I make my case for why I think the San Antonio Spurs should draft rookie Stephon Castle in the 2024 NBA Draft instead of trading the pick for a big name point guard.
Exactly! Looks to have that Holiday potential, especially as a defender...I really think the 3pt shot will come around, especially with the Spurs staff
Castle would definitely bring some defensive toughness on the perimeter. But that 3pt shot has to come around to be worthy of the 4th pick of the draft.
@@hoesnyhamid7356 would you be open to the Spurs trading up from to insure they got Risacher and Castle? As long as the future Atlanta picks and none of the 2025 picks are involved?
I 100% agree. I didn't want the video to ne too long, but Houston is my only concern of him being gone, I really hope a team trades up with them to take one of the bigs
I like castle if we didn't already have Vassel, Johnson, Branhan, Sidko, and Wesely , all 6'4" to 6'5", where Castle is 6'5.5" at the draft combine. We have a log jam with guys of similar size and abilities. If he is a point I'd consider, but I don't see it. I would like us to draft for size at the wing, 6'7"+ wing defenders. I just don't see a point in this draft that will run our team, let's get some length and athletes to pair with Wemby.
I wouldn't hate that at all. I do think that the organization is going to stay patient and possibly hold off on a big move until next year with a better draft class and free agency market, but we'll see
Markinen is the ideal big man to plug the holes, particularly in the offense . The only major concern is fragile and loses a whole bunch of games every season with injuries. Maybe it's a conditioning issue and he needs to work on his fitness.
Every draft is a crap shoot. And especially this one. There are going to be no brainers not taken in hindsight. But hindsight counts. Castle may be no better than Sochan at point and only slightly better at shooting threes. Or he could be the only rookie ready to contribute from day one. Same with Topic, same with Ron Holland. Everything says they are marginal or below average shooters. But if they catch on, could be the three most game players in this draft. It will be a total crapshoot.
I agree offensively, but I think Castle as a point of attack defender can have a bigger impact on the team sooner. I definitely wouldn't be mad at that pick though
