In winning the national championship this year with UConn, Stephon Castle showed that he has the ability to provide a major supporting role in an elite system. Providing great value as an offensive connector at the 2 guard position and defender for a powerhouse squad that had so much talent that it was hard to stand out. Castle doesn’t want to be seen as just a role playing 2 though, recently stating “I feel like my true position is a point guard, I feel like the past couple of months, I had to sacrifice for the better of our team. It worked out for us, so it's not anything to harp on or be bitter about.". Castle has made it clear by these statements he isn’t content being a peripheral piece in the NBA, he wants to be the guy running things. With reports surfacing that he will refuse working out with teams who have an established point guard. The question is, does he have the ability to actually do that? Or is he an overly ambitious young player who needs to accept where he truly fits is as a shooting guard or small forward as a supporting piece?
