screw, it would always nag me if I did it right. Just me though.
It helped with the “cheek slap” from the hump on stock. It puts the recoil inline to your shoulder. I’ve found the G3 to be the softest of the old school battle rifles to shoot imo. But yeah it helps. Glad this was useful to you.
I made this video because a few friends who had this stock were having trouble installing it. I'd say that I am by nature a very visual learner (Lego or Ikea instruction style is best for me). Perhaps terrible is a bit hyperbole, but when comparing the steps of the install instructions to the diagram on the back they didn't match up make sense to me.
