Why are people so eager to tie up 200 million on a Garland contract?

I don’t get why people say they want to win now but want to keep Dillingham. The spurs aren’t going to win anyways even if they keep him. Scoot was so much better of a prospect and was said to be able to contribute right out of the gate but look how he did in Portland.

Garland is a turnover machine. Tre is better. Tre has better shooting % and fewer turnovers.

Why not get trae ?

I do think they should go after him, maybe not too aggressively, but Garland is awesome and not a headache like Trae. But the more I think about it, I don't think it makes much sense for Cleveland. If they manage to keep Mitchell, they're going to want to improve the team immediately, and the Spurs can only really send draft capital (and Keldon).
